Jones Road Miracle Balm

Is it worth the hype?

I’m looking for something to swirl all over my face and make me glow, I don’t want to look glittery or greasy. Just healthy!

No. It's greasy and makes your hair stick to your face. Also comes in massive pots and a pricey mistake if you don't like it. If you do go ahead suggest trying the mini versions.

ForAzureSeal · 16/03/2025 11:46

It is an extremely marmite product. I like it but agree to try the minis. I got 4 in black Friday - an all over one, a bronzer and more of a blush /lip tint one and then a glittery one.

It is - obvious to say! - a balm i.e. It's not serumy at all. More of a thick waxy texture. I scrape a bit out, rub it between my fingers to soften it and then pat it on my face. This works for my quite dry, older skin. I also quite like the soapy smell. Others hate that.

It is a classic Bobbie look of "no make up" make up. So I look a bit healthier, plumper than normal.

Fagli · 16/03/2025 12:13

I chucked mine. It felt like Vaseline with a bit of lipstick mixed in.

Agree completely. It's a dreadful product! Threw mine away too.

BeautyBlanche · 16/03/2025 12:41

Agree with PP advice about getting mini pots if you can. The regular size is huge and if you hate it, it’s a lot of money to waste.

Saying that, I love them. I don’t find them greasy at all. They’re not recommended for people with oily skin. My skin can be dry. I’ve got long hair and it’s never stuck to me.

I use au naturel most but beware this is absolutely colourless on. It just gives a bit of a glow. So you may want something with more obvious colour to it? If you do like colour it’s a great way to have your cheeks, lips and even eyelids covered in the one product. There’s a quiz in their site to see which colours and products would be best for you.

I also find it has staying power. It’s like skin care for me more than make up. I wouldn’t buy if I had even the slightest of oily skin.

littleburn · 16/03/2025 13:25

I didn’t like it. I late 40s with dry skin so thought it’d be great in that regard, but I can’t get on with the sticky texture at all. You can feel it on your face, your hair sticks to it, your skin feels sticky if you touch it … it’s like a weird mix of Vaseline and waxy crayon!

You also need to apply it with your fingers - a brush or sponge won’t do it. If you watch the ‘how to’ videos they say you need to ‘break the seal’ with your finger, i.e. really dig it into the product. I’d end up with it under my fingernails and having to wash my hands each time I used it. I’m not normally sensitive to these things, but I found it a sensory nightmare! 😂

I did really want to love Jones Road as I like BB’s natural aesthetic, but I’ve found the products I’ve tried disappointing. They’ve taken the light-touch ‘your skin but better’ approach, but because they’re aiming at older women, made the skin products excessively moisturising/sticky, which makes it unpleasant to wear. The foundation is intended to give a natural look, and you only use a small amount, but the texture is so heavy with oils I could feel it sitting on my skin all day, like a heavy night cream. It’s also the most over-scented foundation I’ve ever used!

Chuchoter · 16/03/2025 13:26

Just get a liquid highlighter and mix a few drops with a few drops of foundation and make your own glowing complexion product!

Thats what I do.

Bluebellwood129 · 16/03/2025 13:28

Way too sticky for me

This stuff is a dupe I believe. I’ve got this and it’s pretty much how others have described, ie can be greasy but it’s fine if you warm it up and apply sparingly. Much cheaper if you just want to find out what it’s like as a product before you invest in the proper stuff.

Makeup Revolution Balm Glow

howdoyoudooooo · 16/03/2025 13:56

It’s very sticky. I’ve only tried as one of my daughters was gifted a pot, neither of us ever reaches for it.

Sali Hughes did a reel yesterday morning where she recommended Western Atelier bronzer and a couple of other glowy products. Worth checking those out.

downdizzy · 16/03/2025 15:20

My husband had been using it as a hair wax, awful product

ThePoshUns · 16/03/2025 15:31

I’ve got a pinky one that I use as a blusher. I wouldn’t buy it again though.

SnoreyCat · 16/03/2025 15:39

Going against the grain I really like it as a blusher and highlighter, but definitely for older/dryer skin. I also use the au natural on my turkey neck and it does a great job of disguising/ improving it.

Tumblingthrough · 16/03/2025 19:15

Thank you all.
Mixed opinions, will definitely go for a small pot

OP posts:
AllProperTeaIsTheft · 16/03/2025 19:19

I bought a dupe for it. Obviously the real thing may be better, but based on posts so far, maybe not! It's kind of like blusher mixed with vaseline.

Cordorr · 16/03/2025 19:21

I like it as blusher but I wouldn’t use it all over as a bronzer, the texture isn’t right for that

spartanrunnergirl · 16/03/2025 19:22

Charlotte tilbury unreal skin sheer glow tint stick will give you fab glow without all the sticky stuff. Re the balm, I have the cheap revolution dupe and quite like the colour it gives me but too sticky to wear much.

I tried the revolution dupe but found it far too sticky

faustina · 16/03/2025 20:00

You can't swish it, but you can put it here and there and then use a brush. I use the sunkissed one - it looks really dark in the pot but it's actually great on me. I don't find it greasy and my hair doesn't stick to it either. Definitely try a small pot if you can because the big one is huge and lasts forever - not something you want if you don't like it!

SexAndCakes · 16/03/2025 20:22

Gawd, Westman Atelier stuff is beautiful but even pricier than BB/Jones Road. I have a mini WA highlighter stick and it's gorgeous. Too painful to buy the full size though.

pepperaunt · 16/03/2025 20:29

Never would have bought this but a friend gave me one she bought and couldn’t use (much too greasy). I use it as an almost invisible blush, then put powder blush over it.

Serenster · 16/03/2025 21:08

I like it (bought a mini pot experimentally and have since bought 3 full-size) but use it sparingly. I don’t mind the smell, don’t use enough to feel it’s sticky and like the subtle glow it gives me. Past threads have been clear it’s a marmite product, though!

Bloozie · 16/03/2025 21:13

I love mine. It is exactly as someone has described - vaseline with lipstick mixed in. Not quite as sticky as vaseline, but that is a reasonable description of the texture. It's very waxy.

I don't wear it all over face. That would deffo be too much/sticky.

I use it sparingly on my cheekbones and into my cheeks proper as a blush/highlighter combo and it is indeed miraculous in terms of the glow it gives my face. I have one full size (Miami Beach) and a trio of minis - my favourite shade is Bronze.

My hair doesn't stick to it.

Phase2 · 16/03/2025 22:09

i love charlotte tilbury glow wand things for a bit of a glow. Tried the jones road stuff in Liberty and it’s just the wrong texture for my normal, 50 year old skin.

CinnamonJellyBeans · 16/03/2025 22:15

I like like the smell, texture and subtle glow. I use it as blush.

If you like it, it's actually pretty economical, as you only need a tiny amount.
