I love this cardigan and thought about buying it as a treat for recent weight loss but I have a nagging suspicion it won’t look stylish?

I think if you have to ask on here and have a "nagging suspicion" about it, the answer is don't buy it.

DeeKitch · 01/09/2025 14:09

Style is nice but the material is not

Overtheatlantic · 01/09/2025 14:18

Isn’t merino wool just a lightweight wool?

I’m a sucker for argyle. 🤨

Merino wool is a perfectly acceptable material but I'd expect to pay at least double that price for a merino cardigan. I wouldn't buy woolen clothes that aren't ideally UK made although EU made if I really liked it is ok.

NotMeNoNo · 01/09/2025 14:37

Now isn't that funny. I've got an old 1990s knitting pattern I have a yen to knit now collars are back in fashion, I wonder if it's the inspiration? (The model shot has it quite fitted but I can only find this version online, still beautifully knitted of course). https://ravel.me/tara-cardigan

I love it that these shapes and details are back in style.
OP I would size down for a neat fit in your link. Maybe wear it with a black camisole and dramatic wide leg trousers and boots. At least it's pure merino wool.

Tara (Cardigan) pattern by Kim Hargreaves

Waist-length cardigan with argyle pattern arranged vertically up each front.

Yes, I see your point and fully agree. Thank you.

It's a bit golf blokey and boxy? It definitely wouldn't flatter me (shortwaisted hourglass) but if you are a bit straighter in the body and not booby, and slim, maybe.

LemonTT · 01/09/2025 15:21

I like the style and it’s quite on trend. Don’t like the shade of green with the grey trousers. Maybe with black or cream trousers the green would feel warmer.

Overtheatlantic · 01/09/2025 15:59

I love a bit of golf blokey 😁 but I think I’ve decided against it. I’m busty. Maybe I will get some argyle socks instead!

I love it!

EscapadeVelocity · 01/09/2025 18:28

I really like it, in terms of look. But it is very cheap for wool - and Made in China.

UpMyself · 01/09/2025 19:14

Not if you're busty. The argyle bosom will not look good.
It's not a nice shade of green.

Bonsatater · 01/09/2025 19:51

I think it looks lovely and im.not really into green. Why don't you order it and you could always send it back. And well done on your weight loss x

henlake7 · 01/09/2025 20:26

If you love it then get it, it looks like the kind of thing you could either style to look trendy or frumpy.
(Not a fan personally but then I just don't like collars on knitwear, or that bile green colour that seems popular this year).

TheChosenTwo · 01/09/2025 20:29

Not really a fan myself but I have a couple of colleagues that I could see wearing and suiting this.
think what I don’t like mainly though is the shade of green, it’s a bit jarring on my eyeballs!
I quite like an Argyll design though.

mdinbc · 01/09/2025 20:48

I like the look, and bought an argyle vest top last year from Zara. But I would be careful with that colour of green, it's a bit yellow-olive. It can't hurt to order it and try it on with other items to see if it works for you.

GameOfJones · 02/09/2025 12:02

My general rule is that if you are unsure and something isn't a definite "yes" then it's not worth buying.

PosiePetal · 02/09/2025 12:03

I love anything retro so I love this.

GoldDuster · 02/09/2025 12:17

Yes, satisfy the craving for argyle with some top end socks. This would look good on Tilda Swinton with some 1930's mens pleated trews, but I'm not sure what it would do to the big of bust. (I would look an unhinged fright in it.)

UpMyself · 02/09/2025 12:33

If I wore it, I'd look like busty box.
The tights are great but my legs are too chunky for them.
The diamond pattern would be distorted.

Cantonet · 02/09/2025 12:49

I like the colour - 'vintage' or an 'old green'.
I wear a lot of this as a soft autumnal colouring.
I also like the cardigan but it would be a little overwhelming on 5 ft 3 me.
Yes, Tilda Swinton would suit it to a T.

It's 100% merino. What's "not nice" about that?
