Mid Rise Jeans

What is going on with Jeans? High waisted everywhere. I have long legs but a short torso so high waisted jeans are fighting with my bra strap. Anyone found any mid rise jeans that are actually mid rise? I found the perfect jeans but unfortunately on a US website and the delivery, taxes and fees meant that two pairs of jeans would have been £225!!

Next have a big selection.

Kickingasssince72 · 20/02/2025 14:31

Next, Zara, Sometimes River Island.

I'm the same, can't stand high rise.

HouseAshamed · 20/02/2025 14:32

Try brands that do lots of different styles. Women's Jeans at M&S and use the filters. The descriptions say high waisted but they don't look it.

HouseAshamed · 20/02/2025 14:35

And these don't look low

Thanks. M&S are actually the worst. I spent pretty much a whole morning trying on jeans, loads say mid rise but they are high rise.

Ooh not thought of Zara and River Island. Next don't have anything. Been trying on in the shop this morning!

I wear children's clothes. They're much bigger than you'd expect.
I have things Age 12-13 and 13-14. I'm not saying how old I am but I've been aged 39 for longer than 15 years.

Sounds like you are smaller than me. I'm a 16.

John Lewis. And/or, their own label are fabulous.

Zara have a lot of mid rise atm.

Forthethirdyearinarow87 · 20/02/2025 15:14

I have the same figure as you op and second Next and funnily enough, C&A, which have mid-rise jeans helpfully marked as such on their website! I hadn’t shopped in there since I was a child but went in recently for precisely this reason! The quality isn’t bad either!

HouseAshamed · 20/02/2025 15:15

Not tiny. An 8 in jeans in most places. About average height.

FatFace jeans are pretty good. Try girlfriend or boyfriend.
Levi's should have some low rise.

Another recommendation for the And/Or jeans at JL. I have a pair of the boyfriends and they're really well made, incredibly comfortable and have a proper mid rise. The pics on JL don't really do them justice

MrsPernicious · 20/02/2025 16:21

Mid rise is higher than is used to be. Low rise now days is about what mid rise was 20 odd years ago.https://www.zara.com/uk/en/woman-jeans-low-waist-l1464.html?v1=2419215

TheOGCCL · 20/02/2025 16:34

I have never found a single pair of non high rise trousers/jeggings/jeans in M&S. They may claim to be mid rise but they are not on me and you can't tell on the website. I actually have short legs and a long torso but do not want high rise jeans eating me.

Because all the rises have got higher, as @MrsPernicious said, I've started looking at low rise. Low rise hasn't been around much for years and no one probably wants the Brittany Spears look but it appears low rise isn't necessarily that, it may just, in fact, be normal rise now! I tried on a pair in Hollister this week labelled low rise which I considered mid rise.

I wish they would give the rise measurements on things.

TheOGCCL · 20/02/2025 16:39

Levis boyfriend are mid rise

I think overall there is more choice around than a couple of years ago when everything was ribcage height.

BestDIL · 20/02/2025 16:45

Thank you all. I'm going to trawl through tomorrow.

I have been looking at low rise as others have stated low seems to be the new mid!

I knew I couldn't be on my own with this. Thanks again x

I'm having the same problem, high rise waistbands just slide down onto my waist and the crotch ends up near my knees.
But I've got loads of high rise leggings which are fine, they just mould to my shape.
Has anyone got the Halara jeans with the crossover elastic waistband? Although they're described as high waist I thought they might fit like my leggings.

Vinted is great for them, I buy all my jeans from there.

@CherryogDog , if you have jeans with lycra in them you need to wear a belt. They all seem to slide down otherwise, but some brands are worse than others.

CherryogDog · 20/02/2025 17:56

@HouseAshamed It's only high waist jeans that slip down on me.

AsFunAsEnglishWeather · 20/02/2025 17:58

These: https://www.stradivarius.com/gb/d03-straightleg-lowrise-jeans-l01410210 - they are not low rise (as they claim) but mid-rise. Comfortable and a bargain!

AsFunAsEnglishWeather · 20/02/2025 18:00

OP - forgot to add - I am the same shape as you and the waistband of those jeans runs across the bottom of my belly button.
