Massive sunglasses

I'm not a big sunglasses wearer but I'm going abroad for the first time in 8 years and I'd like to treat myself to some nice ones. I like the oversized ones, the bigger the better, as I think these suit me best. Can anyone recommend a good brand with a few shapes to try. Budget around £200. Thanks.

It doesn't have to be but I know some of the deisgner ones can be quite expensive. I just want to treat myself and I intend to look after them.

Er yes. This is not all that crazy

blubbyblub · 14/05/2025 17:22

OP do you want oversized aviators or plastic frames or metal? Black or tortoiseshell or coloured? Do you have some pictures you could add of the sort of thing you like me

Delphigirl · 14/05/2025 17:23

I like Persol Tom ford Gucci and Chanel. Need to look out deals/sales to get down to £200 but it’s possible.

blubbyblub · 14/05/2025 17:24

Probably best to look at a site like sunglass hut to get an idea

KnickerlessParsons · 14/05/2025 17:26

I’ve just bought some prescription varifocal sunglasses for £140, so £200
does seem like a lot of money, even if they are designer.

evilharpy · 14/05/2025 17:29

I also love a pair of oversized sunglasses and keep going back to my Ray Ban Jackie Ohs. I have pairs that are bigger but these are just lovely.

chesschessandmorechess · 14/05/2025 17:31

I bought some oversized Christian Dior sunglasses with my prescription lenses in 2009. I use them daily when it's bright, they've travelled the world with me and they still look brand new. I'm just pleased the oversized look is still on trend as they were a bit out there when I bought them.

If you don’t need prescription lenses and you have a tk maxx near you I’d go there and try a load on

Ahh I can see why then. I did go into specsavers but the selection was limited and not that oversized. I do wear glasses to so would prefer some none prescription that I can wear over my contacts and take off as needed.

Not sure if they are still fashionable but I have a pair of Tom Ford sunnies that are still going strong.

£200 for something that’ll last for ages is fine. People spend more than that on a couple of pieces that last one season. I’ve had my TF Whitney for 10 years and they are still going strong.

I’ve just bought some Dita frames with top of the line varifocals that came in just over £1400.
what’s your point?

Lucky you! My prescription varifocals were more than £200.

I still love my Jackie O Ray Bans. They are around 8yrs old and I wear them as soon as the sun comes out. I got them from an independent opticians.

I think you know what PPs point is . You're either being flippant or pointing out you have more money than most . No need to be snarky.

thr335teen · 14/05/2025 17:51

Celine glasses are probably what you're looking for

its just incredibly boring and frankly unhelpful when someone posts a question and someone replies incredulous that anyone would spend that much.

its irrelevant. People can spend what they want

YYYDlilah · 14/05/2025 20:35

Try Primark.

I agree. When I saw the title, I made the conscious decision to open the thread knowing that massive sunglasses might mean Celine or Chanel or some other pricey brand. It's a choice.

This is S&B, where we all come to relax and let off some stress and talk clothes and accessories.

FYI, I am just about to get some compensation from an accident, and go to Italy on holiday, and one thing I am planning on doing is dropping a sh!t tonne of dosh on a pair of sunnies in a gorgeous shop. Or a bag, not sure yet.

I don't spend a lot of money on clothes etc. and f*ck it, I am buying some fabulous bin lids.
