I love bags.i swap regularly, my best friend buys one at a time and uses it until it breaks/gets trashed
Just for fun are you a buy a new one quite regularly type or a battered old bag type?

Well I’ve only just stopped using my nappy bag as my go to - my son is nearly 6 🤣

Crategate · 05/09/2025 21:49

I would feel so guilty for the planet if I bought a new one before the last was wrecked. My daily mum bag (for snacks, water bottles, plasters etc) is about 30 years old now.

I do rotate work bags into day bags when they look a bit rough though.

TragicMuse · 05/09/2025 21:50

I’m a swap around person! I’m just looking at what to change to for Autumn…

Moveoverdarlin · 05/09/2025 21:52

I’ve got loads for different occasions. Clutch bags in black, nude, navy, leopard. Big totes tote in cream, black, tan. Holiday raffia, straw bags.

How can you wear the same bag everyday? One bag is unlikely to go with every outfit.

Havesomecommonsense · 05/09/2025 21:56

My friend does. She's currently got one that looks like it's a bookshelf. It's her handbag, she doesn't care if it goes with her outfit.
I am a swapper,as I'm always on the hunt for the perfect bag

im a swap around person too, but try and use what I have before I buy new, however, a new bag is always nice and I don’t have a burgundy one which would be good for autumn!

Havesomecommonsense · 05/09/2025 22:07

I'm in the market for a burgundy one as well! I'm thinking suede or velvet but cant find quite the right one...

Swapper here too but I have two or three on regular rotation and the others for more occasional use. Got about 8 I think, all fairly inexpensive.

bumblebramble · 05/09/2025 22:13

One bag, that works with my entire wardrobe for a season.

I did project 333 a couple of times and I found it brilliant. These days I’m not as strict about the number of clothes, but I create a capsule with a limited range of colours so everything kind of works together.

I can be a bit scruff-blind so re-evaluating periodically helps me see when things are past their prime.

BabarEnFamille · 05/09/2025 22:16

I love bags - currently have about 7 or 8 on rotation throughout the year

I'm really interested in this. What type of bag(s) were in your capsule?

I have at least 30 handbags. None of them are truly worn. I tend to use 3-4 on rotation depending on what I'm doing and how much I want to carry ie work/weekend/dinner etc

Silverbirchleaf · 05/09/2025 22:21

I have three main bags, a summer one, winter one, and work handbag. The summer one is more boho, and the winter one is more formal looking and from Laura Ashley when they still had shops.

I have other bags which are used for when I don’t want a larger bag (such as nights outs), days out (so can fit water bottle in), weddings and funerals. However, the three bags above are my main workhorses and will be used until they wear out.

What kind of bags though? I like bags too, but not the overly luxurious ones. I have a few michael kors, valentino, steve madden and 2 vivienne Westwood. Would possibly think that i love my steve madden more than the other ones tbh. Westwood bags has only been used a few times then packed away. I also have purses to match the bags cos I am i a weirdo that likes matchy things 😅

I have 4 Le Pliage, navy, red, green and pink for everyday use. I vaguely try to match or contrast the colour to what I'm wearing but beyond that I don't care if they "go with the outfit" . They're utilitarian.

I've a small number of bags for formal, black tie occasions and even then I'm not that bothered whether they "go with the outfit"

I love clothes, get lots of compliments on my clothes but I've little interest in bags.

stayathomer · 06/09/2025 08:13

Oh god battered battered! And I get so attached am nearly crying when I know it’s time for it to be changed!!!!!

ChocoChocoLatte · 06/09/2025 08:13

@HavesomecommonsenseI found the most perfect burgundy one the other day and forgot to save the link 😫

when I have a minute I’ll trawl through my watched threads as it was a follow from a post on here.

This is me too. I need different sizes, colours, styles etc, to go with my outfits. Nothing looks worse than someone who clearly put effort into their clothes, but is carrying a bag they use literally every day that clearly is supposed to ‘go with everything’, but it doesn’t!

I fear this is where I go wrong as I'm on the quest for the perfect bag that goes with everything but I fear it doesn't exist

I just don’t see how one bag can suit every outfit and every occasion @Havesomecommonsense, so I have sadly concluded one bag just cannot fit all! I’m not even really a bag person (shoes is a whole other ball game, lol).

I never notice bags. A terrible outfit isn't going to be improved by a bag and if I see someone in a great outfit I won't be looking at the bag.

Ddakji · 06/09/2025 09:30

I’m not much of an S&B person but I find it interesting that people’s outfit can vary so radically that they need loads of different bags to match. I have a couple, winter and summer colours of the same bag, but as my clothes are all fairly similar just a couple of bags go with everything. And one smart one for those rare occasions (I don’t need to dress smartly for work).

Itsadoglife · 06/09/2025 09:34

I’m a bit like your friend 🙈 I couldn’t be bothered with the transferring over of everything. I tend to go quite neutral, my bag isn’t huge, but it’s got a lot in. I can’t believe some people don’t really have one, or have a small one. You name it, I’ve probably got it in the handbag:- tissues, nail file, mirror, pen, hand cream, sanitiser, purse, glasses cloth, little pack of medicine/first aid bits (paracetamol, anti histamines, savlon, plasters, antiseptic wipe), tictacs, sanitary pad, tampax, lip gloss. It’s far too much stuff to interchange daily with other bags 🤣

My husband mocks me, but then needs to use stuff all the time 🤣

Coffeeishot · 06/09/2025 09:38

I have 7 bags i use on rotation a couple are "going out" bags i love a bag i don't have and expensive bags though.

TealReader · 06/09/2025 09:40

I’m really not into bags and try to avoid needing to carry them where possible. But I have concluded that my wardrobe is lacking somewhat in handbags so I’m looking for some good mid range ones which will last me for years.
