I've been using NUXE body oil balm & love it but it is out of stock everywhere (not sure if they have discontinued it). Please can I have your body moisturiser recommendations?

That's not an answer to my question at all. Not all nail varnishes contain formaldehyde. The evidence around endocrine disrupters are far from conclusive - I'm not saying there isn't an effect just that is far from the clear cut conclusion you have drawn. Talc for example which has been shown to have conclusive links to cancer is not because it's an endocrine disruptor but because it is mined where there is asbestos present, a substance which in known to cause cancer (and it's absorbed through our skin, we breathe it in).

That should say 'its not absorbed through our skin, we breath it in'

Many make up products still contain talc. I realised how many of mine did after using the Yuka app.

The issue is no one really knows what the safe levels are. Not really.

TBH, if we live our lives concerned about every little thing, we might as well stay in bed. The European Union (and the ECHA by default) have been accused of nannying us, it’s a bit hypocritical to say they’d allow cosmetic companies to poison us but are over cautious about other things

toastedteddy · 08/08/2025 07:54

OP it might be a bit late but the body shop body yoghurts are my favourite of all time

Sorry because this is slightly off topic. What clinic has told you that? Its absolutely not true. I've been through (successful) IVF and worked with clinics and this is the first time I've heard anything like that. Nothing wrong with avoiding stuff if you want to but there is no damage to embryos because you wore nail varnish. That's ludicrous.

Both times with nhs in Scotland and a private clinic in London. It’s standard.

Yes they do, but as I said, not an endocrine disruptor.

Oh that's interesting, I was never once told that with my clinics in Birmingham and it was only a couple of years ago. There is only a very brief exposure to the air but clinics are fitted with HEPA and activated carbon filters to minimise air pollutants and effects from volatile organic compounds.

I know, but there are many other chemicals that are. There is a whole range of toxic chemicals in toiletries and make up. I was reading about this thirty years ago, it's not new.

I mean I’d def not risk my embryo after all that work. I’m lucky to get one in any case. But yeah, it’s on the nhs website and is clinic guidance. Lots of women online being surprised by it and having only just got their nails done and needing to declaw! Fragrances in general too. I always think it’s not only me using that room but every sad and hopeful woman after me. Solidarity in supporting their journeys too!

Absolutely, they are incredibly precious and we suffer so much to even get to that stage! I wonder why my clinic didn't give me that guidance. I rarely wear nail varnish so that wouldn't have been an issue anyway but was probably wearing perfume

That's fair enough but presenting false equivocals and blanket generalisations doesn't help your point, it makes you sound evangelical. The truth is the evidence is not strong enough and some people choose to avoid them which is fair enough, it's a personal choice but anything beyond that - particularly in the way you are speaking to people here, is scare mongering.

♥️ best of luck with your journey if you’re still on it. About to try start round 4… 🤞

I've been very lucky, I have two little boys now. One a gift via IVF and my youngest a complete surprise. Sending you lots of baby dust, I'll keep my fingers crossed for you xxx

You know what, I am a high end girl. But my DH just bought me Vaseline Cocoa Radiance and it is simply amazing. My skin has NEVER been smoother!!!

Hi
Said I'd get back to you , I've had it a week so far have used twice as was using a current one .
It smells quite nice , absorbs very easily ( was a worry ) and agree , makes skin very smooth .

I don’t agree.

If you ever use the yuka app you realise how full of poisons most of the moisturisers out there are. Endocrine disrupters make me most avoid one (ttc), so if that kind of thing is a concern, I’d recommend baby moisturiser from child’s farm. Certain chemicals are banned in baby products becuase it can damage their reproductive systems, yet are allowed in adult products. Been using It the last couple of years. I can’t tell if I’ve gone down a strange path with all this chemical stuff, or if we’ll be (in 40 years time) facing a “children of men” scenario, or looking on it like asbestos in talc.

Well, I've been using these things for years and I'm still alive. Plus I've reproduced, twice. So I'll take my chances.

Just because you’re alive doesn’t mean it’s not building up in your system causing toxicity.

Mylittledrum · 10/08/2025 16:33

I’m also alive @IDontHateRainbows . If you’d bothered to read my posts you’d have seen that my consideration is not that this has caused my miscarriages and infertility, but that if there’s anything I can do to cross me over the line into making healthy eggs from those that fail as embryos I’ll do it.

also, your reasoning is rather weak. It’s like someone saying “I smoked cigs all my life and didn’t get cancer therefore smoking doesn’t cause cancer.”

I certainly hope that living life the way we do isn’t having an impact on our health!

Any and all of the Vaseline variants. Advance repair in winter, aloe for after sun, gel oil for when I need a deep moisturising treat. Cheap as chips so I don’t think twice about using it liberally and often.

Clarins Moisture Rich Body Lotion with Shea Butter 400ml for Dry Skin - soooo good!
