Whats your brand personality?

Just curious....do you have a particular brand that is just 'you'?
Somewhere you can spend hours window shopping and know you will love almost everything or are you more of a varied shopper.

Im abit of both. I have 1 favourite brand that I tend to live in (and feels like my personality in a nutshell!) and another that is my 'bit on the side', both of which are abit spenny for me so I stalk the sales and Vinted.
Vinted is also where I branch out, alot of brands I'll happily buy second hand much cheaper but never go to the actual sites.

Love Me+Em and Jigsaw but bulk it out with more High Street options

Newmeagain · 03/10/2025 10:50

In the 2000s I loved Sandro. It fit me really well (as a petite) and the styles suited me. It was expensive even then but I would buy the occasional piece on sale. I also really liked J Crew in the late 2000s, in its heyday and when it opened some stores in London.

Now - no idea really. Even if money was no object I don’t think there is a single shop that has everything for me.

CoffeeAndStripedtops · 03/10/2025 11:10

In theory, I love Zara! I used to buy a lot of their items but lately I keep looking at the pieces, but when I go and try them on they just don't look "right".

In reality I'm a Boden-Jules mix now. Love Joules' striped tops and their coats, and have a wide selection of Boden jeans, ponte trousers and jersey dresses. Just looking at my today's warderobe and I'm wearing all Boden: their girlfriend jeans, lether belt and sweatshirt.

I’m a TkMaxx person . I love a rummage and love the European vibe of some things in there . I mostly buy preloved clothing but Tk,s is my one exception.

EscapadeVelocity · 03/10/2025 11:20

It’s taken me a while to properly think about this but, if I’m honest, it was probably Martin Margiela era Hermes, so 1997 - 2003. I did not buy any clothes there during that period. I already owned a silk scarf or two from the earlier 90s. And I bought an item of costume jewellery to mark a significant achievement in 2000. I used to spend hours browsing and trying stuff on in any city that had a store or concession, but I was even more influenced by the Hermes journal with its limitless openings for imagination. There were colour combinations, proportions and ways of wearing clothes that I’d never seen anywhere else. In the 90s my work wardrobe consisted of Jill Sander, Antonio Fusco, George Rech (plus odd bits of Marks and Spencer when it was good). I was never rich enough or grown up enough for Hermes - but that period has pretty much ruined me for everything else.

(Phoebe Philo era Celine had a similar effect on me, though!)

I find myself searching for that level of poetic perfection in every single brand I look at. Old Topshop sometimes achieved it …

lifeofashowwoman · 03/10/2025 11:36

Albaray and Nobody's child 😍

mynameiscalypso · 03/10/2025 11:43

Gap is a good shout. I was looking at the images from the new campaign with Gwyneth Paltrow and Apple Martin yesterday and it took my right back to 90s Gap. We had one on the high street where I lived growing up and I just loved (and still love) the aesthetic. I’m going to the US in a few weeks and there’s a Gap around the corner from our hotel (and an Old Navy which I love too). I’m very excited even if I know it will be expensive!

I have quite a few Disturbia bits and I love Kate Spade bags.

I like these brands because you can get things that are mostly normal but then they have details that make them a bit extra but not OTT.

I have quite a few Joanie bits but find them harder to wear day to day

Im a huge fan of Joanie jumpers and have picked up the majority of mine for a fiver off Vinted. Plus I tend to go for the things that are quirky prints but quite wearable shapes like tea dresses or wrap dresses (my life really isnt about bell sleeves and yards of chiffon!!😄).
Both brands are abit pricey for me though so I do stalk Vinted and watch out for sales as both companies do brilliant sales sections and events.
Full price items are birthday and christmas treats only.

(I wish I could afford a Kate Spade bag though!).

Topshop was my absolute go-to as a teenager in the 90s then into my 20s it always had something for me whether a work outfit/suit or a pair of perfect jeans

Then into my 30s it was the perfect maternity skinny jeans & tops

Gutted when it went!

Still have fond memories of being 16/17 and going with my friends into London on the train then tube to Oxford Circus where they had the amazing flagship store!

TurquoiseDress · 03/10/2025 13:40

Also forgot to mention Oasis and Gap which both served me well in my 20s

Now in my 40s it’s a bit of a fashion wildnesses for me! Grin

All this love for Gap - trying to recall what Gap did - give me some reminders please? All I can think of are jeans and hoodies with GAP on the front.

AbbeyGrange · 03/10/2025 13:58

I can't think of any particular brand of clothing that comes to mind but for make up it's definitely Revlon.

UpMyself · 03/10/2025 14:39

@AbbeyGrange , I like Revlon too. I used to buy brands like Chanel, Lancome, Estee Lauder and so on, but for most of the products I seemed to be spending more just to get the smart packaging.
I also like Rimmel (not the best packaging) and Boots No 7.

@ozarina. White T-shirts. Jeans. Khakis. Sweatshirts. I have a lot of their jeans from over the years, including my beloved long and lean ones. I have a few Gap Khakis too - not currently trendy, but they are so comfortable.

JohnWickAteMyHamster · 03/10/2025 15:09

Most of my clothes are from H&M...

I just remember lots of basics in lots of colours. I bought stuff there but none of it was in the 'god, I wish I still had that' category that other items were in (e.g. a prussian blue suede size 10 mini I had as a student from TopShop bought in 1995).

babyproblems · 03/10/2025 15:27

@JaninaDuszejko not missing much by not knowing Stradivarius don’t worry 😂🥴

MrsPositivity1 · 03/10/2025 15:30

Boden for years but I just find their stuff now is just mehhhh

Me&Em I adore and my first place of call for an occasion dress (sale only) and their trousers

Blondiney · 03/10/2025 15:32

Almost Me&Em, their clothes fit me perfectly. Too many ruffles and flounces though

I am going to say All Saints although I don’t have a lot of stuff from them, they definitely represent my vibe. A bit rock chick, lots of black, sequins and metallics. Leopard print. And of course the ubiquitous leather biker jacket (of which I do have an All Saints, albeit pre loved from vinted)

That's a very good question. Aside from a dark green wool blazer, a stretchy black mini skirt and, of course, the Long n' Lean jeans (which I've still got), I'm struggling to remember what I bought there and yet from around 1995 until around 2002, I practically lived in that shop, and everything I did buy (whatever it was) felt really cool.

It could all have been clever marketing or they could have really had something, it's hard to tell now.

Editing because, on reflection, I think it was a bit earlier than that, more like 1992-2000.

Salvadoridory · 03/10/2025 17:02

I mainly wear Burberry, sadly the brand was destroyed by the last few designers but luckily everything i have lasts well. I tend to wear that and Gucci with my stalwart mumsnet Amazon leggings, I cannot imagine how I dressed my lower half before those!

UpMyself · 03/10/2025 17:05

I have dungarees, short dungarees, a long chino skirt, an officeskirt, about 5 pairs of Khakis in different colours, a hoodie, lots of jeans, and a trucker jacket.
In the past had various tops from there including plain hoodie fleeces, also various jeans and cords, and jean jackets.
It was a bit like Uniqlo

Judystilldreamsofhorses · 03/10/2025 22:34

Cos and Arket for me, particularly at this time of year where they do excellent knitwear. I just got some jeans from Albaray after seeing someone wearing them on TikTok, and am absolutely delighted with them, so need to look and see what else they have.

Yes that's my memory - nothing earth shattering. Basics.
