Comfortable but stylish sandal…. Do they exist?

User1213 · 08/04/2025 20:23

I have a holiday coming up and likely to be walking early evenings so want something stylish but comfortable, can go with casual dresses / shorts etc but jeans at home? Ideally not fully slip on as I have toddlers to chase after.

I am prone to blisters, in fact I don’t think I’ve ever owned a pair of shoes / trainers that don’t cause them hence the need for comfortable and plenty of toe room as I think they sometimes rub but I don’t have wide feet.

Try Geox for stylish but comfortable sandals. Teva for more robust walking sandals.

Gabor Lanzarote sandals work great for me/

TheLadyMaud · 08/04/2025 20:28

Celtic and co, moshulu, art are all brands I get on with that would fit your criteria

I bought these FitFlop sandals for our holiday last year, wore them all the time, kept wearing them after the holiday and got them out this week. They’re so comfortable. https://www.fitflop.com/uk/en/shop/gen-ff-buckle-two-bar-leather-slides-p-HE8#592
I may get another pair this year in a different colour!

I live in my Teva sandals in the summer. Particularly like the Universal “Slim” style as they just look that bit more elegant, but can do 20,000+ steps easy peasy: https://www.teva-eu.com/en/gb/women-sandals/original-universal-slim/1150110.html?srsltid=AfmBOoquFrWJLgWOOY6srqAsz-JNYbPGOqCNj7cGsbtQgB2Y9Sgla80h

They also come in leather which is elevated again but still super comfortable and practical: https://www.teva-eu.com/en/gb/women-sandals/original-universal-slim-leather/1151031.html

Also just got these which are lovely and strappy but minimal still. Only worn around the house but very comfy sole. Normally cannot stand anything with a toe post but this one is really soft somehow: https://www.teva-eu.com/en/gb/womens-olowahu-flip-flops/6840.html?dwvar_6840_color=MBOB

Friends have also raved about this style (have worn for hiking days in Majorca!) but I haven’t personally tried: https://www.teva-eu.com/en/gb/women-sandals/voya-infinity/1019622.html?dwvar_1019622_color=BLK

Thanks all, I’ve been looking at Teva, wasn’t sure if they’d be able more comfortable than a cheap flip flop but I’m intrigued. Found some Geox on Amazon so might give those a try and can return if not.

Hotter Tourist are amazingly comfortable and reasonably stylish.

LeopardsANeutral · 09/04/2025 14:50

Birkenstocks? They do some non slip on ones and they've been very on trend with all outfits for a while now.

User1213 · 09/04/2025 14:54

@LeopardsANeutral I have some Birkenstocks, I like them, reasonably comfortable but can make the balls of my feet ache after a while, though I might try and some that are more strapped so don’t flop

I'm like a broken record but agree with PP on Tevas. It's a running joke with my husband that sandals and holidays mean I'm guaranteed blistered but not since I've started wearing Tevas. They are amazing. I've got the brown leather ones (along with a few pairs of the plain material ones) and I think they're pretty smart. I'm after the olive green next!

DidntHaveTheLatin · 09/04/2025 15:22

PSA: there will be a lot of conflicting opinions on here...there always are on "stylish but comfortable sandals" threads!

My twopennorth (so?) is that Teva are generally extremely comfy for me. I've worn a pair of their Universal Slides (not slim) for 5+ summers and they're brilliant, and great for in water. I had a backless tan leather version that were my bestest ever all-rounder sandal but sadly they don't make them any more. RIP those sandals, seriously. I currently wear their Zymic style but it's sort of deliberately ugly and clunky-looking, although extremely light - I love them but they're not for everyone.

Stylish sandal-wise, I have some FitFlop two-bar Gracie sandals on a light cooker colour leather which look good with everything.

I've gone off Birkenstocks recently - IMO the two-strap versions are the most stylish.

Camper have some nice options, and I don't mind a pair of Saltwater but they're not everyone's taste.

If your style leans towards Toast and the like, then you might like to look at some of the Spanish and Portuguese footwear brands, or Penelope Chilvers.

User1213 · 09/04/2025 15:32

@DidntHaveTheLatin I like the look of the originals, slim look too flat for me. When I say stylish I just mean something I can wear with shorts, jeans, long denim / cargo skirts etc not a typical closed toe walkers sandal etc. I think Tevas are ideal for this, seem to be the middle ground!

@lunaemma these look fab too thank you.

They do some different styles but I’ve never found a Skechers sandals that’s not comfy!

Rina66 · 09/04/2025 15:46

I had some lovely Nokwol ones last year but it doesn’t look as though they’re making them this year.
Much to everyones disgust I love my Crocs - they work really well on holiday, not the clogs, the slides version.

Moshulu

I would make sure you buy a pair, not just one sandal.

A single sandal may be devastatingly stylish, but believe me your unclad foot will suffer, and might lead to unsightly cuts, dirt and abrasions.

Two sandals. A walking pair, such as Ecco, would be a good bet.

AirborneElephant · 09/04/2025 17:52

I like the teva TirraTraveller. Really comfy, can walk all day. And doesn’t look like a “walking sandal” with a dress / shorts / jeans in the evening.

FantasiaTurquoise · 09/04/2025 18:31

Look up cipriata sandals on amazon. They have a memory foam sole and are so comfortable.

deeahgwitch · 09/04/2025 18:39

Skechers do lovely wedge sandals that are really comfortable.

Dunkou · 09/04/2025 19:20

I have an Ecco pair. They are really comfy, can walk miles. They reek though after a couple of wears, and I don’t generally have smelly feet with any other shoes. They don’t have a leather sole (where your foot touches). The Teva leather ones look like a good shout.

Daisymae23 · 09/04/2025 19:26

I tried some Joseph seible sandles on in the shop but couldn’t justify the price tag but found the exact ones on Vinted for £6
