Socks that don’t dig in!

I’m hoping you can recommend some socks to wear with cropped straight or barrel legged jeans and trainers.
I’m size 12 and 5’7 with size 8 feet.

Any socks I wear seem to dig in and so when I sit down and my jeans rise up a bit, there’s an unsightly leg bulge over the top !

I’ve tried knee length socks but these geel
too tight too ! And quite hot.

Any recommendations to spare my muffin top legs? !!

Feeling your pain...waiting for the sock wise to appear.

OldWave · 17/03/2025 21:34

Can I join the club? I am thick of ankle. I've tried men's socks but incredibly they are not much better!

GreatTheCat · 17/03/2025 21:35

Why don't you wear trainer socks?

wendywoopywoo222 · 17/03/2025 21:36

You need soft top socks. Can get them most places.

Where ? Share. You obv know what I don't.

I'm size 8 shoes but have been buying men's 9-11 socks. You can also buy men's socks with a 'comfort' top so they stay up but don't dig in. Sainsburys and Asda sell them. Not very glam I know but it works for me 😁

Bonbon21 · 17/03/2025 21:40

Sockshop, soft top bamboo... every colour under the sun... wash like ribbons.. never buy anything else!!

Petuniaspetal · 17/03/2025 21:40

I tried the men sock route but God it's depressing... they're usually so boring. 😴

MightyBust · 17/03/2025 21:41

I think the useful phrase is gentle grip, but I haven't tried them yet.

I find socks both too short and too tight.

RosesAndHellebores · 17/03/2025 21:42

M&S socks are fine for me. Do you suffer from swollen ankles.

cherrytree12345 · 17/03/2025 21:46

Another fan here for Sockshop, soft top bamboo socks. They are great, really soft and wonderful range of colours

wantmorenow · 17/03/2025 21:46

Need "comfort cuff" by Pringle. Last ages and super comfortable.

I can recommend Seasalt Sailor socks. Cute patterns, nice colours and very soft/forgiving without slipping under the heel.

hobbledyhoy · 17/03/2025 21:49

Bamboo from the sock shop, best socks I've ever owned! I'm same height/size as you but 7 feet.
Good value too

BearPear · 17/03/2025 21:49

Google “diabetic socks” which sounds very unsexy but should reveal socks that don’t grip your ankles!

wineintrastevere · 17/03/2025 21:53

I also came on to suggest diabetic socks ( got mine from Amazon).

Judystilldreamsofhorses · 17/03/2025 21:55

I like these socks:

https://www.arket.com/en_gbp/women/socks-tights/product.chunky-knit-socks-blue.1007732014.html

I have small feet (UK 4) and despite not being particularly fat (UK 12) have big calves, so know this problem well. As a child my grandpa used to say I had “Highland man’s knees” and “hockey legs” which has stayed with me forever.

salcombebabe · 17/03/2025 21:57

You want Gentle Grip socks! I wear these and they're so comfortable and no ridge marks, plus they don't slip down either.

thedevilinablackdress · 17/03/2025 21:57

Mohair soft top socks from Pairs or the Cambridge Sock Company - lots of lovely colours

sunsetandcocktails · 17/03/2025 22:00

No swollen ankles as such, just must have a layer of ‘podge’ on my legs ! Am off to google diabetic socks and bamboo socks from
sock shop- thanks!

Matalan do them in the men's section.

AlteredStater · 17/03/2025 22:06

I'm going to be trying out some of the socks mentioned above. I've had no luck with diabetic socks or 'soft top' ones. I have the skinniest legs on the planet yet they still manage to leave deep marks!!

RavenT · 17/03/2025 22:09

Another sockshop bamboo sock fan. Super soft, no digging in.
