Irregular choice shoes is going bust

Apart from sympathy of course, for people who have lost their jobs, I can't say I'm gonna miss the brand. Horrendous styles of flowery shit.

Ooh I'm with you, horrible looking shoes but I'll admit to being a little fascinated by them too, they're so ugly.
Sympathise with people who have lost their jobs

DuesToTheDirt · 11/09/2025 21:18

I don't have any personally but I always think they look fab. What a shame.

scarletwidow · 11/09/2025 21:36

I collect them - I'm devastated 😭

TheChosenTwo · 11/09/2025 21:38

Never seen a pair of their shoes I liked.
Shit of course for anyone who’s lost their job.

Leafyleaferson · 11/09/2025 21:42

I wore blue glittery irregular choice heels for my wedding. Not my sort of thing anymore though. I can't say I've seen them in the wild for at least the last 5 years.

EvelynBeatrice · 11/09/2025 21:44

It’ll be because Angela Rayner has stopped buying them! 🙂 I believe she was a big fan.

gellielli · 11/09/2025 21:45

I liked some of their trainer style shoes. This is sad. Their heels are hideous though.

EvelynBeatrice · 11/09/2025 21:46

Not my thing but they were fun and some were a work of art. On an ‘everything the same’ high street, will be a shame they’re done.

Doggymummar · 11/09/2025 21:48

I used to love them 20 years ago, I have some beautiful jewellery but I've not seen anything recently

soupyspoon · 11/09/2025 21:49

I bought a pair of forest green suede heels around 20 years ago, they're gorgeous but not really ever been able to wear them. I wont get rid of them though, they have a big silvery soft flower on the front. Lovely

I love a lot of their styles.

DiscoBob · 11/09/2025 21:52

I coveted and worshipped a green pair of ankle boots with a cat face on them, called 'the whimsical miaow'.
I finally bought them and the cat embellishments fell off after one wear. 😐
I was devastated. This was in 2006.

If their quality was that poor I'm surprised they lasted that long. Also the designs are so quirky that the more popular they become, the less appealing. As many people who like that kind of stuff want to seem and look quite unique.

ladyamy · 11/09/2025 21:58

They looked great, but speaking from experience simply impossible to walk in

FlappyFish · 11/09/2025 21:59

I collected them for a while as a phase. Not to wear on the whole, though when I dressed more 50’s style I did.

They moved away from their core market and did far too many horrendously priced collaborations that were quite unwearable. Care Bears. My Little Pony. Muppets.

The early Disney collabs like Cinderella were more inspired by than having cartoon faces in them.

Since the pandemic no one really dresses up and some can be more fancy dress than wear. The Nick of time are my favourites. Releases used to sell out in 30 mins.

The diversification and quality went a bit too far. But economically they also proved themselves out whilst quality also plummeted.

I haven’t bought any for years. They are my very expensive ornaments.

TheCraicDealer · 11/09/2025 22:09

I was never a fan, but I admired the artistry of the designs. I randomly went on their website the other night just for a laugh. I seem to recall they also had a bit of a rep for being horrendously uncomfortable?

I do wonder if the wackier they got the more they were really just selling to collectors rather than on the scale they needed to make it viable. Their more classic styles worked with retro/pin up inspired fashion quite well, but that’s not been in for years now.

PigletSanders · 11/09/2025 22:51

I always thought they were truly revolting. Overly silly, massively uncomfortable and make you look like a pantomime Disney villain. Plus mass-produced individuality is ludicrous.

I think they probably have been on borrowed time since about 2002.

FirstFallopians · 11/09/2025 22:56

Sad about people losing their jobs, and the loss of a brand which weren’t scared of being non-beige.

But my god those shoes were ugly. Everyone I knew that wore them gave off mega “I’m dead quirky, me” vibes.

PacificState · 11/09/2025 23:02

Oh, that’s a shame. I absolutely love the fundamental shape of their heels - round toe, slightly lifted, moderate heel. They were pretty much the only place you could get properly round-toed heels. When I lived in Brighton years ago I had a very nice pair of grey felted heels from there that were almost tasteful. I agree that the garishness has really stepped up over the last decade. They still did the odd model that wasn’t totally OTT, but they were getting hard to find. I’d give my eye teeth for a plain black pair, but they hardly ever did them.

Floisme · 12/09/2025 07:37

I’ve never worn them and never would have done. I’m still sorry they’ve gone because I don’t want to end up with a high street that’s entirely owned by Inditex and Hennes & Mauritz.

Antimimisti · 12/09/2025 07:47

They always looked much nicer off your feet than on them.

Sorry for everyone who will lose their jobs.

LifeBeginsToday · 12/09/2025 08:34

I had a pair of Tom & Jerry Christmas high tops a few years ago that I got in the sale and they looked fun but were incredibly uncomfortable and just wouldn't break in. They were basically plastic shoes for £140 (full price). I'm not surprised they are going.

ArtTheClownIsNotAMime · 12/09/2025 08:37

The world will be a fraction less ugly.

Danikm151 · 12/09/2025 08:46

I have about 5 pairs. Took me ages to get the miaow cat boots on eBay 😅 I wear them at Halloween

they got way too expensive though so I stopped buying any- no doubt others feel the same way so now it’s going bye bye

MousseMousse · 12/09/2025 08:51

Doggymummar · 11/09/2025 21:48

Same. They had some beautiful shoes in the noughties, but they've been reproducing the same styles now for years and they've become a pastiche of themselves.

SpeculatingRooks · 12/09/2025 08:54

I did slightly want the My Little Pony Dream Castle handbag. Hope it goes in the sale as it's ££££

Cinaferna · 12/09/2025 08:56

They used to do some plain shoes in really interesting shapes. But when I looked recently they were all revoltingly tacky plastic figures caught in transparent wedge heels. Fugly. Shame, as their more ordinary (for them) shoes were good.
