Reformation Dress

Collective minds please help! DD is getting married next year and I’ve fallen in love with this dress from Reformation. It’s beautiful but very expensive.
I live in South Wales so I either order it or go to London to try it on (difficult but not impossible). I’ve read online that their dresses aren’t very good quality nor is their customer service good. Eeek! Also sizing?
Has anyone seen this dress in person? I’d love to know if it’s as beautiful as it looks.

I have a reformation dress (only one, so not an expert!), but have also been in their store and tried others on. Re quality - generally the dresses I have seen are beautiful but quite thin material - not an issue if you are slim, but could be otherwise I think. For sizing, I have my normal size. PS that does look beautiful!

MrsK · 22/06/2025 07:57

I was in their store in December, my daughter (25) was looking at buying a dress. I wasn’t particularly impressed by the quality or fit. She is an XS, the dresses seemed to pull & didn’t fit well over the hips. This was still the case going up a size. The seam was visible through the fabric, you could see it pulling & going sort of zig saggy over the hips.

WeirdyBeardyMarrowBabyLady · 22/06/2025 07:59

I know nothing of the brand but could you source material and have it made locally?

MrsK · 22/06/2025 08:02

Your dress looks lovely btw. Having looked at your link it’s different material to the ones my daughter tried in December. For want of a better description they were sort of mesh fabric with satin underneath

Good Luck, hope it fit’s well for you 🥂

TheChosenTwo · 22/06/2025 08:35

Only one way to find out! Order it and see how you like it. It’s a lovely looking dress,

Rocknrollstar · 22/06/2025 08:37

I think you should ask DD what she thinks. Personally it is too pale.

popcornpower2025 · 22/06/2025 08:39

I've got my eye on a reformation dress for some weddings this summer too so watching this thread.

Mmmkaay · 22/06/2025 08:41

It's a lovely dress but I think for that money you could have something very similar made?

haveyouopenedyourbowelstoday · 22/06/2025 10:01

Thank you all! DD loves it. I think I might order it.

My daughter ordered it as a possible bridesmaid dress for her sisters wedding.
We sent it back as it just did not suit her body type . Tall slim pear shape. neck also sat strangely. Back was lovely . I think the only way is to try but be prepared for either it being great or sending it back.

Christwosheds · 22/06/2025 10:34

It’s a beautiful dress. I don’t understand the “too pale “ comment above as pastel colours are very common for weddings and Mob. My Mum wore pale lilac and my Mil wore a sort of creamy gold to mine.
I have one reformation dress, in silk velvet. Dd has three, one silk one and two viscose. The silk is quite thin but it’s a lovely dress. Personally I find the sizing fairly small, but that may be the one I have. If you are an larger cup then a size up would be my advice as that is where their dresses are least generous . ( 10 or small 12 and I got the large as the medium didn’t cover my bust). They sometimes have Xs, S, M etc sizing and sometimes US sizing, 0, 2, 4 etc.
I think the shaping is what they do best, the dresses are very feminine and sexy in a relaxed way.

CluelessAboutBiology · 22/06/2025 11:26

I think it’s beautiful, but you would need to be tall and willowy like the model (you might well be). No idea about quality as I’ve never heard of the brand.

TheGlamour · 22/06/2025 11:37

Why the hell would the OP need to be tall and willowy?

Such an extraordinary assertion from someone who has never heard of, so has no knowledge whatsoever of the brand!

To my knowledge Reformation offers both extended (plus) sizes and petite options. So they clearly don’t assume they are only selling to one type of body. I imagine most mainstream brands prefer to sell to as wide a range of people as possible!

@haveyouopenedyourbowelstoday I have long admired Reformation’s designs, without having any particular inclination to wear them. While I think the event justifies a trip to London, my rare forays into their shops were a little disappointing - and you may like the dress better if you see it first at home. I’d be open minded and prepared to try on more than one size. If the body proportions are ok it shouldn’t be a problem to have the hem shortened if necessary.

Beyondburnout · 22/06/2025 12:50

It's beautiful. You can always take it back if you need to. Maybe you can get a discount code for 10 or 20% somewhere.

bluejelly · 22/06/2025 13:02

My dd tried it on last year and it looked stunning. I love that it’s silk too.

What a weird fabric combo! Sounds like a recipe for disaster 😊

SlimeSuspect · 22/06/2025 14:28

I’ve not bought anything from Reformation for a couple of years, but all the dresses I ordered were really small. The mini dresses were also very short in length. I’m 5 foot 3, and would have been scared to bend over. The quality was OK but really didn’t reflect the price, so I sent them all back.

Giddykiddy · 22/06/2025 14:53

It's gorgeous - wish i was slim enough to wear it

Grinchybinchy · 22/06/2025 15:10

I have 5 Reformation dresses in different styles but all viscose. Yes the fabric is quite thin and they’re all dry clean but I love them! Sizing I would say true to size usually but occasionally comes up a little small. The dress you posted is stunning and I think perfect for a wedding 😊

Verite1 · 22/06/2025 15:48

That is a gorgeous dress. My experience of Reformation is that their designs are lovely but the material is usually very thin and they come up small. I do think they are overpriced somewhat but then i suppose you are paying for the name (they were v v popular when they first launched) and the admittedly lovely designs.

SheridansPortSalut · 22/06/2025 18:10

Generally, the quality in Reformation is not what you'd expect for the price.

Ecstaticmotion · 22/06/2025 19:15

I have this exact dress in one of the other colours and wore it to a wedding last year. It looked amazing. Also the drawstrings on the back are handy for sizing. It’s one layer of fabric, unlined, so it is not forgiving if you’re worried about that sort of thing. I think it’s expensive for what it is, but also unlike anything else and got a lot of compliments. I’ve also read negative stuff about the returns process and I worry every time I order online from them; so far, no problems with returns. Size wise, I went for my usual size in this dress, didn’t size up or down.

I was about to suggest this too! It's lovely, although I would say the sizing is a little less than generous in my opinion, so I would recommend sizing up if you do order it.
