Finding knickers that fit

HeneralClux · 08/09/2025 20:50

Hoping someone can help me! All my knickers are really uncomfortable, they literally fall down. I have a couple of pairs which I make sure are available if I am playing netball or going walking. They are quite old and the last ones of 3/5 packs M&S. I can't get more the same. I've tried midi and bikini style Sloggi, White Stuff, Next and some bigger gym/runner style seamless ones from Amazon. I want to try again but I don't want to buy any more that fall down! I can't understand whether they are too big or too small or the wrong shape! Any idea why this is happening ?!

I buy high waist ones from Molke for everyday. They're the best ones for me. Everything else falls down or is made of polyester

WhoWhereWhatWhy · 08/09/2025 20:54

I had exactly this problem all my life until I bought some suggested on a Mumsnet post about three or so years ago. They’re fabulous, they don’t fall down or get lost in my backside. They’re very ugly though, like mens y fronts, that’s the downside. And the waistband is thick so that’s always the last bit to dry when I’ve washed them.

if you’re not put off (!), they’re Wirarpa and they’re on Amazon.

GimmieABreakOr3 · 08/09/2025 20:56

Are you wearing the wrong size?!

yesbutnobut · 08/09/2025 22:19

Stripe & Stare are fabulous. Get them in the sale

ManyShapesOfPasta · 08/09/2025 22:22

Surely you need a smaller size?

EdgarAllenRaven · 08/09/2025 22:42

If they’re falling down they must be too big, surely..?
Are you very slim? What size are they?
M&S is my go-to. Or John Lewis.

PangolinPan · 08/09/2025 22:49

I used to wear the character ones from Primark, then I had two c sections and now wear the full briefs from Sainsbury's with the thick band of lace, one size down.

Millionsofmonkeys · 08/09/2025 22:54

Wirapa knickers. No contest. I don't buy the y front looking ones, I have these:

Great quality, comfortable.

I Iove Stripe and Stare, in the right size though of course.
If I bought them in the wrong, bigger size, they'd fall down.
The Op's problem isn't the brand, it's the size.

Maddy70 · 08/09/2025 23:34

Tesco high leg multi pack. Honestly the most comfortable and longest lasting I've ever had

TheThingsWeDo4Love · 08/09/2025 23:53

I’ve not read all your replies OP, but I bought a pack of ELLE pants.
I have found them to be ever so comfortable, and apart from the name ELLE emblazoned across the front band, they are plain.m, and they seem to hide my little bulge that I try (and often fail) to ignore.
Best of all, they don’t wriggle up into your private parts, where some pants constantly find their way up there, and drive me bananas.
I don’t know what other shape and sizes the ELLE pants come in, and I obviously don’t know your shape/size.
The ones I have, fit my shape so well, which is that I’m roughly 5’5”, size 10, and I have not got generous hips.

Good luck, as badly fitting anything is awful, but with underwear, it’s imperative to have it comfortable.
comfortable and sexy at the same time deserves bonus points 🤣

JDM625 · 09/09/2025 00:03

Are you very narrow in the hips? Buying too large? I have some nickers which started falling down because the elastic had started to go. I've never tried them but a friend raves about this brand.

I moved to Body by M&S cotton rich bikini knickers. They fit really well under my big tummy 😔
I tried Sainsbury’s knickers as a lot of people on MN recommended them but I didn’t like them. They were not big but still felt like they would fall off.

Idontknownowwhat · 09/09/2025 00:14

What size are you? If a 14 or over, please- please!! Try the yours multipacks of knickers, they have a decent elastic waistband, not once have they rolled, dropped or fallen! I've felt really good in them...I've spent years hoiking up my knickers cos they won't flipping stay!

WannaFOffOnHoliday · 09/09/2025 01:39

Tesco. Perfect for me

Yes, they’re not the sexiest of knickers, but they’re the best I’ve ever owned! Having an actual waistband rather than just relying on clinging makes a big difference. They do slightly different coloured ones now without the extra seams, so less y front!

GimmieABreakOr3 · 09/09/2025 08:09

Another vote for Stripe & Stare here. They are so so comfortable and soft.

I'm a size 14 and I'm buying size 14 pants. I do have smallish hips but I'm a bit rounder than I used to be! I'm wary to buy a size smaller in case they don't fit, but the two pairs that still fit are smaller style so you may well be right !

Are you not better off just going into a store like M&S and trying both a Size 12 and 14 on for size…….

I'm a size 14 but quite small hips. Was a size 12 most of my life and was much easier to get things that fitted then!

Ooh I haven't thought about trying on everyday type knickers in store. I do find that they only start falling down after I've moved about for a bit though...

Yes, I'm narrow in the hips for my overall size. The sloggi and white stuff pants fell down from new.

Thanks all for the recommendations, I will check them all out and potentially try a dress size smaller than my usual size to see if the hip measurement is the problem.

The actual sexy ones that are matching sets with my bras (Curvy Kate brand) fit well- although I dont wear them for hikes/cycling/netball to be fair. If they aren't sexy, it's fine although I've never got on with high waisted ones. I'm a size 14, 5' 4. When I was a size 12 I had no issues with knickers
