Are these still a good purchase

I have been wanting to treat myself to these Ugg's. I've seen a lot of people wearing them. It's quite an expensive purchase for me but I want to check with you good MN's if they are still 'in'. I am trying to rehash my wardrobe, go from skinny jeans and boots to bootcut or wide leg jeans and these but have I missed the boat.

(Also I am 47 and worried they may be for a younger person)

Any opinions are welcome - but please be kind, I know I can wear what I want but I don't want to fork out for these if everyone is going to be wearing something more up to date in 6 weeks time.

Apparently skinny jeans are coming back in, so don’t throw yours yet!

HappyNewFeckingYear · 30/01/2025 09:33

Skinny jeans, more drain pipe than jeggings style, are coming back. Judge yours accordingly.

I'd be tempted to go for a dupe of the Uggs (unless they are very easily affordable). Next winter they will just be expensive slippers.

To my eyes the rickrack embellishment on the Uggs is always going to make them look like rather twee slippers rather than louche outdoor wear. Fine for entertaining at home in your best Plumo loungewear though.

I’m in a relatively well dressed city and cool people of all ages are wearing

Furry Birkenstocks

all year round - with thick socks and rolled hem wide jeans right now. They are admittedly much more expensive full price - but they seem always to be available reduced, somewhere.

Definitely don’t think the Uggs would work well with wide legged jeans.

dairydebris · 30/01/2025 09:39

Wear whatever you feel happiest in!

But since you asked, no, Ugg boots are definitely not "in" and definitely will not work with wide or boot leg jeans. Definitely, definitely not.

Bet they're comfy tho.

Yes they do. A lot of models and celebs are wearing uggs with wide leg jeans or bootcut jeans.
i love ugg boots because of how warm and cosy they feel.

And despite being extremely slim and beautiful they all look absolutely terrible in them. In my opinion.

But what do I know? Op should just wear what she wants, as I said!

EternalSunshine19 · 30/01/2025 11:05

@dairydebris You may not think they look good but your original post said "uggs are definitely not in" and "definitely wont work with wide leg or boot cut jeans". I just showed OP that they can be worn like that, and according to Vogue and In style, uggs are "in".

Edited

I actually did look online after your post, and you're totally right!!! Ffs what was I even thinking posting on fashion? Argh!

Op don't listen to me!

That's probably enough internet for me today 😶

Manchesterbythesea · 30/01/2025 11:22

Could you get the standard uggs? You’d get more wear out of them I think. I love mine, must be on my 6th pair since around 2009. So comfy and cosy.

onwardsup4 · 30/01/2025 11:37

I thought uggs were in 🤔 I've (finally) made the transition to wide leg/ flare but wouldn't wear uggs with them it wouldn't feel right.
Have some boots slippers and don't even feel right at home with them I'd wear with leggings though and not care if that was in fashion or not.
In fact really fancy a pair myself now

theressomanytinafeysicouldbe · 30/01/2025 11:45

Thank you for all your replies!

If skinny jeans are coming back in I will stick with them, I had some wider leg jeans arrive today and I looked like I had no arse!

May look at the boot cut again and keep some of my skinnies.

Still unsure about the Ugg Tazz, now i've googled them some more with different style jeans, I should probably look at trainers. I just wanted something casual I could slip on. It's always been trainers or knee length boots with skinny jeans for me, I just can't seem to get away from it.

Maybe I need to go out shopping to the actual high street instead of looking online.

For jeans you love, you have to take your bottom to the jeans.

I went jeans shopping the other week, tried on about a dozen pairs.
too small
too big
that's not what my bum looks like
uncomfy
just wrong
are these designed for the same species
OK
just right
It is a boring and time consuming task, but life has taught me I only wear jeans I like. Luckily there is a wide variety of styles around at the moment.

EllaPaella · 30/01/2025 12:15

Uggs are definitely 'in' and have been for the last couple of years at least. I see loads of people wearing them with baggy jeans. I love them but sadly they never fit me very well do to my very high instep.

Pammeanswhy · 30/01/2025 12:47

I'm an anti Ugg-er, I've always said they make the wearer look like a Teletubbie. However.....I've being forced to eat my own words now. Due to graft surgery on an artery and vein in my ankle, I have been instructed not to wear socks that will compress the area, or ankle socks as the cuff tends to sit around the site of the graft, which is a very fragile area now.

So, off I went in search of something warm to wear in the winter months which I wouldn't need socks with. Upon the advice of my Ugg-loyal friends, I ordered a pair and to my great shame (and delight!), I'm a convert. I ordered these as I thought they looked a little less Teletubbie-esq than other varieties, the stitch detail around the top of the foot gives them a more sturdy look than the regular boots imo, and I'm over the moon with them - they seem to go with most things, although I am a skinny jean wearer most of the time. They are beyond comfortable and toasty warm, and it really does feel as though I am walking on clouds. They weren't cheap, but I've had them water-proofed and with a bit of care, I'm hoping they'll last me a good few years. I'd recommend them, OP:

speakout · 30/01/2025 13:34

I wear a pair of my DDs cast off Uggs. They do have a place, so comfy and warm, but no grip for icy weather.
I don't like any shoe that has a heel or platform sole, those shes you are considering look clumpy and uncomfortable.
When not wearing hiking style boots ( I live in a rural location) then crocs are my next go to.

Whether something is "fashionable" or liked by others is of zero consideration to me.

Newfoundzestforlife · 30/01/2025 13:41

I have some ugg tazzs and haven't worn them out yet because I'm worried they will flop off my feet and I don't know if I should wear socks with them or not, they're comfier without socks but I don't want cold feet 😅
I'm thinking I'll save mine to wear sockless in the Spring.
They're very much still in, everyone in London was wearing them when I was there in November.

XiCi · 30/01/2025 20:12

I think the tazz have had their day and it would put me off that there are so many rip-off identical versions of them around. I'd get the platform ultra minis instead

hby9628 · 30/01/2025 20:22

I dithered over these for 12 months. I caved last autumn. One of my favourite purchases. Yes people take the piss out of me for wearing slippers outdoors. Do I care?? Not one bit!

hby9628 · 30/01/2025 20:24

Oh I wear them with skinny jeans & today I wore socks. I just pretend I can style it out.

Greycatclub · 30/01/2025 20:46

The Tazz were very in demand a year or so ago (constantly out of stock). Less so now, I have some but tbh I can’t bring myself to wear them as shoes 😂 They are lovely though! I have the Goldenstar Clogs which I do wear out and about

QuartzIlikeit · 30/01/2025 20:51

I've got tazz dupes but not the platform ones. They are really comfy and I wear them with my yoga pants more than jeans but they do go with them too.

I got mine from hacoo & they were about £20.

weareallcats · 30/01/2025 20:53

I have them in a terracotta colour - I only really wear them for warmth/comfort and don’t really think too much about whether they are stylish or not. In fact, I recently ended up wearing them with summery dresses and jumpers in a destination that was supposed to be warm, but was having a cold snap while I was there - luckily I wore them on the plane otherwise I’d have had very cold feet! I wear them as slippers on our tiled kitchen floor too (although not on carpet - that is shoes off). If you go for a dupe make sure they are real sheepskin, as this makes a huge difference to the functionality.

Ineedaholidayyyy · 30/01/2025 20:58

I see plenty of people wearing those Ugg Tazz. For wide leg jeans though, I think they are paired best with trainers, new balance are fashionable and really comfy! Great for everyday use

I wear them under a wide leg jean often!

backspace · 30/01/2025 21:27

These uggs are definitely still in. They are only recently back in stock after being sold out everywhere. My daughter spent ages trying to get a pair!
