I'm just imagining what it was like to wear a bearskin, full woollen uniform, heavy boots and march around! 🥵

DH's uniform isn't too bad (i.e. no bearskin) but he hates having to be in the full ceremonial gear on a hot day. He hasn't had a scorching day for a major event yet. Remembrance and the Lord Mayors show being in November helps and the wet coronation kept the temperature down.

Hello all, checking in. I liked Kate’s outfit today, yes a bit 80s but the colour swung it for me, and Charlotte looked really lovely in the matching dress.

I am so excited for the summer, I have tickets for ladies’ semifinals day at Wimbledon this year, maybe Kate will be there! (Probably not 😂)

How does he manage? Does he struggle?

Enjoy Wimbledon, it's a great day out. The Strawberries 🍓 and cream are actually really well priced and a decent portion so do make sure you grab some. Get there early if you can and have a potter about the outside courts to watch some future talents/spot some old faces before the show courts open.

He is very much a shorts and t-shirt guy in civvy life so pushes to be in dressed down gear as much as he can (all of them on the team he is with at the moment 'accidently' forgot something from their dress uniform when they had a meet some VIPs a few weeks ago so the all vetoed dress uniform in favour of camo). The worst was when he got back from a tour in Afghanistan in December and was too well acclimatized to hot weather so kept cranking the heating up.

The fear of a hot day in dress uniform is balancing the need to stay hydrated with the need to pee!

Yes, that's a tricky balance!

I took my not very mobile Mum last year so we had to keep the day fairly short (the big plus of taking her was disabled parking opposite the entrance gates). I'm hoping I get tickets in the draw again soon so I can go with someone with a bit more stamina and make a full day of it.

Just seen photos of Catherine walking/in movement at Trooping the Colour and it would definitely have been a dress or skirt under the coat as I'm sure she absolutely would not have given the whole world a whole lot more than a glimpse of her slip. So I guess although it may be termed a coat dress on the brand's site, she wore it as a coat today. It's a striking colour on her (even though I'm not that keen) and beautiful for summer.

The Prince and Princess of Wales have just posted a really lovely family photo from today on their Instagram.

I really hope that Charlotte’s dress was what she wanted most in all the world to wear….

Struggling to think that is the dress Charlotte took out of her wardrobe last night preparation for the early start this morning 😲.

She gave off vibes of being very uncomfortable in it all morning.

It was a very 6 year old outfit .

The tie Peter pan neck line and the silly white band around the middle.

Maybe it was the only dress that matched her mum's in colour ?

I hope little Louis has had a good nights sleep ..they must have woken him up very early yesterday as he did have some dark shadows under his eyes little love 😘

Why would he not have a good night's sleep? Plus it was all over by lunchtime. I'm sure they were all able to put on relaxing togs and have a runabout in the fresh air.

Well if "what she wanted most in the world to wear" was unsuitable for the Trooping, then I'm guessing "no"! It's only one morning a year. She looked perfectly happy. In fact she was absolutely beaming most of the time.

I don't think she looked uncomfortable.

The Waleses seem to have made the decision to put the children is old fashioned formal styles when they are at official events. What Charlotte is wearing is appropriate and let's face it i doubt any of the adults wear what they had on in their every day lives either. They are dressed formally at an official event.

It also makes the pictures more timeless and I wonder if, when they were younger, it was also a way for them to distinguish between being on and off duty. It also means that when they are off duty they are less recognisable.

I thought the dress looked cool and comfortable and without any full skirt that could blow up in wind.
