I want to wash my face in the shower and remove my mascara. Does this product exist?

I have a gentle foaming cleanser, but it doesn't remove mascara.
I have to use make-up remover first on my eyes, and then I get in the shower and wash my face.

I am very lazy and would prefer to just wash my face once and get everything off. Can I?

Yup Cerave pump cleanser gets everything off

Ontheedgeofit · 08/07/2025 08:11

Here to second (or third or fourth) buying a tubing mascara. Life changing for me both in terms of wearing without smudging and being able to remove with warm water only.

Thepersianrice · 08/07/2025 08:13

Lancôme foaming cleansers used to be amazing for this but I haven’t used for years. Now I use cerave, which is cheaper and works perfectly , but isn’t so foamy.

Soap

Apothecary266 · 08/07/2025 08:16

One of those magic flannels. They take all your makeup off with just warm water! I can't use any make up removal products on my face due to rare skin condition and these flannels remove every bit!

Geneticsbunny · 08/07/2025 08:23

Nivea facial cleanser and a flannel. It's pretty cheap and will remove all makeup. Just leave a bottle in the shower with your shower gel.

Ricoletti · 08/07/2025 08:28

I’m here to second the magic flannels. I’ve got a few different ones. My fave is one called something like ‘the makeup eraser” …

they are microfibre and just need warm water to get makeup off, with very gentle rubbing. I have sensitive skin and haven’t used face wash to take mascara off since I got this.
I still use a teeny bit of face wash to make sure my skin is clean , but keep it away from my eyes….

ThirdStorm · 08/07/2025 08:36

I use Simple Refreshing Facial Wash and it removes my makeup including mascara. It doesn't sting my eyes either.

If you’re that lazy why not just skip putting the mascara on in the first place?!

How on earth is that lazy. Cleansing balms do the trick.

honeypancake · 08/07/2025 08:39

Some Clinique mascaras are removed with warm water. While if you just wash your face you will still need a quick miscellar water disc application afterwards but in a shower and especially when also washing hair etc all the mascara easily comes off.

Soontobe60 · 08/07/2025 08:45

I use any old hot cloth cleansing cream and a muslin face cloth. Rub the cream all over my face / eyes before getting in the shower, shampoo and condition my hair then use cloth to remove all traces of make up. (I also use a rough flannel all over my body with a Cerave body wash)
Im currently using an Aldi cream cleanser, which is just as good as the Liz Earle one I always used to use, but is more than 1/4 the price.

Tubing mascara is the way to go. I have sensitive eyes and skin, and my life changed after I discovered them. I use Hourglass mascara. It comes off easily with just water a gentle rub!

cleverhatdisguise · 08/07/2025 08:53

I don't know what tube mascara is and I will investigate. I just wear some cheapy Maybelline waterproof whatever is on offer. Pink tube currently.

A facecloth is a good idea! The friction would probably work. I've tried Googling magic flannels and I am only getting those Christmas stocking novelty facecloths that expand in water 😅I assume that's not what you mean!

Thank you for product suggestions. Will google them all.

(And for those worrying - this is an evening shower!! Am not sleeping in makeup!)

Another vote for Liz Earle Cleanse and Polish with the Muslin cloths! Been using it for years.

abnerbrownsdressinggown · 08/07/2025 08:55

I use tubing mascara and just wash my face with whatever face wash I am using, either in the shower or in the sink, and then kind of gently pinch the mascara off when I rinse my face.

I've now only got a tiny sample sized bottle of eye make up remover to use when I blink and mess my mascara up when putting it on and don't want to re-do my whole face!

Discobooloo · 08/07/2025 09:10

I second Clinique lash power!

Also use origins ginzing scrub in the shower.

Starlight1984 · 08/07/2025 09:13

Elemis or Clinique cleansing balms

Diplidocus4 · 08/07/2025 09:19

I use one of the pink cloths ? Dampen it and it will remove make up etc , wash it in the machine every week .

ModerateOrGoodOccasionallyPoor · 08/07/2025 09:21

Elemis cleansing balm is lovely, I've been using it daily for years, but it's not ideal for rubbing directly over your eyes to remove mascara. It's hard to remove it thoroughly and you end up with a smeary film on your eyeballs. Hence by comments above.

Yabu to say that removing make up in the shower is lazy

...and also for being insulting

MissPeachyKeen · 08/07/2025 09:25

@cleverhatdisguise I prefer bamboo pads to flannels for removing mascara, you don't need a whole flannel to do so.

Generally use baby oil or one of the lotions mentioned above to remove my of my make up with warm water and a flannel, or I massage with my fingers in my shower. Massaging with fingers over closed eyes will remove most mascara and any residue I take off with a bamboo pad & gentle cleanser afterwards

So incredibly rude.

You obviously didn’t post to help the OP. What do you get out of hopping onto threads just to call people names?

MissPeachyKeen · 08/07/2025 09:26

Indeed. Mary Beard would never be so rude, but maybe the pp is insulting her too

Ontheedgeofit · 08/07/2025 09:26

All of those recommending tubing mascara… what is your favorite brand? Do any of the high street brands do a tubing mascara?
