I have set up a new Toastie thread, guys.

@ToastCosILoveIt - if it has a collar, it would be even better for me! Thanks so much!

PeonyBlush10 · 27/01/2025 16:40

Any feedback about the pleated skirts in duffle green and/or navy from anyone would be much appreciated.
I tried the smock in brick but it’s going back. It feels shapeless and a bit non descript on my body proportions. The material feels a bit thin too - it is undoubtedly a lovely cotton/colour/with cute button detail but it felt a little over priced. Even if it suited me I’m not sure I would have kept it based on cost alone.

ScottishMouse · 27/01/2025 16:56

@ToastCosILoveIt @faustina sorry to hop on your quilted jacket chat, just wondering if it has navy check lining, from maybe 3 years ago? I bought that one at the time but didn’t keep it, and kind of regret sending it back. It’s lovely. I might be interested if @faustina isn’t.

neveradullmoment99 · 27/01/2025 18:45

So I had ordered the green cord jumpsuit that came back in stock to try some day last week, think it was late Wednesday. No dispatch email come Friday so I suspected they were oos. So I went on to the chat which confirmed it.
AIBU to be really annoyed that when they refunded me today the message read

Your order was cancelled because of unforseen circumstances and your payment has been refunded.

Unforseen circumstances? If I had not known it was OOS I would be really confused and annoyed at this reason. Why couldn't they just say out of stock and apologies for this?

Almost makes me want to not order again.

faustina · 27/01/2025 19:34

That's not great @neveradullmoment99 . It sounds like the person didn't know what was going on. No need to be so cloak and dagger like that!

Have you used their back in stock notification thing? I did several times during the sale and it was very useful. Hope you find one soon

ToastCosILoveIt · 27/01/2025 20:18

@PeonyBlush10 , the skirts are elasticated waist so there is a tiny bit of gathering at the waste. Having said that. I do think they're quite flattering. I'll be wearing cropped jumpers and tops with them so the waistband will be hidden and the top will fall to the flat bit but just above/on the pleat. In the end it will be a very personal thing and you'll have to try one on, but I think they're a good cut and fit.

Hi @ScottishMouse , yes, I think that's the one. I'll tag you both when I post photos. It will be Saturday now as I'm away from home x

ScottishMouse · 27/01/2025 21:00

Thanks @ToastCosILoveIt

Yes, feel they could have just said that it went out of stock!! I'm not too bothered about getting it tbh.

whinsome · 28/01/2025 08:59

@PeonyBlush10 The wrap arrived on Saturday and it's been my constant companion in the house! So soft and warm - and even stays put when I wrap it over my shoulder. Lovely. Thanks for the recommendation and don't worry about my no spend, that's all on me, and justified by this hopefully lasting me for a decade or two. I did note (after I'd been wearing it all day) that it's dry clean only. A gentle cold water hand wash should be fine, shouldn't it?

And joining in the old clothes from Toast chat - so many of mine have lasted for years.

I have a pair of wide legged dungarees that I've been wearing for at least 8 years.

A navy wrap cotton wool cardigan which I think was my first full price purchase from 10 years? ago. It's not the most flattering (big bust) but I love it and have worn it at least once a week (often quite a bit more) since I bought it. It's only the other month that the seams under one of the arms went so I need to send that off to be mended soon.

Then there's a grey woollen mix shift thing which might've been my first purchase ever - at those lovely 70% off sales - its definitely housewear now but I still reach for it occasionally and enjoy wearing it when I do.

And a vee-neck nearly black cotton sleeveless dress that I've had for 9? years and that still gets worn.

While there are many Toast clothes that I wear for years and years, they are balanced by the ones that I've bought, mostly in the sales, which never get worn for one reason or another!

Popplebop · 28/01/2025 13:17

In the spirit of old loved Toast clothes... here are very elderly black cords. Probably about 2015😳 Ish. Waist is mid rise and slightly snugger on me than it was when bought. Wide legs but I had to chop some hem off. The blue knitted top is maybe 2018/19? Certainly more than a few years old. Under top is M&S. Apologies for the teenage room background!

Found myself near Toast this morning so decided I would try the lovely pleated skirt again. I confirmed it isn’t for me. Sometimes I need a second try to rule something out completely! But it will be so beautiful on others.
Staff said there would be a loungewear & menswear drop at the end of this week, and a womenswear drop at the end of Feb/beg march.
Today I am enjoying wearing my new-to-me navy poncho. I managed to mend it with an attempt at Swiss darning, stuck it in the freezer for 10 days, and it is looking great over a white (non-Toast) shirt, with indigo alix & the ember bandana. Can’t wait until it is warm enough to wear it out without squishing it under a coat.

Stravaig · 28/01/2025 15:49

Jumpsuit lovers! I just had an email about this denim jumpsuit. I don't know anything about the brand, or this specific style, but thought the cut looked longer than some, possibly of interest to the longer-bodied folks here?

@ScottishMouse In admiration of your Swiss darning rescue 😍

ScottishMouse · 28/01/2025 16:16

@Stravaig i’d really like to learn how to Swiss darn properly. I tried to follow a YouTube video and it was only semi-successful, but thankfully not noticeably so as I used a very similar colour.

mizu · 28/01/2025 17:03

@Stravaig oh I like that elasticated back.

mizu · 28/01/2025 17:04

It's from Gather and See - funnily enough I've just unsubscribed from them! Was doing a cull of junk email. I must have been looking at their site at some point and signed up to something.

Stravaig · 28/01/2025 21:10

@mizu That's what caught my eye too, reminds me of an old boiler suit I used in the workshop. Although that was men's fit only from the local farming/ industrial supply store, and cost about £10!

mizu · 29/01/2025 12:52

Anyone got this dress? Am tempted.

Exciting! Mushrooms and ladders and small objets are OUT, we are now inexplicably carrying large colourful abstract shapes! Summer is on the way :)

In the background is a very good looking denim coat 😍 (and I don't even wear denim).

Hi, could someone confirm when is the next Toast sale? I'm after a pair of their trousers but refuse to pay £250 pounds, many thanks!

Stravaig · 29/01/2025 16:44

Who's going to be the first to try this?

Only if I get to play goal defence and wear proper tracksuit bottoms with my Toast netball bib.
