Stylish boots for cold Euro citybreak?

NeitherStylishnorBeautiful · 28/12/2024 10:52

Would love recommendations please for comfortable ankle boots I can wear for a northern European citybreak in a few weeks time. Probably black, stylish and able to be worn with wide leg trousers or jeans while walking around cold streets for hours, but also ideally work inside/evenings. Even better if they don’t look awful with a dress or skirt. And bonus points if on a sale somewhere.
Am I asking for the moon on a stick?!
I was on another citybreak a few weeks ago and wore more fashiony clumpy ankle boots intending them to work for both day and evening, they rubbed painfully at toes and heel and I ended up buying emergency trainers halfway through. As this next break looms closer I’m just realising I need to be better prepared. Good boot socks that don’t fall down also on the wish list.
thanks in advance.

Those boots look great.

I've got some Chelsea boots from Fly which are very comfortable but don't know if I can post the link

Hskatkat · 29/12/2024 17:03

Fly London salv (?) boots are pretty comfy you can buy them on Amazon and sometimes get a great bargain

Frangywangywoowah · 29/12/2024 17:03

I bought some boots from M and S recently for a similar brief. Black, patent, soft sole but a bit of a brogue stitch. Will see if link works. I woke them all day in a city, wore them with jeans and a dress too.

Darn...can't see them but there is a very similar laced version that looks good.

Rina66 · 29/12/2024 17:05

I searched using the name, love them but I can't keep undoing laces! I've got a zip up leather chunky ankle boot from Next £65, they also come in black

If you have the M&S app on your phone you (I) can't seem to do links
Pavers can be good for boots they also have some designs that are not my taste, but have great returns

lanadelgrey · 29/12/2024 17:08

If you want to wear them later in not so freezing weather, get thermal insoles and make sure they can hide an extra pair of socks below the ankle - furry insoles are great for Northern European weather. And if it’s snowy then it’s perfectly ok to change into something elegant when you arrive at the restaurant, theatre of whatever

Hskatkat · 29/12/2024 17:09

@Rina66 your link just goes the app store maybe a screenshot then ppl can Google lens ?

LadyGreySpillsTheTea · 29/12/2024 17:14

I live in a northern European city that can get quite nippy in winter and I wouldn't be buying those Clarks boots - they’re not lined for one thing. Your feet would be literally freezing. They need to have a sole at least an inch thick too. What I’ve found works best while also looking fairly stylish with various clothes is Timberland-style boots. Deichmann is surprisingly good for these, I have a pair from there that are on their third winter, with a black fake suede exterior - try looking for the black faux fur lined lace-up boot at 44.99. They can be worn with trousers or dresses, but you can only wear dresses with extremely thick tights or leggings because you’d be too cold otherwise. For socks I just use two pairs of ski socks or hiking socks, so my winter boots tend to be a size larger than in summer.

Sorry @Hskatkat

These are what I wear, possibly not stylish enough but they are very warm and I can walk for miles in them. I originally bought them in black but they are so comfy I've now bought a red pair for dog walking

I have these in brown. Successfully did long weekends in London and Prague in them.

Hskatkat · 29/12/2024 17:31

I too have them :) inky blue but can't wear them anymore since surgery think I've worn them twice at most.
