I've been using NUXE body oil balm & love it but it is out of stock everywhere (not sure if they have discontinued it). Please can I have your body moisturiser recommendations?

Palmers Cocoa butter (oil and/or lotion)
Tree hut
Nivea
Bath & Body works

Those are my top 4. Deep moisturising, not greasy, smells incredible, soaks in fast and actually keeps my skin soft as opposed to others that have my skin feeling dry again within a couple of hours.

JacknDiane · 01/08/2025 22:49

I really like vaseline body lotion with aloe vera

nopiesleftinthisvehicle · 01/08/2025 22:58

Lidl had a gorgeous smelling 'after sun' body butter yesterday in the special offers Aisle.
Think it was a fiver for a smallish pot though.
I have a drawer full various nivea creams and lotions, so resisted the urge for once.
Nivea sosoft?🤔 in the white tub is a cheaper alternative.

Aveeno body oil is beautiful if you love Nuxe

If you ever use the yuka app you realise how full of poisons most of the moisturisers out there are. Endocrine disrupters make me most avoid one (ttc), so if that kind of thing is a concern, I’d recommend baby moisturiser from child’s farm. Certain chemicals are banned in baby products becuase it can damage their reproductive systems, yet are allowed in adult products. Been using It the last couple of years. I can’t tell if I’ve gone down a strange path with all this chemical stuff, or if we’ll be (in 40 years time) facing a “children of men” scenario, or looking on it like asbestos in talc.

I love Cerave SE tub. I find it keeps my skin really moisturised and has reduced small KP bumps I had

I've never heard of yuka app - is it a reliable source (i.e. backed with clinical research/evidence) or scare-mongering?

I use organic castor oil and it's been a game changer for my skin. I'm 52 so need a lot of moisturising

PeonyPatch · 02/08/2025 06:10

You know what, I am a high end girl. But my DH just bought me Vaseline Cocoa Radiance and it is simply amazing. My skin has NEVER been smoother!!!

Curious, do you wear things like perfume? I’m wondering how far you’ve gone with the endocrine disrupters thing. I only ask as I, too, am interested as ttc.

Organic coconut oil is bar far the best for my skin, and is totally natural and cruelty free. I use it all over and am often complimented on my skin!

Just ordered as it's cheap enough and also on offer on Amazon.

Peggysue14 · 02/08/2025 07:30

Another fan of Vaseline body lotion but my favourite is the Advanced Repair one.

Mylittledrum · 02/08/2025 07:47

@sofaRunner It’s reliable in that all it’s doing is a run down of a product’s ingredients, with red orange and green flags on ingredients labelling type of risk, details on the risk level and what it does, which countries regulate or ban it (and which don’t) and a list of scientific sources for each. I’m quite sure it’s not an altruistic app, but I have overhauled everything I was willing to. It does food too, but then flats things that are high in fat etc which is less helpful, as I use it for chemicals and additives.

@PeonyPatch I don’t actually think that I can’t conceive because of chemicals, but I am very cautious of reducing my chemical burden. Been ttc around 4 years inc two miscarriages and 3 failed ivf cycles, so in my case every teeny step I can take towards a healthy pregnancy I’m taking. That’s like… no makeup or perfume or anything (but I’ll never stop moisturising hah). When you go for embryo transfer you’re not allowed to wear any products, nail polish, smelly shampoo… just it being in the room can damage the embryo. That’s not an ipso facto but it feels significant.

Rina66 · 02/08/2025 08:10

I think the Vaseline Gluta Hya is excellent, I’ve got all three variants, I love the night time one especially. They are easily absorbed, smell really fresh (not fruity or sweet) and I think are about £8 each.

GameOfJones · 02/08/2025 08:21

My absolute favourite is Champneys Body Balm in the Calm scent. It smells incredible.

I'm also a fan of Sanctuary wet skin moisture miracle when I am feeling lazy as you just slap it on when you're soaking wet after a shower and then towel dry as normal.

I agree with this. I have started using Jurlique rose body lotion and absolutely love it. I got it on QVC. Jurlique is a great brand with no nasties . Coconut oil is also very good. I threw out most of my toiletries after checking them all out on Yuka.

Yay!! I honestly don’t think you’ll regret it. I just finished Moroccan oil’s body lotion and the Vaseline one is by far superior! Let us know how you get on!

ah, bless you. Thank you so much for sharing. You are incredibly brave. I wish you luck in your journey 🤍

@Lushvegetation no way! I love that QVC have Yuka approved products. I only ever put it on when I’m staying at a hotel, maybe I should take a closer look!

impressivelycunty · 02/08/2025 09:41

Vaseline Cocoa Radiance body gel/oil is the absolute best for dry skin - I feel like I’ve tried everything and always come back to it. Brilliant stuff.

Blimey, just looked this stuff up - so expensive!
