Conch piercing

So after the daith piercing mistake and subsequent rook piercing instead, I decided to have a midlife crisis and get one more - A conch!

I love it! Have read mixed reports about healing so fingers crossed I’ll be lucky and it won’t cause too much bother 🤞😁

No idea what daith, rook and conch is.
I've one piercing in the lobes- usual place.

It all looks incredibly painful to me and a lot of earrings needed.

evilharpy · 22/05/2025 15:16

Love it! Couldn't have one myself as it wouldn't agree with my earbuds but I love the look of a conch. Will you keep a stud when it's healed or swap to a hoop?

You absolute blooduy misery. Get the eff off the thread if it's not for you?.

Looks great op. Best thing I've done for piercings is to leave them alone. Don't clean other than let soapy water run over it in the shower

Ohh I love it! I'm planning to get a conch this weekend so wish me luck 😄which would you say hurt more, rook or conch?

Thank you!

Probably will keep a stud but may change it for white gold or silver rather than the titanium. I think titanium always looks a bit dull

Thank you! The actual piercing wasn’t too bad at all. The fitting of the jewellery was more painful 🥴
I think it was probably on a par with the rook and done very quickly
Good luck with yours 😃

My conch healed perfectly well in a short space of time and gave me no bothers!!! My anti tragus however is going to be the death of me. Love it OP

ChandrilanDiscoDroid · 22/05/2025 16:55

I've got them too! My conches are my newest.

I plan to wear a ring once healed but I actually really like the stud.

Ive got neilmed stuff to use but only for a couple of days. I will let the warm water in the shower wash over it 👍

I do find I'm snagging my conches a bit, because the bar projects out at the back, but not nearly as much as my helices. So far, harder to heal than the daith, easier than the helix. I'm a dreadful fiddler but doing my best to Leave It The Hell Alone.

Coconutter24 · 22/05/2025 17:00

I don’t no why I read conch and expected to see a nose piercing 🙈😂😂
I think I got mixed up with a conk 🤦‍♀️

Namechange48432 · 22/05/2025 17:53

My conch was an absolute dream to heal. No troubles at all and since it's tucked away I found that I could sleep on that side really early on without using a piercing pillow. I'm going the other way round to you and planning a rook next week. How did you find your rook for healing?

MulberryPeony · 22/05/2025 18:14

Mine healed fairly well. It did get a bump so I downsized the jewellery and it was fine again. I tried a hoop after about 9 months but it wasn’t comfortable so I left it a few more months and it was okay. I have tiny ears and it doesn’t get hit with an earbud at all.

Emotionalsupporthamster · 22/05/2025 18:20

Looks great! I really want my conch done but I wear loop earplugs to sleep and I’m not sure whether it’d be possible to wear them while it was healing.

ThatRoseBear · 22/05/2025 20:47

I have both rook and conch piercings. The conch took longer to heal. I have a hoop in now with edge detail which looks lovely but catches on my pillows!

I got my conch done years ago and it healed great! Much quicker than my second lobe piercing. I’m getting the helix and 3rd lobe piercing next week.

Can someone talk to me about the pain of these when having them done?! I’d love to but piercing pain worries me which is insane considering I have a sleeve tattoo, my entire stomach tattoed alongside a load of other smaller ones!

The conch really isn’t painful - it wasn’t for me anyway. It’s a quick pinch and aches afterwards but heals quickly. It seems to be one, that when you look online, it’s reported to be painful but I didn’t find it to be. If you can sit through a sleeve you’ll be grand!

Where as I found conch painful but daith pretty pain free.

NotEnoughRoom · 22/05/2025 21:47

My conch was one of my least painful - daith was definitely the worst for me.

Healing-wise, if they pierced it with a barbell (ie a ball on the back as well as the front) then you could ask them to swap it for a flat back if the initial swelling has gone down? Even my stubborn helix healed much better with a flat back in, but might just be me!

also recommend the pillow with a hole for sleeping, I still use mine a year later cos I love it so much!! Even take it with me when I’m away.

I also use loop earplugs without any issue - although I don’t sleep with mine in, and everyone’s ear shape is quite unique so no guarantees it would be the same for everyone. I do sometimes struggle with noise cancelling headphones as they sit on top of my piercings and are usually a bit tighter than the old-school over-ear headphones.

Conch is reputed to be one of the most painful. I didn't find it that bad or worse than any cartilage piercing. It's a sharp pinch and then another when my piercer threaded the jewellery. If you can sit calmly for a sleeve you'll be grand. I didn't hear any crunch either, which people sometimes complain of. I do have quite a high pain tolerance though. I did find it a bit sharper than daith, but daith is quite a full-on positioning.
