Thoughts on these? Stylish or old lady?

I want to get something waterproof and comfortable to wear out and about in winter. I have wide feet so a lot of usual boots don't fit me. I saw these but am second guessing myself. I wear mostly jeans, wool joggers or smart trousers in winter with the occasional dress.

Hideous to me, but lots of people love barefoot shoes. If you love them you should buy them.

Lunaballoon · 01/09/2025 07:36

I wouldn’t wear them but then I am an ‘old lady’ 🙄

EponeeRae · 01/09/2025 07:36

I think the white or grey ones will be ok with jeans.

Largestlegocollectionever · 01/09/2025 07:38

I’m a fan of barefoot shoes and like them

Sunshineandgrapefruit · 01/09/2025 07:42

Ok a mixed bag so far. They seem Marmite! I would wear them, just not sure whether they would make me look shit. I have white trainers already. I was thinking grey or I think there's va brown leather version
on Amazon.

I have barefoot shoes (only for the gym) and don’t mind them but I think those are horrid sorry.

MortifiedFrown · 01/09/2025 08:01

I love them and think they look great! I wonder if they work for a high instep?

they make feel like i could run fast!

Blarn · 01/09/2025 08:05

I'm not sure. There's something about them and I can't place whether they are good or awful! It's confusing me!

I think the tan shade they have is better than the green you have linked to. That looks like it would go with more.

MellowPinkDeer · 01/09/2025 08:06

Absolutely gross ( sorry)

AnnaQuayInTheUk · 01/09/2025 08:07

I think they look ugly but I'm not a fashionista so don't listen to me!

QueenOfTheDarkAges · 01/09/2025 08:33

They wouldn't be my cup of tea personally but I could imagine them looking very cool with the right outfit/attitude.

Sunshineandgrapefruit · 01/09/2025 08:42

Hmmm. Sounds like a swerve. I wouldn't buy them just for the one outfit. It would need to be an most-day thing. The quest for comfy waterproof and stylish continues!

They actually make me feel quite queasy. 😅

Chemenger · 01/09/2025 09:24

I’m an old lady that only wears comfy shoes and I would not wear something that ugly. However I never like the shoes that people recommend on MN so these could be spot on fashion wise.

SorciereDesMemises · 01/09/2025 09:32

They look comfy but quite fussy. I wonder if these might also fit the bill? I bought them in grey this summer for bush/ desert walking as I hate heavy boots and they are very comfortable. Still not the height of style, but I think they’ll look okay in public.

MaggieBsBoat · 01/09/2025 09:34

I like them a lot. I’ve stopped wearing barefoot shoes though (had two pairs) as I got plantar fasciitis and even looking at them makes my soles (soul) hurt. Cute though!

MaggieBsBoat · 01/09/2025 09:35

Screw it! I think I might buy some! 😂

Parnassia · 01/09/2025 09:38

Barefoot style is going to feel a bit chilly underfoot in properly cold weather, so for that reason alone I wouldn't buy them for your use case @Sunshineandgrapefruit .

Cloanie · 01/09/2025 10:33

Omg, can we please stop the ageism! “Old lady”.! Really? When is the agism going to abate. It’s 2025, surely this agist tripe can die.

(You think old ladies wear these trainers?! Surely not?!)

EscapadeVelocity · 01/09/2025 10:41

Come on, @Sunshineandgrapefruit - are you absolutely sure that no old lady in human history has ever approached stylishness?

I’m in my 60s and like barefoot shoes for some things. I don’t like those. But then, you wouldn’t want my opinion anyway …

what's your definition of "old lady"?

I think they are ugly and I wouldn't wear them. Don't know if I am an "old lady" or not.

tostaky · 01/09/2025 10:47

The style - no (but im in london so who knows what is stylish whete you live)
Barefoot - no! I used to run in vivo barefoot trainers but it did certainly not help my pelvic floor. I need a bit of cushioning!

They are most definitely not ‘spot on fashion wise’. I’m not sure they’re spot on anything-wise apart from comfort perhaps.

Sorry OP but I think they look awful. Assuming you’re asking on here because you want some shoes that also look good?

Have you looked at Sorel? They’re usually very reliable for being waterproof etc but tend to be a little less offensive on the eyes.

LhudeSingCuccu · 01/09/2025 10:48

Very fugly.
