SPF 50 or higher specifically for face - what do you use?🌞

I usually use Nuxe factor 50 sun protection lotion daily but it is playing havoc with my eyes. They are streaming badly within a few minutes of putting it on. uk.nuxe.com/products/melting-sun-cream-very-high-protection-spf50

I have to put it fairly near my eye area as I have some sun spots on the tops of my cheeks and I think this is what is causing the reaction, but I never put it on my eyelids. Also get the same with Ambre Solaire.

Can anyone whose eyes stream and run at the drop of a hat recommend a good face SPF that doesn't trigger them?

This is very useful so thank you!

LittleMonks11 · 03/04/2025 13:28

Try Ultrasun

Taytotots · 03/04/2025 13:34

I have the same issue with sunscreen and moisturisers. This stuff is great https://www.laroche-posay.co.uk/en_GB/anthelios-uvmune-400-invisible-fluid-spf50-sun-cream-for-sensitive-skin-50ml/LRP_026.html

Mikart · 03/04/2025 13:36

Altruist

Walkacrossthesand · 03/04/2025 13:37

Or L’Oréal Dark spot factor 50/boots no.7 factor 50 face cream, might be worth a try?

Ilovelowry · 03/04/2025 13:39

My DH has this issue and has to buy Avene mineral sunscreen. None of the others are OK for his face (and we are usually ultrasun).

Ilovelowry · 03/04/2025 13:40

Altruist gave me a rash all over my cheeks.

Pomer0l · 03/04/2025 13:42

I have very sensitive eyes and Nivea sensitive spf 50 for face is fine for me. I bought Altruist after all the recommendations on here and my eyes streamed

BashfulClam · 03/04/2025 13:42

Altruist is what was recommended by DH dermatologist as he has lupus and needs a good sun protection.

moleeye · 03/04/2025 14:06

I use Ultra Violette - am a die hard fan.

Santasbigredbobblehat · 03/04/2025 14:16

La Roche Posay.

CMOTDibbler · 03/04/2025 14:19

La Roche posay or Ultra Violette. I tried Altruist (actually I think I’ve bought every spf 50 out there due to my very sun sensitive skin) and wasn’t impressed

AltitudeCheck · 03/04/2025 14:21

I use L'Oréal Revitalift SPF50 and it doesn't sting.

gianfrancogorgonzola · 03/04/2025 14:21

Altruist, ultra violette, supergoop

UmberMoose · 03/04/2025 14:22

I would suggest using the SPF50+ from la roche posay, it's good.
So here is my routine that I follow with tretinoin:
Morning:
Using water to wash your face and micellar water
Sebamed clear face gel,
LRP spf
Evening:
LRP moisturizer,
Started with Tretinoin (0.025) from skinorac
Sebamed clear facial gel

PrincessOfPreschool · 03/04/2025 14:26

I get stingy eyes. I used to use Clinique mineral one and it was great but expensive. I now use the garnier vitamin c daily uv. It soaks in really well and doesn't affect my eyes.

PrincessOfPreschool · 03/04/2025 14:27

The garnier is spf 50

FigPig · 03/04/2025 14:29

Ultraviolette. I don’t think I’d ever swap. I’ve tried a lot and it is the best of the best. I like The Altruist for general SPF but I found the facial stuff pilled badly on me.

Wipethedogspaws · 03/04/2025 14:29

The LRP one mentioned above us brilliant. I use Altruist sometimes, but it can irritate eyes.

AndSoFinally · 03/04/2025 20:47

The Elizabeth Arden Prevage one is good, and the AlphaH SPF 50+ Moisturiser from M&S is also nice

MargaritaPracticallyCan · 03/04/2025 20:57

I used Cerave factor 50 on my face all year round, it's unscented, not thick and gloopy, absorbs quickly, great under make up. For my body, particularly if we're somewhere hot, I use Ultrasun after seeing it recommended here, as anything else seems to set off bouts of prickly heat.

Hotafternoon · 03/04/2025 21:00

Eucerin 100spf.

Been using it for a while as I need to be ultra careful after fairly extensive facial surgery for BCC.
