have a look at Uniqlo I got some comfy black flannel trousers that looked absolutely fine when I arrived. got some layers a nice polo and heat tech socks from them and was super comfy

Im flying back home, long haul, tomorrow. I wore these going out. Very comfortable and easy to hand wash and dry. I wore them with a boden double layer vest ( don’t need to wear a bra - result!) and a cashmere jumper. Comfy and looks good. Switched the jumper for a lightweight short kimono ( one hundred stars) top at the destination

For long haul flights, comfort is definitely key! I love the idea of wearing wide leg joggers or loose trousers, especially with a soft pull-on bra for added comfort. It’s so important to feel relaxed during the flight. A jersey dress is also a great option, especially for hot destinations—it’s comfy, breathable, and easy to layer. I always take a scarf or light cardigan for the chilly plane air conditioning too. Thanks for all the great ideas—I’m definitely inspired for my upcoming trip! ✈️🌍

I'm going to travel soon, not by plane but a 10h trip that includes many trains, a journey by car, 2 countries, 1 dog, and just one small bag.
Anyway I'm 100% going to wear my joggers, normal, thick cuffed joggers. And I'm going to use them extensively whilst I'm away so its not just for the journey.

I was looking for a long jersey dress but think it's the wrong season as no one had any

Could be worth raiding eBay for a jersey dress. Found some there over the years.

This is my go-to jersey dress for long haul flights:

Very easy to layer with tights, scarf and cardigan. Strip off and pop on a hat to disembark in a hot climate.

Thea Long Sleeve Jersey Dress-Navy

Your favourite Thea dress is ready for the new season. We have added long sleeves to keep you warm on the commute but it still has the waist panel and gently gathered skirt that makes it a dress classic.

I’m really short so I’ve just bought some yoga pants from Pixie Girl, they do a 27” inside leg, which is perfect for me at 5 feet tall. They’re not wide leg and they sit just at the top of trainers, which I’m planning to wear as well as a t.shirt and a hoodie. I’d recommend for those of us shorties who don’t have a massive budget.

I got a jersey midi loose fit black dress from M&S last year. I can't find the same one but it was similar to this although annoyingly this one looks less easy to wear a bra with! I'd wear that with a shirt or sweatshirt over. Or I'd go with bamboo harems like these with a bright white t-shirt (can be cheap just not old/greying to avoid PJ effect!), nice trainers (can be swapped for flip flops at the other end) and either a denim jacket or cardigan/jumper.

On my last long haul flight, I wore a column shaped denim dress. Smart, but comfy, nothing around my waist. I had a cardigan and tights for the flight but the dress was sleeveless and ready to go in the warmer climate where I landed. It's what I'll be wearing for foreseeable.

I would freeze on a plane if I wore something like that. Planes tend to be on the colder side in my experience.

samlovesdilys · 14/02/2025 16:35

I bought these for a long flight last summer for Amazon, they were £15 and super comfy - even better didn't need ironing!!

Have a look at Uniqlo, From jersey dresses with in built bra support or lounge flares and jackets (what I'd choose for long haul), they've got good quality loungewear basics

Femalefootyfan · 14/02/2025 20:10

I probably should have said that I bought the yoga pants to wear on long haul flights next month, although I will be packing Virgin pj’s for our 13+ hour flight from Bali to Istanbul before our 4 hour flight back to Manchester

Same! Coupled with a bralette and a long sleeved Heatgen top from M&S, plus a jumper, even if I'm travelling to Asia. I find planes cold as hell, and the blankets don't do much.

Fifiworks · 15/02/2025 01:18

I’m loving my Halara high waisted wide legs for working from home. Similar idea. They don’t crease, are very elasticated so super comfortable but look smarter than leggings. A nice top, and cashmere jumper to balance the cheap material of the trousers and you’d look great stepping off the plane.

I've seen great things about Halara

Long haul, linen wrap midi skirt (black) with my flight socks underneath 😅

Short sleeve T shirt with a v neck because it feels smarter. An overshirt. And barefoot shoes.

I have some starfish slim leg jersey trousers from Land's End. A bit pricey but very good quality for leggings. Women's Starfish Slim Leg Stretch Jersey Trousers | Lands' End

Absolutely love these! I have 4 pairs and wear them for work. So comfy. She will toast in them when she gets off the plane though .

whatawonderfultime · 15/02/2025 13:21

Make sure what you buy is natural materials like cotton rather than manmade like polyester, because if you're in a plane crash manmade fabrics will melt on to your skin.

MinesaBottle · 15/02/2025 13:28

For long haul I generally wear leggings and a long sleeved top under a jersey dress - last time I wore a midi one from Everlane. All in black for me but that’s what I prefer. Maybe a cardigan over it all as you need layers really. Usually we are going to SE Asia or Australia so I’ll take the long sleeved top off before landing given it’ll be roasting outside the airport. I usually wear merino ones from Cos or Heattech from Uniqlo.

DecafDodger · 15/02/2025 13:47

I just bought this set, but in peacock green. So soft and comfortable, but looks bit more stylish than a regular tracksuit set. Does not wrinkle. I wear it with a merino wool t-shirt. Wool does not get stinky and helps to regulate temperature both in hot or cold climate.

Same here. Fly to SE Asia quite a bit and this is my outfit, All black also, with some accessories to lift it.

Carouselfish · 15/02/2025 14:45

I like wearing a stretchy calf length jumper dress type thing. Doesn't go baggy, retains shapea but totally comfy.
