DH, DS and I are going out for lunch at an hour old coaching inn that has a fancy dining room tomorrow. Men have to wear jackets.

I’ve got this dress in mint that I bought for a wedding. Is it too fancy for lunch?

Gorgeous. I’d pair it with subtle accessories and a pair of sandals, rather than dress it up like you would for a wedding.

Oh good 😀. DH is a “more is better” type so I needed to check. It also has the advantage of leaving plenty of expansion room for food.

I always am shocked on here that people suggest a dress for a situation... think 16 year olds birthday and the dress looks like it was worn by a Vegas stripper in the 80's.
But this is perfect! Nice necklace, nice bag... heels or flats. Lovely.

Oh I've been there! We took DD for lunch when she was tiny and took turns taking her out when she cried!

We generally go for my birthday too @Ilovelowry . Last time DS was 11 and able to appreciate it, so it’s becoming a family tradition.
