Suncream causing spots on face

I seem to have to choose between sunburn or spots!
Can anyone recommend a particular suncream which is less likely to make me spotty?

Face Cream SPF40 | Clinique
Clinique, they do have SPF 50 too which i'm sure is just as good. I have this one and love it, doesn't feel greasy or sticky like others

Obvs92 · 17/06/2025 13:36

Heliocare oil-free is non-comedogenic and is only one I can use without getting spotty

TheGirlWhoLived · 17/06/2025 13:38

I’ve got sensitive skin and have found the garnier ultra sensitive or the tinted one both are fine on me! Are you using a specific face suncream or just the normal body one?

TheNinjaWife · 17/06/2025 13:41

Hawaiian tropic do a brush on loose powder. Factor 30, however it doesn’t get very good reviews due to people opening it incorrectly and spilling the powder everywhere.

Spanielstails · 17/06/2025 13:52

What are you using at the moment?
La Roche posay is good along with Hélio care oil free.

This sounds great for partings I’m going to take a look!

Frezyderm is the ONLY brand I can use on my face. Goes on feeling dry, no greasy touch, you don’t sweat underneath it.

Name sounds a bit dodgy I know, but would highly recommend.

Le Roche Posay anthelios - the super fluid one or whatever its called. I suffer from fungal acne so have to be really careful of what creams I put on my face. Never had a bad reaction with this. Its also spf 50.

Weirdly until very recently I’d used the Garnier SPF50 Face one for years and loved it - cheap, effective, nourishing enough that I could skip moisturiser and my make up loooed good on top.

Then on holiday last year I got awful prickly heat on my face after a few days. So I changed face SPF and it seemed to calm after a few days of TLC. Then like a twat because I thought the spf was just a coincidence I started using it again. Result? Fucking awful prickly heat again.

No idea if they’d slightly change ingredients or formula or if it’s peri hormones but sadly it was the bin for it.

Splashed out on Ultra Violette SPF 50+ Supreme Screen recently and it’s like a protective hug for my face. Pricey but goes on so nicely and is so moisturising and I dont look quite as troll like after a few days wear

A related UltraViolette SPF 50 was recently found to only provide SPF4.

Biore Watery essence. Amazing stuff.

This one also works for me.

Is there one specifically for the face?

OnlyMabelInTheBuilding · 17/06/2025 14:30

@RowsOfFlowers yes, the little 50ml size

eyespartyparty · 17/06/2025 14:32

I’d been using Neutrogena Clear Face previously - it did used to be good but now I’m finding it hard to get hold of and it makes my sebaceous filaments on my nose 100x worse!

I don't use the one above but this one

Blonzer · 17/06/2025 17:25

Ultrasun, my face doesn't like loads of applications of anything. I've been using it for years and never burned.

Shuttheblinds · 17/06/2025 17:45

changenameagain555 · 17/06/2025 16:59

Edited

I can vouch for this, its the best one I’ve used.

lovemycbf · 17/06/2025 17:53

I use this as I’m very fair and sensitive
it’s for acne prone skin and is a gel cream

The Korean brand Skin 1004. Madagascar Centella Hyalu-Cica Water-Fit Sun Serum SPF50+ PA+50ml
A serum-like chemical sunscreen with effective UVA/UVB protection. It has a serum-like texture but is super lightweight and hydrating. Leaves no white cast, and provides a non-greasy and dewy finish.

Peta Vegan & Cruelty Free
EWG Green Grade
Artificial Fragrance Free

It's much better than La Roche Posay.
