TillyScoutsmum · 31/05/2008 16:36

Just noticed there are a couple of people on MN planning weddings at the moment.

Does anyone want to show their wedding dress ?

Obviously, already marrieds with any pics of theirs are also welcome

Indulge me - I'm bored and a teeny bit wedding dress obsessed at the moment (looking for mine for November)

Tilly, did you see the YouTube footage of my wedding/first dance? I posted a link to it on our PN thread. My dress isn't that exciting but dh's hair is. Think there may be a couple of pics on my profile too.

TillyScoutsmum · 02/06/2008 10:43

MrsBadger - you look stunning - so classy

SOH - I saw your youtube clip - you both looked gorgeous (see LG&T is right ) and you looked like you had a really fun wedding

notjustmom - what a coincidence - I'm only down the road from you in Kinver..

Here is mine!

www.bbride.com/acatalog/Product_Range__Lady_Jayne_206.html

I don't think it looks great in the picture. It has a lot of beading sewn on that you can't see there.

I tried it on when dd was a baby and she was transfixed by the sparkly bits!

BlueDragonfly · 02/06/2008 10:57

tillyscout, that is gorgeous

I have had that maggie sottero one (celeste) on my wish list since forever!

unfortunatly my budget is a hell of a lot smaller and will not stretch to that kind of dress

Tigerschick · 02/06/2008 10:57

Can't find mine as it was a few years ago. Don't have any digital photos either!
It is a 2 piece with a full pale gold skirt and a red top with a paisley-type design in blue and gold - but predominently red. I've worn the top a few times since with black trousers or skirt (can't get in it any more tho )

I was originally looking for something very simple, white or ivory and plain.
I tried on about a million dresses and would never have looked at the one I ended up falling in love with unless the assistant had suggested it. The moral of this story is: have a general idea of what you want but have an open mind when you go to buy.

Congrats BTW

ShowOfHands · 02/06/2008 11:01

I do like that dress TSM. Don't worry about green being bad luck, it's a load of old cobblers. I wanted to wear red on my wedding day but my Grandma's ongoing comments about nightwalkers and hussies put me off.

I've managed to get back into my wedding dress this week for the first time since getting pg. May wear it to Sainsbos later...

Bluedragonfly - it might be worth looking at a website like bestbrialrpices or houseofbrides if you have your heart set on a dress by an American designer (like Maggie Sottero). You'll probably get it for at least half price (especially with the $ being so weak at the moment). Its a bit of a risk because you have to measure yourself and order the size, but might be worth it. (Don't shout at me notjustmom )

SOH - please go to Sainsbos in your dress. I can still get into my dress from my last wedding - I did suggest getting it dyed and wearing it again but DP didn't think it was a good plan (despite having serious tight arse tendencies)

i don't wear dresses so need to go to a real place to try some on to see what does and doesn't suit and if they are heavy or not so can't really. Not set on American designers, just that dress!!

SOH Do go to SAinsbo in your dress can imagine the thread later on lol!

Just imo, but, if I were geeting married now I would definitely not have a strapless dress. Every weding I have been to for the past 5 years the bride has worn a srtapless dress. I think it's become a bot too uniform or predictable.

Saying that, TSM I love the dress you are considering (yes I know it's strapless) but love the colour, and as it's differnt anyway so I think strapless OK.

I'm not staying strapless is not nice by the way, all the brides looked beautiful, but I just think I'd personally want something differnt from everyother dress seen for the last 5 years.

Can't show a picture of mine as it was handmade and I have no digtal pictures, but it was white off the shoulder, boned bodice with a ruffled effect arpund the hips to give a bustle effsct, straight skirt, but long train.

I wouldn't choose that now either, but it was lovely at the time.

CountessDracula · 02/06/2008 11:29

I so agree
they are going to date the weddings so accurately

BlueDragonfly · 02/06/2008 11:49

i can't wear strapless as my boobs aren't big enough to hld it up well, they are at mo but i am bf and won't get married until either he stops or will take a bottle. There are even fewer BF friendly dresses lol!

Having said that, my aunt is a dress maker and will make me matching straps if i need them!

Flamesparrow · 02/06/2008 11:49

At the end of the day you need the dress that you fall in love with. It doesn't matter if it is strapless like everyone else, or black n purple and nothing like anyone else's. The right dress will be obvious from the moment you put it on.

Flamesparrow · 02/06/2008 11:50

What is your budget BDF so we can hunt?

Thinking if you can try it on somewhere to know what size etc

ComeOVeneer · 02/06/2008 11:51

Mine is on my profile, only the top part though. It was a burgundy velvet bodice, with cream silk roses around the neckline (slightly off the shoulder) with a cream silk skirt (straight with a train that could be pinned up to create a bustle.)
