A whopping £5 off a £70 spend from John Lewis rewards. I could have been tempted by the advent calendar if it had been bigger. I shop there quite a bit but they keep giving me free cake. I didn’t use the last one and now I’ve got one again.

I'm going to stalk it and if it goes to £100 I'll snap it up too!

Hmm, my JL rewards are rubbish this month too, same tech one and free coffee and cake which I didn’t use last month either. I’m going to ponder on whether I buy the AC for a while longer I think. Disappointing JL!

I think I’m going to get the OK one for DD. It’s a great deal with extra £10 off (THANKS for passing that on) and I’ve compared it to Glossybox, Elle, LiB and YOU and I think it’s the one she’ll love.

Im tempted by Harvey nicks having been put off JL by you all correctly pointing out the existence of too many eye cream! And JL give me these silly rewards instead of letting me win the dinnerware set which I could do with.

I can close a few BAC tabs on my phone now I hope…

The Sophie Conran set is the one we already own. It was our wedding list. So even THAT was a crap offer for me!

Thank you for sharing this code, I've gone for it at £89. OK wasn't on my shortlist initially and I can't remember why, but I agree at that price it's very good value. For me it's a good mix of old faithfuls and new things I'd like to try. The only potential duds are the lip products and the lashes, but even then I'll give them a go.

LiB is unsurprisingly a real let down. Their marketing technique is so cringe that I had decided not to get it on principle, but once they released the list of brands I knew I wasn't going to miss much. The full list is actually worse than I expected.

I got a £10 off £160 at John Lewis but it isn’t enough to tempt me into buying their calendar.
I don’t need another 3 eye creams or more lip products. The perfumes look quite interesting and I like the look of the Medik8 cream. It’s not enough to lure me into spending £225 on the calendar though.

The Fenwicks advent details just say it will be available early October so it should be out soon. It looks a good selection of products but I already have the Thameen in my Harrods fragrance calendar and bought their Charlotte Tilbury oil and lip bath for a good price on Vinted. However, if they offer it with a good gwp I could be swayed!

I’m finding myself quite drawn to the OK a/c at £89, despite the multiple DODs. It would be very easy to swap out those six items and replace them with some reasonably priced items sourced elsewhere.

Having said that, I could say the same about GB, which is cheaper for me with the BD discount.

As a matter of interest: which do people here prefer - GB or OK?

Six or seven DODs for me in GB, (so more to replace than in OK, but that ND palette is nice, I like the box and I didn’t hate that MILK perfume.

I managed to get the GB ND palette for £11 on eBay recently - I bid on the last 8 seconds of the auction. It's lovely.

Quidco have £50 back on spends over £200 at Harvey Nichols - opt in and today only. It works with the advent calendar, so if you are going to buy that, today’s the day!

Going by Beauty Detective it looks like the Harrods Hair and Body calendar briefly came back in stock. It was gone again by the time I looked but if anyone did want it maybe it's worth keeping an eye out.

I’ve just had an email to say that my PDM calendar has been despatched - I have just got to hope that it arrives when my husband is out and I get a chance to hide it away 🤣. I’ve also had a reply from customer services to say that they will send me my introductory free gift separately as soon as the advent calendar has arrived. 😊

It's easily OK for me, but then I haven't really understood the love for GB this year. I think the 30ml perfume and ND palette are the only real draws, and neither tempt me. I haven't tried the Commodity Milk yet so the 5ml in OK is good enough for me, I don't want to get stuck with 30ml if I don't like it.

I actually think ASOS is better than GB, but then I like SDJ and Elasticizer. The brands in OK are better IMO - Eve Lom, AA, Bobbi Brown, Laura Mercier, Nuxe, and the Rodial is full size. GB has Rodial but deluxe size, and the only other 'luxe' brand (luxe at this price point) is Medik8 but it's the floral toner which I don't really want. Perhaps also Emma Hardie, but again I don't like that product. GB also has quite a few very un-luxe brands (MUA, Avant, Brushworks, and Aveeno but at least it's a good practical brand) and hair clips, so more stuff than OK that I'm unlikely to use and unlikely to be able to sell which would feel wasteful and environmentally crap of me.

As always, it's subjective and will depend what you'd use.

I agree with you @owlpassport - although I do really like the actual GB box itself.

I think I prefer the GB as an all rounder. The OK beauty one has some nice products in, but the big named ones I've already tried and I have no use for the eyelashes. But I think it's all down to individual preference 😊
