I do hope this means they're getting ready to re-launch online orders. I read they're losing £4m per day from online sales and I am CHAMPING AT THE BIT to place an order.

Oh no! Either that or the hackers have taken further action because they haven’t been paid.

They must be losing so much money.

The message says

"Sorry you can't browse the site currently.
We're making some updates and will be back soon."

So hopefully not. Although that could be a front - who knows?

I feel so bad for them, I also desperately need to place an order!

Afarmgirl · 13/05/2025 07:27

Even the app has stopped working

Doncarlos · 13/05/2025 07:27

Honestly between them and Coop being basically empty it’s just really bloody annoying now.
I know they must have major issues since the hack to have taken the sales offline for so long and it’s A very first world problem, but I’m just pissed off with the lot of them now.

Butchyrestingface · 13/05/2025 07:30

They've struggled at various times over the years (don't know what their current financial situation is like now). To lose £4m in sales per day could potentially decimate even a healthy business.

Hopefully they'll recoup at least some of the losses if people flock to place online orders once the site goes alive again but it probably won't even touch the sides that the damage the last month has wrought. Sad

Oooh, it's live again!

Maybe they heard me. (Assume it was down overnight for maintenance).

Online orders still paused though. Easter Sad

I was excited when I saw your OP @Butchyrestingface , reset my password and tried to check out … no joy, hopefully we will be able to place an order later today.

Muchtoomuchtodo · 13/05/2025 07:42

According to my friend who works there, they’re basically having to rewrite all of their software rather than give in to the ransom. It could be many more weeks before they’re fully back up and running.

one of her colleagues is trying to buy a house but can’t print their wage slips, their pay is all over the place too. It’s more far reaching than is immediately obvious.

doodahdayy · 13/05/2025 07:43

I desperately need to place an M&S order must be the most middle class problem ever.

Yes I’ve heard it’s pretty desperate situation. My mum (no she’s not a cyber security expert 😁) reckons Harrods has paid the ransom as they seem to be ok. I think she could be right.

And all because an ICT helpdesk agent changed a password and gave the hackers access. But I can see how that could happen.

mummytoonetryingfortwo · 13/05/2025 08:15

No online orders still. Message on their app states personal information has been stolen, but “not passwords or card details”

Flossflower · 13/05/2025 08:16

There is some very basic M&S clothes, mostly children’s clothes and school uniform, on the Ocado site. I have ordered some of these successfully during the current problem.

Longhotsummers · 13/05/2025 08:23

There’s a new message in the site about the data of customers being stolen. Mine certainly has been as I’ve had lots of spam since the incident started that has bypassed my security. I’m glad my card details weren’t stored on there as well.

I’ve had the same. Lots of spam texts and calls. Really disappointed that this has been going on for weeks now and they are only just admitting this.

I got quite a few missed calls a couple of weeks back plus an automated voice message from same number claiming to be HMRC and unless I called them back were about to institute legal proceedings.

I’m self-employed so that was nice.

Obviously I didn’t call them back.

My spam inbox has been absolutely chokka the last month or so.

These^ are my feelings exactly.
Between 3 of us in the house we do wear a lot of M&S because of their sizing so I’m devastated.

It’s not a good look at all. I for one won’t be purchasing from them unless they come out, with full transparency, and say who did this, why they did it, how much they demanded and why M&S decided that the security of customer details was worth less to them than the monetary amount being demanded.

bugalugs45 · 13/05/2025 08:45

I thought we were back in business too, I’ve reset my password, gone to check out and still nothing !
gutted as go on holiday in 10 days time so have a basket full…

You sound rather entitled 😁

I'm sure the Cyber experts and police will decide what information they share with whom, no doubt they'll be including the loss of your custom in their deliberations

Nope, just a loyal customer to M&S who has now been inundated with spam calls and emails without any transparency from them at all.

bugalugs45 · 13/05/2025 08:49

Annoyingly their ‘ find in store ‘ option isn’t working either as I’d be prepared to drive to a large out of town branch if I had some hope of getting what I was after .
Do feel for them though, as you say must be losing money hand over fist

SwornToSilence · 13/05/2025 08:49

I had a bra fitting at M&S yesterday and was told their stock is all over the show due to the attack so as I couldn't get my size in store I needed to order it at the end of the week when the online orders came back on line. I'd assume this is part of the relaunch post cyber attack

fruitandvegoverload · 13/05/2025 08:50

I'm waiting for the customer service online chat feature to go back online as I returned an item on 19 April and it's still not been refunded. I haven't tried ringing their customer service number as I imagine there's a long wait, does anyone know? I prefer to do online chat anyway.

I love M&S and I hope they can recover from this attack.
