Can’t get away with h and m anymore
the materials are too thin and don’t fit well

Sezane. Cos. Me+Em. The late lamented Kin at John Lewis. A smattering of M&S when it's worth it. I get a lot of it on Vinted.

A bit of M&S, a bit of Next, Primark for absolute basics, some Sugarhill Boutique and recently some White Stuff and some FatFace. I try to buy less in volume but buy better quality these days, where I can.

Same places I’ve always shopped..

olivelime · 20/05/2025 10:37

It's a tricky spot isn't it?!

I've started using pinterest to collect together outfits I like and then searching for particular items within those images that I like. I don't mind where items come from - sometimes I end up finding them in New Look or H&M, sometimes pricier places. But I don't think I'd walk into New Look/H&M to just browse and get inspiration anymore.

General go to online shops are Hush and Baukjen, both quite safe. Boden for it's petite range. I recently bought some nice floaty blouses from Wrap London on sale.

Sometimes browse in Next, White Stuff, Fat Face etc... because they're in my local town/close to work.

Local boutiques - have found that I like clothes from Soaked, Bonte and the Denim Studio from those.

Urban Outfitters for t-shirts and accessories.

Whistles and Jigsaw for inspiration.

CatherineCawoodsbestie · 20/05/2025 23:17

I buy a lot on vinted, partly because it’s cheaper, but also because so many brands made better quality clothes 10-20 years ago. So I buy a lot of vintage M and S/ St Michael, Next (who are crap now), Whistles, Jigsaw, Top Shop, Boden.
I also buy some Me and Em, Maje, Gerard Darel, Hush, Arket, Cos, French Connection, etc - brands I couldn’t afford new.

High street new - M and S, Zara, TU, White stuff and occasional Primark/Peacocks, H and M. I am very careful, it is the sea of polyester and viscose and everything elasticated I don’t like. I am buying a lot of Per Una old maxis and knee length skirts on vinted - lovely cottons, velvets etc with zips / pleats / darts and so on. And lined too.

Fortunately, I have no idea about what is in fashion, and nor do I care!

DancingNotDrowning · 20/05/2025 23:38

Mainly Maje, Reiss, Zadig, MaxMara, M&S and Zara

Although just checked last 10 things I bought:

Blouse - Frame
Jacket - Suncoo
Jacket - H&M
T-shirt - H&M
belt - Victoria Beckham
blouse - &other stories
trainers - adidas
Dress - Hayley Menzies
jeans - M&S
sandals - Gucci

HundredMilesAnHour · 20/05/2025 23:58

I have expensive tastes so used to buy a lot from sample sales / outlets etc (luckily I live in part of London where there are a lot) but now with Vinted, I can buy my lusted after expensive brands from there instead as well as.

I wear a lot of Issey Miyake Pleats Please (thereby breaking my rule about polyester 🙄) dresses and trousers, plus lots of Rew trousers and lots of Yacco Maricard shirts / dresses / jackets. &Daughter jumpers. Hiut and Blackhorse Lane Ateliers denim. And, er strangely Karrimor socks (they do the BEST socks for the gym).

Shoes are generally Tracey Neuls or vintage Prada. Trainers are No Bull or Walsh.

I don’t tend to shop on the high street but on the rare occasion I do, it’s Cos, Arket and Other Stories. Sweatshirts are mainly Raeburn, T-shirts mainly James Perse. Bras from Marie-Jo.

I’ve been buying good quality pieces in sales for years and years so I have a pretty extensive huge stash so don’t need to buy much these days and can just cherry pick things I like as they come up but rarely need a specific item.

DrCoconut · 21/05/2025 00:10

Mostly Primark as it's affordable. I have bought a couple of bits on vinted but it's a bit hit and miss with sizing.
