Since having my little girl 9 months ago the constant hand washing and washing up has wreaked havoc on my hands!! They're so sore and chapped all the time and nothing really helps. I've tried O Keefes as so many people rave about it but it's not cutting it! The cold isn't helping atm either Confused does anyone have any suggestions for a super hardcore cream? Thank you!

Working hands or palmers coco butter, both very good on my hands which were so sore they bled around the knuckles, try and wear washing up gloves as much as you can.

GatherlyGal · 23/01/2025 19:45

L'Occitane shea butter hand cream. Love it.

SchnitzelvonKrummWithAVeryLowTum · 23/01/2025 19:46

I find the Norwegian formula one with the red lid to be the best when my hands are dry. If they are really bad I put loads of that on with cotton gloves overnight. Seems to sort them out!
Sounds silly but making sure you dry your hands really well after washing can also help. xx

CheshireCats · 23/01/2025 19:47

I second the L'Occitane Shea butter hand cream!

KittenPause · 23/01/2025 19:47

Washing up gloves ?

Dishwasher ?

Lidl has some nice hand creams one is a dupe for L'occitane which which is a lovely rich hand cream

KittenPause · 23/01/2025 19:48

During the day apply cheaper hand creams and use the richer ones at night

ByMerryKoala · 23/01/2025 19:49

I nicked my dh's O'Keeffe's working hands cream once and then never looked back.

NeverDropYourMooncup · 23/01/2025 19:49

If you've got the money, La Roche Cicaplast. If not, get a standard emollient ointment (not a cream).

hotchocdrinker · 23/01/2025 19:49

I really rate Aveeno. I had dreadfully sore and itchy hands and it's great - very easily absorbed and not at all greasy. It's unscented, so I sometimes squeeze some into a small pot and add a drop of essential oil if I want a nice small.

Ukholidaysaregreat · 23/01/2025 19:50

Neutrogena hand cream. It's the best.

SH23B · 23/01/2025 19:51

Clarins hand and nail treatment. I used to do a job that involved washing my hands a lot and they would get very sore and chapped. This sorted it out in a couple of days.

SH23B · 23/01/2025 19:52

It doesn't smell very nice though

Bluestar23 · 23/01/2025 19:53

I'd second the neutrogena with the red lid and working hands.
But also use washing up gloves and try changing your hand soap.
I react to a lot of hand soaps and it can quickly make my hands crack and bleed.
If I use cleaning products without gloves on they react the same.
It has got worse since I had my kids as well.

BearWoman · 23/01/2025 19:56

L'Occitane definitely.

Tooearlytothink · 23/01/2025 20:01

I have the exact same issue since having my DD. Tried so many different ones, applying ridiculous number of times a day to no avail. Then started using this at bedtime and it's been a game changer (smells amazing too!)

Neutragena with red lid is the best. I also have Superdrug intensive in the green-blue tube near the sink. It’s not as intensive as the Neutragena but rubs in well.
DH used to swear by Bodyshop Hemp but not sure they still do it. The tube we have is very old.

Really? I find it has a horrible smell but I still use it because it works.

Blarn · 23/01/2025 20:18

O'keefs working hands but I am also a recent convert to L'occitane Shea Butter one. Amazing.

12345mummy · 23/01/2025 20:24

Body shop Hemp hand cream. It is thick and none greasy. Prior to that I used L’occitane but had better results with Hemp. Another alternative is Epaderm. Recommended by the chemist. Only problem is it comes in a massive pot.

Abitlosttoday · 23/01/2025 20:28

I had the exact same problem. I was definitely overzealous with the hand-washing though, so taking a slightly more laidback approach might help. Beyond that, Epaderm was great for me. Cheap and effective. I still use it for slugging as the last step on my skincare routine each evening.

hotchocdrinker · 23/01/2025 20:28

@IMustDoMoreExercise it's funny how some 'unscented' creams smell to some people. I find Aveeno fine, but if you don't, do try and add a drop of essential oil - I usually use lavender. I really don't like the smell of Epaderm (which is apparently 'unscented')!

Fawn87 · 23/01/2025 20:29

Weleda skin food.

Ilovemyshed · 23/01/2025 20:40

I really like Rituals. Also a bit of Vaseline on cuticles

Bucket07 · 23/01/2025 20:44

I'll add to the multitude of recommendations for the neutrogena Norwegian formula with the red lid. It's a bit sting-y if your hands are really sore but it passes quickly.

Time40 · 23/01/2025 20:44

Gloves. Rubber gloves. Every single time.
