Mid price face moisturiser help.

I am looking for a mid price moisturiser with SPF15 or more. I currently use Clarins super restorative day cream which is £80 for 50ml. I want to pay less, maybe £30/40. I am age 62 and have dryish skin with is fairly sensitive and prone to redness. I like my cream to be fairly thick and smell lush. The Clarins one has changed formulation recently and it is now much thinner in consistency. If anyone has any recommendation I will be very grateful. Thanks.

OP I would recommend that you get a moisturiser and separate SPF. Garnier do SPF which is around the £13 mark and that would give you some wiggle room for moisturiser that you like.

I love Olay complete care.

I love the Boots No7 skincare range. They do a range for mature skin. I like the Future renew range.

Theres usually an offer on, and something from No7 is always on £10 Tuesday.

LizzieSiddal · 04/04/2025 13:58

I’m 59 and have started using No 7 Future Renew night cream during the day because I find it really moisturising. Only thing is it hasn’t got sun cream in it, but I prefer to use my own when I need it rather than putting it on my skin every day.

It’s just over £30 but I only buy when Boots have their 3 for 2 offers (which is about once every two months ).

I like Olay Total effects, it’s goes on so well and feels lovely on, smells nice too. Got lots of good things in it too.

CookingFatCat · 04/04/2025 14:05

** and spf 30

stayathomer · 04/04/2025 14:07

Avene skin soothing cream, holy grail for me. I use le Roche posay spf afterwards

dnadiscoveryquery · 04/04/2025 14:07

I recently found the Olay Collagen Peptides cream. It’s SPF30. It’s lovely and thick. I have sensitive skin too and it hasn’t irritated it once. Currently half price on Amazon too!

ApolloandDaphne · 04/04/2025 14:08

I do have a separate SPF cream but I always forget about it. I'm a bit of a minimal skincare woman. I will look at the Olay one.

The Inkey list bio active ceramide moisturiser has really good reviews. I ordered after reading the reviews. Is about £19 and sometimes on offer. get a separate spf, it's more effective. Boots soltan is really good.

There's this review and lots of others if you google.

All My Beauty Editor Friends Agree: This £19 Moisturiser Is Unbeatable

Beauty editors can’t get enough of The Inkey List’s £19 ceramide moisturiser — it really is that good.

I did a beauty pie haul and I’ve been pretty happy with their stuff for the price point. Their bestselling moisturizer is good, their SPF is good, I like the serums in the orange bottle and the brightening drops. Their retinol plus vitamin C has been nice for nighttime. Overall good and healthy skin at 44 and happy enough with it for the lower price.

I like a high end moisturizer like Elemis but it is very expensive.

Overtheatlantic · 04/04/2025 14:42

I’m 57 and recently got ROC maximum hydration cream. It’s thick and smells great.

ApolloandDaphne · 04/04/2025 15:43

Thank you everyone. I can have a look in Boots next week and I'm going abroad soon so can check out any airport bargains.

No 7 future renew for me too.

Nc500again · 04/04/2025 18:31

Agree no7 future renew and beauty pie both great. Also love Elemis if you can find a deal..

monsterfish · 04/04/2025 18:40

Medik8 do a nice range of moisturisers with spf in.

MissAtomicBomb1 · 04/04/2025 18:50

Cerave Am moisturiser is great, especially used alongside retinoids & has SPF

ObliviousCoalmine · 04/04/2025 19:00

The amount of spf you need to use would negate it being able to be applied as a moisturiser, and a wild waste of money. If you only want one, you’re better off buying a very good quality spf and using no moisturiser in the morning and then using one at night.

Do you have any favourites / recommendations for a good SPF?

bloodredfeaturewall · 05/04/2025 11:51

for most people a moisturiser with spf is enough.
if you spend most day indoors and only go out from door to car to office...

if spending more time outside then yes, you need extra sun protection.

WhoWhereWhatWhy · 05/04/2025 11:54

I would buy the one you like, but I’m eBay. It is £54. And use less, but use a separate SPF is cheaper. It may work out at about the same spend.
