Could I wear this silver dress to a wedding - or is it too white?

Last thing I would want to offend anyone - I was thinking of adding bright coloured and bold accessories to break it up?

No.

caringcarer · 05/04/2025 23:41

No, it's too white.

Dinglydelll · 05/04/2025 23:43

Gutted!

I think with colourful accessories it would work. It isn't a bridal dress and nobody would think you are the bride.

mondaytosunday · 05/04/2025 23:55

No I don’t think it’s right for a wedding guest.

Justhere65 · 05/04/2025 23:57

No and because you sought our opinion, that makes me think you may feel uncomfortable if you did wear it?

LilacPony · 06/04/2025 00:00

Ah no I fear in some lights or in photos it may look too light? Depends on the bride, the type of wedding etc as to whether that’s ok

Dinglydelll · 06/04/2025 00:00

It looks much darker and greyer in natural daylight

Could break it up with either a bright sparkly necklace or chunky coloured one with bright matching platform sandals?

Absolutely you can. Not close to white at all and with bright accessories it would look lovely.

Kaftankween · 06/04/2025 00:02

They have the same dress in other colours. The pink metallic and a floral. Would either of those work better?

Lucked · 06/04/2025 00:02

Still no. Sorry

sassysaint99 · 06/04/2025 00:03

It’s fine imo and really lovely

Kaftankween · 06/04/2025 00:04

Having said that I think the dress is much darker silver than it looks in the first few photos. I don’t think anyone will think you’re the bride or wearing white.

abricotine · 06/04/2025 00:04

That dress comes in loads of colours, could you find another?

AxolotlEars · 06/04/2025 00:04

Of course, you can

11811B · 06/04/2025 00:06

I do love this dress but it can look near white in some pictures depending on lighting and I wouldn't relax wondering what the pics look like. It's not bridal at all in real life but I'd steer clear because of the risk. I love it and if you do too try one of the other colours, could you do black and brighten with accessories?

AllFours · 06/04/2025 00:07

Nope. One of my dear friends wore the same one as her wedding dress (she looked fab!) It’s a great dress and very flattering on lots of body types. Any of the other colours or the floral could definitely work as a wedding guest. There was also a gorgeous blue variation at some point that might be on one of the hire sites?

Ecocool · 06/04/2025 00:07

It's lovely. Wear it. Only on Mumsnet do some women go mental thinking only a bride can wear a white/cream/silver dress.

BeckieG · 06/04/2025 00:10

Yeah that’s fine!
just don’t wear a veil Grin

Dinglydelll · 06/04/2025 00:15

Pink wouldnt work for me as I am redhead/auburn.

Its an early Sept wedding and I think the other colours look too dark for that time of the year (I love the green).

If I had a dark green / turquoise wrap ... could I wing it?

Cocolapew · 06/04/2025 00:22

No

Airwaterfire · 06/04/2025 00:25

I wouldn’t. It’s a lovely dress but a bit upstage-y for a wedding.

Whatever many mumsnetters might think, you don’t want to be the person the bride (or her mum/family/friends) is upset with because she thinks your dress is too bridal-looking!

OliviaFlaversham · 06/04/2025 00:25

I think so. It is not bridal at all and a green wrap/hat/shoes would keep it firmly in the guest not party camp.

I cannot think of anyone I know being offended by it-I certainly wouldn’t be.

I think it will be fine.
It is clearly silver in colour and not a bridal gown/wedding dress.
Mumsnet can be weird at times.
