I won a prize in a raffle.

It was a bottle of Britney Spears Fantasy perfume. In a bright pink bottle.

I bloody love it, and it’s inexpensive.

Got me thinking what other cheap perfumes I might be missing out on.

Sarah Jessica Parker’s lovely always comes up in discussions about this.

MissBattleaxe · 26/07/2025 10:03

JLo Glow Everlasting is a gorgeous light floral. I found it on Perfume Click for about £15. Also Avon are doing some great stuff and they work with world class perfumers.

Skeldale · 26/07/2025 10:35

Marks and Spencer are doing a whole range of perfumes very cheaply which are good dupes for some very expensive fragrances.

Pigeon31 · 26/07/2025 10:39

Elizabeth Arden Green Tea is another nice cheapie

SJP lovely is indeed lovely. Also M&S dupes are excellent

I had a White Tea by Elizabeth Arden, lovely and fresh. A couple of the Lidl ones are ok for a quick burst of scent. The thing I find with the cheaper ones, isn’t that they don’t smell nice, but they just don’t last at all. Although I’m increasingly finding this with expensive eu du parfum too these days.

Friendlyuntilitwasnt · 26/07/2025 13:46

My mum uses the mands dupes.
My go to is just pink by next.

Cinaferna · 26/07/2025 13:59

Which M&S dupes are lovely? I have bought a few (not knowing they were dupes) and although they were okay-ish, none of them smelled great.

I'd love to find a good, cheap perfume. I used to wear Zara Apple Juice but it seems to have got so weak that it vanishes immediately. It used to last a couple of hours at least.

Me too. It's bad enough when £20 perfumes don't last. But when £100 perfumes evaporate within minutes, there's no point.

I wear Body Shop White Musk for everyday. They do body spray, lotion and shower gel so you can layer.
My friend swears by the Zara dupes.

Philandbill · 26/07/2025 14:08

Next dupes are very good. I like Eau Nude which is a dupe of one of the Channel perfumes. You can buy a very small bottle for about £6 to try them out. I love perfume but the fashion house ones are so expensive and the eau du toilettes rarely last.

isthismylifenow · 26/07/2025 14:13

EA white tea is my daily fragrance, and it's seems to last quite well on me. It's a close scent though, so doesn't project.

I also use green tea, but this one lasts two hours if I'm lucky. It does just have something about it though, it's an instant pick me up for me. Also, the EA sales person told me it's good to spray on sore muscles. I keep forgetting to try it, so if anyone else has, does it work?

a lady on a perfume counter in duty free once told me it’s something to do with an active ingredient getting rarer and therefore more expensive, I don’t know if that’s the reason, but it’s been a long time since anyone commented on a scent I’m wearing. I had some Daisy original once, a friend had bought it in New York for me and it wasn’t available here. It was amazing, people would come up to me and ask what it was. I bought the supposed equivalent here when I ran out but the staying power wasn’t nearly the same, even layered with body lotion.

Clitmandu · 26/07/2025 14:57

I remember Poison in the 80’s.

I could still smell it on my clothes after they had been through the wash.

Paradise (Light Blue dupe) and Summer Sun (Bronze Goddess dupe) by Next are fantastic value and two of my most rebought fragrances. There’s even a twofer set I’ve just noticed.

Be4thedawn · 26/07/2025 16:00

Tommy Girl also for a fab budget tea perfume, I'm wearing it constantly at the moment

Very disappointing! I don't bother to splash out any more on expensive perfumes. only exception is Prada paradoxe, which lasts beautifully.

sjp lovely is really nice. I have that and wear a fair bit. The SJP Stash perfume smells quite complex and layered. Smells very expensive and lasts well.

Elizabeth arden white tea is one of my favourites.

Next has lots of nice ones. Cashmere, Gold, Just pink.

Whoooo · 26/07/2025 18:12

Next, m&s and avon do very good dupes of high street department store perfumes.
Perfume parlour do dupes of the more £££ niche brands.
I have worn next eau nude (chanel dupe) and cashmere (estee lauder dupe)
Avon perfumes are created by the likes of Maurice rousel and Rodrigo flores-roux and are very good.
I wear avon attraction, little black dress and choco tuberose.

Whoooo · 26/07/2025 18:19

The Elizabeth garden green tea + perfumes are pleasant, too.
I have the GT + nectarine blossom 🌸

Whoooo · 26/07/2025 18:19

Elizabeth arden

Yes I like SJP lovely - my friend wears one from Lidl - forgot what it’s called but smells gorgeous for a cheapie - I couldn’t believe where it was from . I think some of Zara’s are nice too

Oooh I didn’t know that about Paradise but I love Summer Sun.

RaspberryCloud · 26/07/2025 18:39

I’m in love with the Jo Malone for Zara perfumes - gorgeous bottles, lovely interesting scents and some of them having amazing longevity, all for £29. They feel and look very premium.
