Comfortable but stylish sandal…. Do they exist?

I have a holiday coming up and likely to be walking early evenings so want something stylish but comfortable, can go with casual dresses / shorts etc but jeans at home? Ideally not fully slip on as I have toddlers to chase after.

I am prone to blisters, in fact I don’t think I’ve ever owned a pair of shoes / trainers that don’t cause them hence the need for comfortable and plenty of toe room as I think they sometimes rub but I don’t have wide feet.

Hotter Tourist are amazingly comfortable and reasonably stylish.

All the Hotter shoes I've bought over the years have been really comfortable, although I buy them as I have wide feet. No idea if they're stylish.

@BlackSheepThisYear I bought some saltwater originals a few years back - loved them so much but unfortunately I gave myself plantar fasciitis (I’m guessing because they are so flat). From this thread I’ve seen the Saltwater Boardwalks - are they noticeably different from the originals? Look to have a much thicker sole? I would be so happy if I could get a pair but am scared of the damage I did last time!

The boardwalks are noticeably more supportive. I have a bad knee and ankle and would not be happy walking miles in the originals. However I wore the boardwalks the whole summer when I first had them and walked around cities, countryside, in the sea - comfortable for all of them. Would totally recommend.

These

I bought these last year, so comfortable and bouncy...for about 10 minutes, then they ripped my feet to shreds!

AngelsWithSilverWings · 11/04/2025 23:05

I wear saltwater boardwalks and can walk miles in them. They are very supportive. I have three pairs of them in tan , black and rose gold and plan to get another colour this summer.

Just back from a holiday in Marrakech and walked and walked in my tan ones during the day and wore the gold ones with long dresses in the evenings ( gave up on anything fancier or with a heel as the cobbles in the old town made walking difficult so I was so glad I had packed two pairs of saltwaters) I used to wear the thin soled ones all the time but they were no good for long walks.

I just bought these. A very ‘on trend’ style and they are extremely comfortable

Interested to know the answer too OP but I’ve got the additional issue of wide feet!

Same here ! I can’t wear Birkenstocks the raised sides hurt my feet. Also my feet hurt with soles that are too thin or super flat.

Just bobbing back to say I've just seen an Insta ad for some really nice Sorel sandals, maybe worth a look if anyone is still searching.

I’m considering the Saltwater Boardwalks but don’t like their return policy much - you pay postage plus a £3 restocking fee plus an extra fee if the box is damaged. Can’t see a department store that stocks adult ones so I could try them on (I’m in London).

@DidntHaveTheLatin thank you!

LadyLucyWells · 12/04/2025 17:00

I’ve had sandals from Clarks before that fit this criteria.

ClioMuse · 12/04/2025 17:06

Someone mentioned Heavenly feet and I thought their sandals looked lovely and reasonable too.

Pantofolaio · 12/04/2025 19:12

I buy a new pair of these in a different style every year- the flattest are too flat but the rest are very, very comfortable. You sound like me. My feet are very soft. These a a bit like Birks in that they have suede insoles and so e styles are similar but these are soft and bendy. This is the original site but I’m sure you can get them in different shops in the UK too. https://www.fantasy-sandals.gr/en

@BlackSheepThisYear and @AngelsWithSilverWings thank you, that’s so helpful re Saltwater Boardwalks. I think I’ll risk it!

@Dunkou and @DidntHaveTheLatin thank you too for the sales info- really useful.

I’ll be so grateful to you all if I can buy a pair and wear them as I love how they look.

fruitpastille · 12/04/2025 20:43

I've also just bought a pair of the fitflop fisherman sandals linked above (I got the off white ones). They look good with quite a bit of stuff in my wardrobe and the extra bit of height is flattering on my short legs. I will probably get some tevas or something for walking longer distances. I'll keep last year's birks for just slipping on quickly when I need to nip out though.

I got myself a pair of Gabor Lanzarote thanks to this post. So comfortable.
