I think anyone spending that much on earrings must be mad. I always lose one, and there are so many fab cheap earrings around that look just as good as expensive ones.

Not the answer you were looking for I suppose. Sorry for de-railing the thread.

My engagement and wedding rings were from this wonderful lady so I can recommend her work.

I have some mikimoto pearl earrings that were about that price - I adore them. They're stunning and I always get compliments when I wear them.

Mingenious · 23/01/2025 21:19

I’d go to accessorise and buy myself a couple of nice pairs for £30 and would spend £970 on my next holiday.

The gold (rather than vermeil) earrings from this designer https://catherinezoraida.com

Though to be fair the gold vermeil and the silver jewellery is so utterly exquisite that I'd pay less and buy more pieces might have recently spent more than £1000 on a few pieces.

Longhotsummers · 23/01/2025 21:41

I have diamond earrings that cost a little more than that but hardly ever wear them. I have a pair of Claudia Bradby baroque pearl earrings that are much less but wear them all the time.

IHaveAlwaysLivedintheCastle · 23/01/2025 21:43

These- but only in theory or if I were told the money was only available for earrings.

That's not a judgement- just facing the harsh reality that 3 months after buying them I don't need to add yet another single earring to my collection.

Emerald earrings

Edit I do have one pair of Victorian citrine drop earrings in that price range but don't wear them much. They're lovely but I'm scared of losing one. And I'm quite tempted by the ones I posted- maybe if I were really, really careful.

I’d never waste that much money on earrings

pimplebum · 23/01/2025 21:45

I’d be terrified of wearing such expensive earrings

DuesToTheDirt · 23/01/2025 21:54

Ha, so I'm not the only one who always loses one earring!

GivingUpFinally · 23/01/2025 21:54

Diamond studs in a white gold setting if it'll stretch that far.

Here4thechocs · 23/01/2025 21:56

I’d get a few pieces of 22ct gold pieces.

They are fabulous! I’m tempted…..but like you, I have an awful lot of single earrings 🤦‍♀️

Diamond studs … if it’s not solitaires but a cluster of smaller stones the budget might cover it

Or a sapphire/emerald if that’s more your style

What I really would do is spend £10 on lox brand earring backs, which secure them and are really worth it

PS- I spent similar to that (each) on 2 pairs about 15 years ago (when I was richer ! 😂)
If I’m not wearing one it’s the other so worth the money. A diamond cluster and a diamond hoop

Cloakanddagger101 · 24/01/2025 06:47

I fully agree, I’m worried about losing them too! I don’t typically lose earrings unless I don’t put them away properly, which I’d make sure I do.

What is bothering me more though is that I am I trying to find something that expensive that I like, almost for the sake of it.

We returned the earrings my husband got me on our wedding day because it was too much money to waste on earrings I didn’t love. It’s been years and he has just got a massive promotion and pay rise and said he wants to spend his first months extra money (and more) buying me the earrings I never got.

Lovely sentiment but I just don’t see the point unless I found a pair that I love. Hence turning to you guys!

I did suggest I’d prefer to get a watch instead but he said at that price point it’s just a waste of money. We’d be better spending more to get something that will hold its value.

Second the suggestion of Mikimoto pearl earrings. Don't have a set myself but seen a friend wear them and they are stunning!

Re diamond solitaire studs - keep an eye on the sales. I got a pair reduced from £1400 to under £1000 recently. White gold, 0.25 ct each. H clarity so not the whitest but you can’t really tell when they’re in my ears. Of course it does depend on how big you want them to be! I also have a tiny pair I was given for my 18th birthday that are only 0.10 ct between them so these seem much bigger to me.

I'd get either an eternity ring or a tennis bracelet in that case. Go to somewhere like the jewellery quarter in Birmingham and choose something together, then go out for a nice lunch.

lopyrs · 24/01/2025 07:20

I think it would only make sense to spend that if you wear lots of other expensive jewellery and have a wardrobe that matches? Otherwise, it could be random to have a pricey pair of earrings.

But definitely don't buy for the sake of it, is there something else you'd love to mark the occasion? As you say, a watch?

Twodogsonthecouch · 24/01/2025 07:30

I have diamond clusters that would be about that. I got them from my husband for my 50th birthday. I’m nearly 59 now and still wear them nearly every day. Ironically I swap them out for cheap ones sometimes for parties or weddings if I want statement ones. So if I were you I would invest in ones that I could wear every day and get really good backs 😂😂
Mine have been paragliding, snorkelling, hiking, skiing… you name it! I’m calculating it now and it’s at about £3 a wear so have actually probably saved me a fortune in cheaper earrings

Whyherewego · 24/01/2025 07:31

I'd go classic and get diamond studs

ithinkilikethislittlelife · 24/01/2025 07:31

My husband bought me a pair of mikimoto pearl earrings when we had our first baby (12 years ago) and they are the loveliest earrings I own. They have a longish back and the butterfly clicks on so it's secure. I haven't worn them for a while and put them on for my wedding to my dh and they felt amazing all over again.
