Hi so I am going to the same hairdresser like 3 years or so . She did amazing jobs. This time tho I went for root retouch and it messed up my whole head . She always says that it will wash out but I think she only robbing me because I have dark hair and it has to be lightend before and se does Malibu C so it will stick more and brighter (what she says). I don't want to walk out off the salon with colour that I don't want a that it will wash out(her words)

You want it brighter and she says it needs to be lighter first to do that? Are you not in agreement she needs to lighten it first?

I don’t fully understand your post.

Puttingoutfireswithgasoline · 13/02/2025 19:17

Either way I would speak to her and say you’re not happy with it, if it’s not been done as expected/agreed.

They are completely different colours, but she's right that your hair would need to be lifted to a much lighter shade before getting the copper colour. There wont be any way to achieve that shade on dark hair without lightening it.

Did she tell you that before applying the dye and did you refuse it?

GrannyAchingsShepherdsHut · 13/02/2025 19:24

That's you in all the photos?

And you wanted your hair lightened when she did the root touch up but she said no, the Malibu C (is that a type of dye?) didn't need lightening first, and now you've got the hair in the darker photo?

She says it will wash out and look like the brighter photos?

Is that right?

Completelyjo · 13/02/2025 19:26

Did you pay to have your hair bleached before the colour was put on?

Regardless it always wash out, she’s not robbing you because the colour fades. Bright colours are very high maintenance.

Changingplace · 13/02/2025 19:29

I’m confused, what was your hair like when you went in this time? Was it like the second picture and she retouched your roots?

I think to get back to picture one you’d need it significantly lightening first because it’s much lighter.

Maya002 · 13/02/2025 19:30

I only was only scheduled for root retouch because it was only 3 months ago so I had the colour already only wanted root retouch NOTHING else

Did you go in for a root retouch for the colour in the first picture and she’s done it like picture two?

No the first photo is what I had before and after is the second one

But the second one isn't a root retouch Confused

That's a full on dye. Didn't you notice her not painting only the first inch of your head ?

Puttingoutfireswithgasoline · 13/02/2025 19:34

Wow, so he or she dyed it all darker… I would go back and ask for it to be fixed.

Well maybe give it a wash and then go back. I can’t see the colour washing out to bright orange.

But the thing is she did only root and she brushed it through and apply the copper on the end so I don't know what went wrong

The dark root colour probably bled into the lighter copper colour when she rinsed. Is Malibu C a direct dye? If it is she is correct, it will fade after a couple of washes.

Next time ask for it to be rinsed in cold water, that will reduce the colours bleeding into each other.

Frequency · 13/02/2025 19:48

I've googled. Malibu C is a direct dye remover i.e. a weak bleach. Did she use the Malibu C instead of bleach to lighten your hair last time?

If so, that's very odd. Using regular bleach powder and a low volume peroxide would be much less damaging and much quicker.

Whether or not the colour you have now will wash or fade quickly depends on what type of colour it is. If it was applied directly from the bottle without mixing it is direct dye and will be gone in no time.

Are you sure she didn't mean she would use Malibu C to remove some of the darker colour you now have and make it brighter again? That makes more sense to me. I cannot understand why any qualified hairdresser would use a direct dye remover to pre-lighten hair and not bleach.

EvangelicalAboutButteredToast · 13/02/2025 19:51

Well I can see why you’re unhappy. The bright copper looks like something out of a magazine and the dull red looks like a box dye.

This also a sat in chair and she said that if I want the colour leave as is and I said yes so we agreed that I will walk out as the first photo again

If your hair is copper in the first pics then she could use a 30 developer to lift and deposit on the root and use a toner or semi to refresh the ends ! Using Malibu c lifts colour and also gets rid of any buildup !
the colour in the last pic looks like it has grabbed because the hair is porous and will wash out very fast as quick as it has grabbed it will wash out ! But the 2 colours are completely different !
go somewhere else (hairdresser here )

So what’s your problem? If you asked for a root touch up it’s never going to look as fresh as the whole head of colour did 3 months ago.

Mydahliasareshit · 13/02/2025 20:07

Were the colour mix bowls accidentally swapped for another customer? Maybe she's trying to style it out to avoid bad reviews.

No worries at all !!
Hopefully you can fix it in the mean time I would clarify shampoo it in fact leave it on put a cap on and rinse this should remove some of the colour even better if u can give it a quick blast with hairdryer and add a towel then u a really good mask put some goodness back ! Repeat as needed
most reds fade ginger copper then go to a different salon and use 1st pic as your inspo x
