What trainers are we wearing?

I don't have enough shoes and need to invest in myself a bit more. For various reasons I've neglected myself, and my wardrobe, and had about 5 years olf 'making do'

I have
1 x Doc Marten shoes in cherry
1 x pair white casual trainers for summer
2 x sandals for summer
1 x walking books
some old pairs of high heels which never get worn.

and one pair of Hoka trainers which are filthy and do for dog walking, gym, general leaving the house.

so I need some trainers that stay nice and clean.
and some trainers I can use in the gym, and my current ones can stay for dog walking.

My friend has just bought some Gazelles but my husband wears those.

I have really bad feet/arches so can't cope with Converse anymore.

I like Sketchers Slip-ins. I have them in 3 colours! :)

Tulipsandaffodils · 21/02/2025 16:25

For wearing with skirts/dressws/jeans, I like stan smiths, very comfy and have the low profile that works. I also like lk Bennett’s, but they are a higher price point. The Stan smiths are more cushioned.

for the gym I’d just go basic adidas or Nike trainers, unless you’re a major runner or something,

festivemouse · 21/02/2025 16:26

New Balance are the current winners imo!

Titasaducksarse · 21/02/2025 16:29

I recently bought some Vionic trainers as I get terrible plantar fasciitis. They don't look orthopaedic though.
Both skechers and new balance didn't offer enough support.
I have some Pumas in gorgeous fuchsia colour but I have to use orthopaedic insoles in them.

Spongebobpatrick · 21/02/2025 16:31

Following for current trends as Im always years behind! I wear adidas court bold with dresses etc, really comfortable even for walking long distances. New Balance 327s for dressing down. Asics for walking as they are really roomy and comfortable.

I have insoles for PF so will definitely look at them.

I tried New Balance but found them really uncomfortable. Now have a pair of Hoff trainers and they have a similar style but much more comfortable.

Idontjetwashthefucker · 21/02/2025 16:36

I've got NB 327s which i wear a lot with jeans and cords, also love Hoff and have 2 pairs. Been looking at the Adidas Gazelle bold to wear with skirts and dresses...can't decide which colour though

LeopardsANeutral · 21/02/2025 16:37

I love gazelles, I'm sure my DH has a pair too but that wouldn't put me off mine. I still like sambas but don't know if they'll be going out of fashion by summer as they've been everywhere the past few years. New Balance are nice too, the chunky dad type ones or the smaller suede ones. I love the checkerboard vans still too. I wouldn't ever wear sketchers if it was purely for style.

redstripestar · 21/02/2025 17:32

I have a pair of white Air And Grace that I got for £20 on Vinted almost new.

I'm thinking of going for neutral colour trainers - a navy pair, a beige pair, maybe a light pink pair.

Topseyt123 · 21/02/2025 17:36

Skechers Slip-ins for me. I have a navy blue pair and a pink pair.

MinnieCoops · 21/02/2025 17:38

Adidas spezials are the most comfy out of those, Gazelles and Sambas

dontforgetme · 21/02/2025 17:42

I'm a gazelles girl. Can't go wrong.

OnlyHasEyesForLoki · 23/02/2025 14:37

I have various foot issues inc over pronation, poor arches, plantar faciitis and ankle misalignment. have Sketchers walkers slip ins that are ace but my daughter calls me an “old disabled woman” in them 🤣 so I recently bought these Adidas shoes for casual wear that look cool and are incredibly comfortable and supportive Here

For gym classes I wear Reebok HIIT shoes which are incredible Here

menopausalfart · 23/02/2025 14:54

I just bought a pair of Under Armour trainers to wear on my treadmill. They were cheap and, I think, look great. They're also really comfortable.

OldieButBaddie · 23/02/2025 14:57

My feet have gone into revolt and will only let me wear birkenstocks so I have been forced to buy these which are actually much nicer than I thought they would be! And so comfortable.

Bend Low Suede Leather Antique White | BIRKENSTOCK

I have Morton's neuroma, but realised that in the summer I didn't get it, so bought Birkie slippers and now have these too.

I can still wear converse but I have to have supportive insoles and wear lumpy things on them which sort my feet

ChristmasLightsLover · 23/02/2025 14:58

Allbirds are great. If you can get into London and try them on they will let you return them for a refund if they aren't right. I have a couple of styles.

DisenchantedDewberry · 23/02/2025 15:02

I live in vans but I get either the MTE type high tops, or I get the comfy cush soles, which have arch support or you can remove them and put in orthopaedic ones. I've also got a pair of slip on Skechers which were mainly for work but are like walking on clouds, they're just not very attractive! They seem to do various options which are nicer though depending on budget.
As for gym trainers, I don't know, I'm lazy 😂

Just adding as I then saw your comment about PF, I also had it and it was crippling, the skechers slip ons were a god send and I don't have issues with it anymore 🤞

Ohshutupdavidyoutwat · 23/02/2025 15:03

The only trainers I like and find remotely comfy are Adidas Stan Smiths, I dread to think how many pairs i have owned over the years. Also have a pair of Veja rio branco for a bit of colour.

Wexone · 23/02/2025 15:24

I saved up and along with vouchers splashed out on a pair of golden goose. before was vejyas. have to say fallen in love with them and full proper leather. the fact they are a bit scuffed aswell means I have worn them more as not afraid ti get them dirty. got a pair there on a second hand page there after Xmas then. they are a black pair so have one white and one balck pair now. love them and they are completely waterproof too. got vouchers at Xmas and now saving fir a pair of hi tops. I wear them every week and mu job causal enough that can wear to work sometimes. I detest sketchers and never liked the look of new balance assics etc. but then that's not my style
edited just to add I have flat feet and gg have good arch support for me. I am not a sporty person but wear alot running around. even wear them travelling

SeanMean · 23/02/2025 15:28

I have two pairs of Hoff. V comfortable!

Twillywoowooo · 23/02/2025 15:29

I wear Brooks and Saucony for running. Old ones for walking around. M&S do some really nice “fashion” trainers. Friends that have had PF always recommend Sketchers or Fitflop brands.

muzEqy · 23/02/2025 15:29

I have quite wide feet and like space in toe box, for sports i wear Altra, for smarter trainers Birkenstock Bend and casual Saucony Jazz

droopydafodils · 23/02/2025 15:31

I've got veja's , plain , white with black accents but look smart enough to wear with skirts/trousers in summer instead of a plain white pump. I had Superga canvas ones for the last few years but fancied a change.
They are very middle age mum trainers thought but I think that whole white pumps with outfit is!
