Isn’t this horrible

What is so disgusting about it? It’s just a short sleeved check shirt in a bright colour. I don’t see why it should have an age cut-off point?

pictoosh · 01/05/2025 10:06

I think it's fine if it suits his personality and he likes it.

Why aren't men allowed to enjoy colour...or patterns?
So stupid.

Overtheatlantic · 01/05/2025 10:25

I don’t have a problem with it. As PP wrote it is popular in Germany. Also in the USA if you wear preppy clothes.

FancyCatSlave · 01/05/2025 10:29

Gingham is everywhere this summer. I’m sporting gingham myself today.

henlake7 · 01/05/2025 10:32

I like it. Kinda reminds me of something you'd see a cartoon character wearing!
If I saw a bloke in this I probably wouldnt think he was the most stylish but I bet he'd be fun to hang with!😃

pictoosh · 01/05/2025 10:32

For a red gingham shirt for a man, I think it's a nice one. Good casual cut and what looks like decent quality fabric.

isthismylifenow · 01/05/2025 10:34

Disgusting is such a strange word to use in this context 🤔

GeorgianaM · 01/05/2025 12:30

It's awful. It has a patch pocket which is grim, short sleeves (shudder) and the red gingham is more suitable for a waitress in an American diner circa 1954.

bramblefoot · 01/05/2025 12:58

What someone else wears is up to them I'd have thought. Shaming someone into not wearing an item because you don't like it seems quite unkind really, especially words like "disgusting". If someone's DH or DP came on here saying their middle aged wife had plans to wear this and taking the piss out of them and calling it disgusting, people would leap on it.

It's a shirt, I can't imagine a single person looking at it in public would have any meaningful thoughts at all.

PeskyRooks · 01/05/2025 13:07

I wouldn't look twice at someone wearing this in the street, it's OK.
I would laugh if I saw a bloke wearing it on the school run because he would be matching all the little girls coming out!

MrsPlantagenet · 01/05/2025 13:08

Hideous. The sort of uniform blokes wear when completely devoid of style.

Hattieandcake · 01/05/2025 13:16

Yes awful - reminds me of something a large racist American would wear

ApolloandDaphne · 01/05/2025 13:24

It's hardly disgusting. It's just a red gingham shirt. I would wear it!

DissDissOrDiss · 01/05/2025 13:26

I like it and would be happy to see a bloke I was married to / shagging wear it in the summer.

CurlyCabbage · 01/05/2025 13:29

Eh? Its perfectly fine. Id get him to pop a white tshirt underneath and leave this shirt unbuttoned. Blue baggy jeans and youve got yourself a diet coke break 🤤. No? Just me then

JustAMiddleAgedDirtBagBaby · 01/05/2025 13:29

It don't particularly like it, but it's inoffensive.

Disgusting is a bit much when there are shirts in the world with "nice legs, what time do they open?" emblazoned across the chest as I have recently seen.

myplace · 01/05/2025 13:30

Seersucker is great!

It’s cool, doesn’t need ironing, and adds a bit of interest to a rather plain print. DS looks great in strong reds. Most men look better in a shirt than a T.

Iloveeverycat · 01/05/2025 13:36

It's just a check shirt!

MissyB1 · 01/05/2025 13:40

Errmm.. Lots of men and boys wear checked shirts don't they? Am I missing something?

loropianalover · 01/05/2025 13:44

Do you dislike the middle aged man who wants to wear the shirt?

This feels like it must be personal, I wouldn’t look twice at it if I saw someone wearing it on the street. It’s not ‘disgusting’ or in any way offensive.

CoCoJones26 · 01/05/2025 13:48

My husband has this exact one...bought it as it was reduced....wore it a few times then decided ( for himself!) that he didn't like it. It's now a top worn for decorating!

BatsInSpring · 01/05/2025 13:58

Is he a table in a dated bistro? If so, fine

ChristmaslightsuptilJanuary · 01/05/2025 13:59

Short-sleeved shirts on men give me the ick

ChristmaslightsuptilJanuary · 01/05/2025 14:01

But I also wouldn't presume I can tell another adult what to wear

IHaveAlwaysLivedintheCastle · 01/05/2025 14:01

I assumed it was something like that but actually it's just the OP hasn't spotted that gingham is very much in at the moment. Rather silly of OP.

Oh if it's seersucker, even better. Great material.
