Surely George will already be wearing a shirt and tie daily for his school uniform? And if he’s not wearing a blazer already, he soon will be. This is literally a uniform for him now.

TwerkingRoyalNotWorkingRoyal · 14/07/2025 09:08

It's just a rather unsophisticated way of trying to criticise his parents. Shock, horror, a child is taught to dress well, behave well and be confident in various settings!! OH NO, HOW AWFUL!!

TwerkingRoyalNotWorkingRoyal · 14/07/2025 09:10

(Never mind the fact that a lot of the things they get to do are exciting and interesting and something a lot of children couldn't ever get to do. There are lots of positives to balance out any potential downsides. Good for them and if they have to dress up a bit every so often I really don't think that will harm them)

Yes, I couldn't agree more. They have quite an outdoor life as I understand it. I'm sure the children are just fine dressing formally now and then!

Our family have been to two weddings recently. Children invited. The girls in pretty dresses the boys in shirts, ties, jackets and trousers.

When my son worked in the middle East he had a couple of linen suits made for him. Said that they were very comfortable to wear in the heat.

Maireas · 14/07/2025 09:30

When mine were young, they loved dressing up for weddings and events! I think it added to the excitement.

eggandonion · 14/07/2025 09:31

My dh has 4 linen jackets. Are they suitable for the royal box if he's invited? He also has a panama hat.
Or is a more formal jacket needed?
George does look like he is wearing a work outfit. I'm sure he has casual everyday stuff.

gingercat02 · 14/07/2025 09:32

My 17yo said he would wear anything they told him to, if he got free tickets to Wimbledon, the Cup final etc 😂
I liked Kate's dress, but would have preferred it shorter and without the shoulder embellishment. Charlotte looked lovely.
I'm a big fan of a wide brimmed straw hat too. I have one which in my head makes me look like a 70's film star it doesn't rather than a slightly overweight middle-aged woman.

Maireas · 14/07/2025 09:37

I like your son's attitude, @gingercat02 ! 😁

Well it has diamonds in it if that’s his birthstone. Apparently Kate’s is on a bespoke chunkier chain.

I don't know. I read this.

Can't link.

De-lurking after many threads to share a post by Derek Guy on twitter about why King Felipe’s tailoring is so special. I think that is Albert of Monaco in one of the pictures showing what not to pictures! I found the details in the post very interesting.

Maireas · 14/07/2025 09:55

We always comment favourably on Felipe's tailoring. I think he's had the right approach, being a very tall man, everything fits so well.

Agree. And, again, much like his mother and the current and late Queens, it’s a uniform for when they appear in public. It probably helps them to mentally compartmentalise when they are on or off duty. If George wore less formal attire, it might be more difficult for him to switch between his “job” and his home life. The same as taking off your uniform when getting back from school or taking off your work clothes on the evening. And the same applies to Charlotte or Louis and also their parents

Good point !

Of course he will. As will the vast majority of kids in this country. His secondary school dress is likely to be far more formal than anything he wears to the footie or tennis, and he will be like every other boy at that school, royal or not. Which is why the implication that he’s being dressed in something unreasonable is motivated by something other than concern for his welfare.

TwerkingRoyalNotWorkingRoyal · 14/07/2025 10:11

Have we already posted the lovely photo of Felipe meeting the children at Wimbledon?

Shame I can't read that link on his tailoring as I'm very interested.

I think this is Catherine's necklace from today (which I would absolutely wear, I love a statement piece).

It made me smile that the necklace is £3,375 (so not inexpensive by most people's standards), but you can upgrade the eco-packaging to "luxury gift wrap" for an additional £3. At that price I would want it hand-delivered by a butler Grin

BodenCardiganNot · 14/07/2025 10:50

Bet sales of Pandora bracelets will rocket now after Charlotte wearing one yesterday - with 3 charms!

EachandEveryone · 14/07/2025 10:53

That jeweller is based in my local town I didn’t realise it was doing so well.

In my opinion the Wales children are always beautifully and appropriately dressed, but I must say that I was surprised and disappointed to see Charlotte wearing nail varnish.

TwerkingRoyalNotWorkingRoyal · 14/07/2025 11:19

I'll see if I can find it again. I think it was on a Daily Mail article.

In the meantime here's one of them meeting with Sinner the Winner. They had tennis balls signed by him, including one for Louis, so he wouldn't miss out. 🙂

Kate asks Wimbledon winner to sign an extra tennis ball for Louis

Kate, 43, brought her two eldest children George, 11, and Charlotte, 10, to watch the final at SW19 from the Royal Box, alongside their father Prince William, 43.

I was surprised and very happy to see Charlotte doing what nearly every other girl her age enjoys doing.

TwerkingRoyalNotWorkingRoyal · 14/07/2025 11:20

Thanks @smilesy!

I have no issues with Charlotte being allowed to wear nail varnish.
