What would happen to Highgrove in the long term? I would have thought it would have been willed to Harry. So many houses!

I think Highgrove is owned by the Duchy of Cornwall so presumably goes to William? Maybe one of William's children will want to live there - particularly if they are a little more removed from some of the royal duties - I've always thought it was one of the nicer residences.

eggandonion · 19/09/2025 12:42

I'd quite like Highgrove myself!

bluegreygreen · 19/09/2025 13:25

Highgrove belongs to the Duchy of Cornwall - KC3 currently has it on a lease from the Duchy

I agree, Charles said he was keeping Clarence House as his London residence, and using BP for ceremonial occasions only. It's apparently cold, damp and in a fair bit of disrepair.
I presume if Camilla is the dowager Queen at some point she will disappear to Ray Mill rather than staying at CH. So it would be available to William and Kate too.

I think I read that Edward and Sophie have apartments in BP for when they need to stay in London.

Harry was offered apartments in BP but turned it down

Well I'd rehouse Sophie and Edward, they just need somewhere to lay their head when in town.

Question who owns Gatcombe Park?

bluegreygreen · 19/09/2025 15:13

Princess Anne owns Gatcombe Park

(Apologies @Maireas - we seem to have strayed from the subject a bit!)

Don't apologise, upthread it took quite a different turn as well!

And I'm usually lukewarm on Sophie's shirt dresses but this silk Gabriela Hearst is very pretty. And a single-breasted jacket on Edward - victory!

Finally, here's some photos I took at the Cartier exhibition today. All a bit understated isn't it??

A few more, just tiaras. I love the black kokoshnik!

Thanks, Deftly. Sophie and Edward both look really nice there. Edward's suit is a good fit and a much better style for him, and I really like Sophie's dress. It's a flattering cut and, although it's floral it's not too fussy. Some nice looks from Leti.
What can I say about Cartier! More is more!
Some of those pieces are just fantastic, they must have caught the light and looked amazing!

That's a lovely dress that Sophie is wearing. And Edward also looks very smart.

Great photos @KiIIingMeDeftly - just the thing for popping to the shops I think! 🙂

Maireas · 19/09/2025 16:13

Great pictures. Grace was so beautiful. I love that she wore brooches in her hair!
Nice to see her daughters wear the earrings - they're beauties.

That multi strand diamond necklace is quite something. Just up Queen Mary’s street by any chance?😆

Maireas · 19/09/2025 16:21

Just the thing she'd wear for a family dinner at Balmoral, after a rainy walk.

If I may ask for advice:

I am going up to London next week and may be able to wangle a free hour at some point. I would love to see some beautiful royal clothes or jewels if anyone has any recommendations for a current exhibition in central London?

gingercat02 · 19/09/2025 16:56

The tutti fruit gems tiara is gorgeous. There are some very ostentatious pieces!

If you can get tickets to Cartier its totally worth it. There are also some splendid tiaras in the V&A's regular collection, in the jewellery galleries.

gingercat02 · 19/09/2025 17:03

The Grimaldi ladies certainly know how to rock the rocks. Stick them in your hair, on your collar, anywhere you have space.

I love that blue on Sophie. Pretty dress.

Yes, I would second that - definitely go to the V&A if you can't see the Cartier.
