I am lost in a sea of on-line ads and would appreciate some personal recommendations please.

Context: used to wear full make up in my professional job in my youth but haven’t done so for years while raising dc, have outdoor lifestyle. Children have now left home and I have more bandwidth to devote to my appearance, skin care and make up etc, but crikey, where to start? The products have all changed in twenty or so years! My make-up bag is literally empty apart from an emery board and an old lipstick! 😁

Fair-ish combination skin with yellow undertones prone to redness on cheeks and nose and from over-heating! Used to have mouse hair but now it’s grey, Also quite sensitive to the feel of things on my face and eyes. Can’t bear heavy make up!

Also, I’m not made of money and Trinny and Jones Road seem quite expensive although I have tried a few tiny testers and have been impressed, especially by JR Vitamin face base. Are there other cheaper brands that do the job?

To be honest I don’t know what BB creams are or miracle blurs or whatever? Can someone explain to me what I need in a very simple way? I can’t be doing with anything too complicated!

I am looking for a combined sun protector, and tinted moisturiser. I think! Open to advice!

A combined blusher and lipstick,

And a good mascara to start.

Do people still wear powder nowadays?

Can anyone help please?

I would definitely wear a moisturizer and an spf.

My skin errs on the dry and sensitive side.
i use Cerave hydrating wash in the am
nip and fab vitamins C
weleda light food moisturizer
la Roche posay spf

make up wise (I like a really light natural look)

My current summer routine is -

tinted moisturizer such as NARS or bare minerals complexion rescue (this is fab)

pixie on the glow blush stick (fool proof!)
NYX gloss stain (once the gloss wears off your left with a lovely lip tint which lasts all day)
Any waterproof mascara

Evening I use an oil cleanser to get rid of the spf and make up
then Cerave
weleda night cream

Very quick and easy and quite a good place to start if you want to get back into make up.

Wow! Have just returned to this thread!

I see there are lots more really knowledgeable replies that I need to catch up on!

Thank you so much everyone … I’m making notes!

All of these golden nuggets of beauty and skin-care wiisdom are very much appreciated and (lest I forget!) a special thank you to the over-sixties for commenting too! 😀. Or for slanting your advice to that age group!

There are so many products out there it’s really difficult to find your way through the thicket of information so thanks for clarifying it simply!

Just wanted to add, I recently asked Chat GPT to design a Korean skin care regime for mature, sensitive skin. The results were excellent, and actually included 3 products I'd already been using for years! It's just another tool to help you with your skincare OP. Worth a try?

Better to not rely on chatgpt
