Help identifying gorgeous full-length camel coat pls

I saw a woman wearing an absolutely gorgeous coat a few days ago, I really wish I'd asked her where it was from but it was at the self-checkout and everyone was hurrying- plus it might have been a bit weird, really.

It was a full-length coat definitely not 3/4, and looked very expensive. The colour was a caramel or tan colour, not a paler shade of camel but warm.

It caught my eye that the material was not that kind of wool with a pile but more woven in texture. The material looked heavy, not like the thin coats which are around at the moment (which can also be nice). It was plain.

Does this ring any bells for anyone? Thanks 🙂

Maxmara?

coatwoat · 02/01/2025 15:06

Thanks, having a look now. Edit: as I've searched for Maxmara coats, which look absolutely stunning, this one from Nobody's Child came up and the shade and the texture of the material seems to fit though I don't remember if it was belted or not, I think it was probably open. I don't look good in belted coats, personally, anyway.

Shame it is only wool mix for over £200.

What was the fastening like? Was it single or double breasted dis have a belt?

coatwoat · 02/01/2025 15:19

I didn't see, honestly. The main identifying feature is the texture of the wool, so now I'm thinking it was the Nobody's Child one, though I felt it looked very expensive i could have been wrong. Oh well- it just shows you have to ask in these situations.

Edited

I’m shocked this is mostly polyester for over £200! If it looked expensive, it was probably a better quality wool or higher % wool mix

Lovethatforyouhun · 02/01/2025 15:33

This coat is a rip off. Id expect more wool for that price point, should be £100-£130.

It looks great though!

Onthetubetoday · 02/01/2025 15:38

Max Mara as mentioned above or Livia from Hobbs. Reiss also have a lovely camel coat in stock. Nobody’s Child isn’t high quality so if it was as high quality as you thought, more likely to be one of the above brands or a less common one. The Max Mara ones are near or above the 1k mark and Hobbs/Reiss between 3-400.

coatwoat · 02/01/2025 15:47

Yes, it looked more expensive than the Nobody's Child one, though as I say that's the right shade and texture. Knowing the economics of my area, I wonder if someone would wear a £500+ coat to Sainsbury's, though? You never know, though, I guess with it being New Year's Eve people could have been on their way to an event. But Hobbs/Reiss is probably more likely, on balance.

This texture is what caught my eye, I feel it's the same or very similar:

I have a very long camel Karen Millen coat in that texture. Not the style you describe but could check their online shop.

Lovethatforyouhun · 02/01/2025 16:52

Hmm this has a similar texture

I have a Gerard Darel long wool coat from last year that is similar fabric and colour to that. It's definitely belted though. I can't find it online unfortunately and it was more than £500 full price. Reiss has loads similar.

This one isn’t belted, but heavy and long. I have it in navy

Joseph?

I have a very similar one from Jaeger . £70 from Vinted, complete with tags !

Thanks, I mean I was only speculating about the cost. It did look expensive so more than 500 is possible. You don't hear Gerard Darel mentioned much but I have a beautiful skirt from that brand. I've never had the occasion to wear it though 😔

Wow, good spot on the texture! And what you've linked is a similar style, too. Just the colour is wrong but they are interesting to look at.

Karen Millen in there expensive range have a few around the £1000 mark. Also I the cheaper range too

EcruCardigan · 02/01/2025 21:00

68% recycled polyester is not going to be gorgeous.

coatwoat · 02/01/2025 21:54

OMG, it could be! It's so difficult to say definitively but it's the right colour and has that texture I noticed. And it's the kind of thing that would be striking vs. everyday, run-of-the-mill coats. Thank you so much. That's a beautiful coat, regardless of whether that was it or not 😍

i have this one from Toteme (didn’t pay anywhere near full price for it!) which looks similar to those above

This is another possibility:

I'm loving all the beautiful coats on the thread, anyway, even if Maxmara is out of my price range.
