Cheap raincoat for walking the dog that doesn’t look shit?

I need a new raincoat. It must have pockets and a hood, and cover my bum, but doesn’t need to go knee length.

Everything I see gives off a vibe of “I’m hiking the Adirondacks trail then making it to Everest base camp”. I’m not going on an expedition. I just need something simple and not overly trek-ish. Please help. 🙏

Do you like the dry robe type coats? Oodie do a much cheaper version which is actually waterproof. Not just shower proof but full blown downpour proof. Nice big pockets and mid-thigh length. I've worn it this week in the random downpours and it doesn't get too hot, but wearing it in winter kept me plenty warm enough.

@hungryduck thank you, very imaginative suggestion but not my style I’m afraid 😟. I’m looking for something comfy and warm, but also elegant enough to wear around town.

Not sure of your budget but I've just bought one of Baleno's Chelsea coats from Vinted for the same purpose.

I use a thick see through raincoat with a hood and poppers. £10 off amazon. I go for woodland walks in it. It withstood the worst of storms. Im impressed.
I haven't got round to buying a proper coat yet.

Look at Uniqlo. Lots of good dog walking coats or waterproof jackets.

I got a cheap Barbour wax jacket from Vinted. Resealed it and it looks great. I bought it last autumn, wore it all winter and it's ready to go again this year..

I found a brand on TikTok called puffit. I have ordered and I am waiting on a jacket coming. Might be worth a look.

I love my seasalt Janelle. Very expensive at £180 brand new, but I just managed to get another one second hand one from Vinted for £30 and it’s near perfect - just the older style.

Didricksons or M&S had some of their own version for £100 in store last week

What is “cheap” for you? I’d find a more expensive brand you like then get it off Vinted.

I get Regatta and cotton traders on eBay and can usually find them for around £15 or so.

For dog walks I’d actually get the best you can afford , even if you wait for a sale to get a reduced price .
I don’t mean designer , i mean one that you won’t overheat in on a long dog walk , so something from a good outdoor wear shop .
The number of times I’ve gone out in my Lighthouse brand coat to walk my dog and felt roasting 😩 in the winter , I wish I’d invested in a different one .
its fine if it’s absolutely freezing 🥶 but in all honesty in my opinion we get a lot of chilly weather but not really cold 🥶

Slightly off track but I have the Orla Kiely walking boots and they are super comfortable and totally waterproof. Just back from a week in the Lakes where it rained every day (so no mountain treks!).
