Makeup setting spray?

TillyandFlorence · 17/06/2025 21:00

I have not-great skin (rosacea, scarring) and use Estee Lauder Double Wear, but get to the end of the day with much less makeup on my face than I started with. I do use a primer.

Can anyone recommend a setting spray suitable for every-day use, that actually works? I have tried the benefit one but I didn't really see any improvement.

Or any other ways to keep makeup looking good all day!

Thanks!

Urban decay all nighter. Best one I’ve tried by far.

AmelieSummer25 · 17/06/2025 21:04

Just don't use it on the train 😂😂

yousillygoose · 17/06/2025 22:19

Second urban decay. I have very oily skin and this keeps my makeup in place all day.

heroinechic · 17/06/2025 23:02

Third vote for UD all nighter! Also Mac fix + if they still make it

stayathomer · 17/06/2025 23:04

Roseacea and sensitive skin here and mac spray fx is a holy grail product for me (the clear bottle with no colour or images on it)

Pyjamatimenow · 17/06/2025 23:07

I used to always use urban decay but recently tried the L’Oréal infallible one and it is amazing. Far superior. I’m annoyed because I’ve got two full urban decay ones sitting in my drawer

SecondSeatontheleft · 18/06/2025 08:19

UD All Nighter but trying to economise I am using an Elf one ( greenish liquid). I highly recommend the UD eye primer as a side note.

I agree with this. Plus it’s loads cheaper as well.

Elf Power Power Grip dewy setting spray! Much better than the UD one for me personally.

boobot1 · 18/06/2025 08:42

I tried all the ones mentioned. None worked for me. Nothing stays. I've never found a lipstick that stays and I've tried dozens that claimed to. I'm always amazed by people whos makeup looks the same at the end of the night as it does at the begining.

peidhDassffeks · 18/06/2025 08:45

Urban decay gets my vote too

TheOGCCL · 18/06/2025 08:46

Setting sprays and eye primers don’t work for me either, everything ends up melted off. I think if I really piled on the makeup it would last longer but I only ever want a light touch.

CubanTody · 18/06/2025 08:54

Nothing works for me either. I'm currently using the MAC one and I'n already shiny with smeared eyeshadow by the time I get to work, 15 minutes after applying it.

Sorry @Laiste there's another thread running where the OP is whinging about women putting make up on, on the train, claiming to have been sprayed with 'setting spray'

TrtseHkpr · 18/06/2025 10:11

ELF coconut dewy setting spray. Excellent and not very spendy, I use it every day

Mac fix+ spray isn’t a setting spray. It’s a spray that melts all the powder together or can be used to refreshen the make up during the day.

Not sure why they call it a fixing spray when it isn’t.

TheFoz · 18/06/2025 11:38

Another Urban Decay All Nighter user.

Maybe you need to reconsider your skincare or makeup OP

It says on the bottle it's a setting spray so are you sure?

paulliee · 18/06/2025 12:36

Absolutely sure. I’m a make up artist and it’s common knowledge that it’s not a fixing spray. It adds moisture back to the skin 🙈 nothing setting about it! The urban decay setting spray is amazing as is the kryolan fixing spray.

paulliee · 18/06/2025 12:38

Sorry I mean common knowledge with make up artists - that sounded rude as it’s non common knowledge to non make up artists!

EddieMunson · 18/06/2025 12:39

The One/Size setting spray - it’s amazing (and apparently it’s what Beyoncé uses on tour)

Can you give an example of which is which, I'm always getting these mixed up. Does setting spray melt everything together, and fixing spray sets it all in place? I need one of the blender sprays if that makes sense 😂 I used the loreal 3 second one yesterday though and make-up didn't budge in the heat, really impressed!

It confuses everyone because brands label them all incorrectly sometimes lol

the Mac fix plus setting spray melts the make up/ provides hydration, does not provide any ‘setting’ at all. That’s why most people find the make up is oily shiny after a few hours. Especially us oily women!

I would always look for a fixing spray. They lock the make up in place. If you need anymore information I’m happy to help
