I want to wash my face in the shower and remove my mascara. Does this product exist?

I have a gentle foaming cleanser, but it doesn't remove mascara.
I have to use make-up remover first on my eyes, and then I get in the shower and wash my face.

I am very lazy and would prefer to just wash my face once and get everything off. Can I?

Baby oil!

valentinoandme · 08/07/2025 07:19

If you use a tubing mascara, it just comes off with warm water.

MaryBeardsShoes · 08/07/2025 07:19

If you’re that lazy why not just skip putting the mascara on in the first place?!

borderlaise · 08/07/2025 07:20

I use Cerave foaming cleanser and it gets mascara off

Liz Earle cleanse and polish gets make up off in the shower with a cloth

EssentialDecluttering · 08/07/2025 07:24

I use The Body Shop camomile cleansing balm and a flannel in the shower.

Same and use cerave hydrating cleanser

Heroinemame Mascara remover (YesStyle) You apply it like mascara, let it do it’s thing for a minute, use your regular cleanser and Bob’s your uncle.

bloodredfeaturewall · 08/07/2025 07:33

take a flannel with you and yoyr body lotion (or cooking oil or face moisturiser) and gently wipe it of.

Watching with interest. I'm the same as you Op, but looking for better options due to a lack of time. Currently using garnier micellar water to remove make up and then sukin cleanser in the shower

Portabella · 08/07/2025 07:38

I use the clinique lash power mascara that can be removed with warm water. Tried loads if others over the years but always go back to this

That's so helpful, I'm surprised OP hasn't thought of that fabulous idea.

🙄

cerave hydrating cleanser, brilliant stuff!

Zerox · 08/07/2025 07:48

You need a beauty balm to glide over the skin. It will melt the mascara and you can wipe it off with a facecloth. Are you showering in the evening? Because it’s not a good idea to sleep with your mascara on as it will dry out your lashes.

Ironfloor269 · 08/07/2025 07:49

Yup, it’s called soap.

You are welcome 😊

honeylulu · 08/07/2025 07:50

Do you use a face flannel? I know flannels are abhorred on mumsnet but I love mine (used only for face!) I do find make up, but particularly mascara, needs that sort of friction to come off properly and an added benefit is your skin gets a mild exfoliation in the process.

Most foaming face washes + flannel will do the job (not the Clearasil one, made the mistake of getting that in my eyes once, ow) though mainly I use a Dove "soap" bar. It's not real soap and isn't drying, doesnt sting my eyes even though i rub it directly on my lashes.

Lostsadandconfused · 08/07/2025 07:54

I do Korean 2 step cleansing as I find gentle cleansers don’t adequately remove makeup and sunscreen. I use the oil cleanser on my face while I’m waiting for the water to heat up, then emulsify when I’m in the shower, taking particular care to get the mascara off. Rinse, then my last step after hair wash etc, is the gentle cream cleanser.

ForTheLoveOfGrace · 08/07/2025 07:55

Tropic Smoothing Cleanser - brilliant stuff. Safe to use everywhere on the face and is amazing at removing makeup including mascara. Organic and comes with a free bambo face cloth.

isitmeamithedrama · 08/07/2025 07:56

what mascara are you using?
I wash my face in the shower to remove my make up (it’s hardly lazy…lazy would be nit taking it off so the other poster is talking shit)
mine comes off with pretty much any of my multiple foaming cleansers.
im currently using a cerave one I just gently rub over my lashes and it’s gone

ThejoyofNC · 08/07/2025 07:57

You need a balm cleanser. Clinique take the day off is excellent but ££, lots of brands do similar though.

ModerateOrGoodOccasionallyPoor · 08/07/2025 08:00

Ive tried various balm cleansers and foaming cleansers that all claim to do this, but they either leave my eyes greasy and my vision blurry or they are a bit stingy and harsh on the eyes.

I would just continue to give a quick wipeover with a good eye make up remover first, before you then do an overall cleanse of your face, without needing to scrub at, or rub the product into your eyes. Also, unless you are jumping in the shower at night, why are you taking your mascara off in the morning?!

DominoRules · 08/07/2025 08:05

I use Lancôme Mousse Eclat and takes off all my make up easily

MooreMooreMoore · 08/07/2025 08:06

soap!

isthesolution · 08/07/2025 08:06

I just use simple face wash. My mascara (not waterproof) just washes off in the shower.

geoger · 08/07/2025 08:07

I also take make up off in the shower. I use Elemis cleansing balm or Simple face wash
