Is anyone else doing a project pan in 2025?

Project pan (i.e. using up makeup and skincare products you already own)...I've been doing this a while now trying to get my stash down to a more reasonable level. I keep having to remind myself i only have 1 face and resist sales, new product launches etc. I do weirdly get satisfaction every time I fully use up a product. I'm planning to continue in 2025, anyone doing similar?

I am trying to use some of my make-up as part of a bigger declutter. I've already done quite well but I could do with picking an eyeshadow palette and see how far I can get through it before getting bored.

BlackSwan · 25/12/2024 13:16

I should join you. Will be interesting to see how long I last!

But if I run out of my moisturiser I will buy another. Should be good until March at least.

inigomontoyahwillcox · 25/12/2024 13:22

Oh you know what I did recently - took all the lipsticks I've used down to the "tube" (or however you'd describe the bottom bit), scraped out the copious amount of product that's left in the tube and put it in a container - I actually ended up just using a weekly pill organiser to put them in, each box is the perfect size and it was only about £1.50 (was about the same price for each mini pot).

lindyloo57 · 25/12/2024 14:55

I'm doing a new-year no make, creams until I runout, I managed to sell a bundle of lightly used make up on ebay, so got my stash down to what I only like/ use, I did order on next sale site a benefit blush set half price, so hopefully this will be the only make up I buy in 2025 as the delivery is in early January, and I have back ups of my favourite cc cream and brown eye liner.

Emanwenym · 25/12/2024 16:18

I need to be ruthless (but won't be). What amazes me is how quickly I go through the stuff I like using. 50 ml moisturiser seems to only last a few weeks but if it's something like a lipstick I'm not keen on it festers.

LunaTheCat · 25/12/2024 17:21

Yep, have started doing this.
Lipsticks I love but making myself use them all up … being realistic that as I age skin tone changes and that I am much braver with brighter colours and they suit me so all the once beloved neutrals aren’t beloved anymore!
I did threw out an eyeshadow palette because I wasn’t using and too glittery… had had 5 yrs.
Found another palette which have gone back too. I love Anastasia eyebrow mascara which I will replace when I run out of.
i did buy some new tinted moisturiser ( don’t use foundation) because my current one has got to the “cut the tube open” stage .. you usually easily get another 4-6 weeks of tint though!

treeistree · 25/12/2024 17:41

I love this, I have recently put all my products in one large bag and take it with me in shower to try use stuff up and dig through it every morning to see what I can put on!

Cyclingmummy1 · 25/12/2024 18:25

I'm starting the year with only one quarterly subscription and plan to use up everything I have before buying anything more. Honestly don't think I'll need anything except tinted moisturiser until at least July. But we'll see 😆

Jellycatrabbit · 25/12/2024 19:38

I spent a lot of time watching beauty YouTube in 2012-2015, my stash reflected that - I've been determinedly panning since 2016. I too only have one face.

I gave away a lot of blush and eyeshadow pallets this year (just cheap ones) and have a usable amount of most things, but still a huge backlog of lipstick and nail varnish, both of which I rarely wear.

New Years Resolution is to get better at skincare, but I need to do it without just buying loads of stuff! I has a skincare Advent calendar this year which I enjoyed, but I really must work through it all before buying new.

I have a Bobbi Brown blusher I bought in 2006, I'm really torn as to whether I bin it or keep it to pan. It's a powder blush and still looks and smells fine, I've never actually used it. It was my first branded beauty purchase!

wheresmyshoe · 25/12/2024 19:54

Yes, the thread posted earlier has been great motivation to use up 100 products in 2024 and I'm aiming for the same in 2025.

Mill3nniel · 25/12/2024 19:57

I don't have nearly as much as I used to as I threw loads away but I'm interested in doing this and love adding things to my list that I've finished

dayslikethese1 · 26/12/2024 12:02

I'm down to 2 cleansers plus a mini micellar. I went a bit mad on lip products this year, too many lipglosses and lipsticks. Did a reccy of my bathroom last night and realised I have many backup shower gels and shampoos so don't need to buy any more for ages (I don't even have that much hair, lol). Normally January I do a bit of a restock and buy some treats as well since it's dark and miserable but this year I'm just going yo dip into what I have. I'm sure I can find a makeup product in I haven't even tried 😅

I'm more ruthless and ditched all mine in November and bought fresh, including brushes. Then for my birthday my mum bought me the Number 7 advent calendar so I am overflowing again. Definitely only replacing things this year though. I already needed a new brow gel and ordered it this morning. I restocked with Elf so it's affordable.n

teacoffeeorpassthegin · 26/12/2024 12:08

I'm in! I have a real issue with just trying this and that!! I have enough stuff for ages and really need to use it up!

I think I need to be ruthless with some of the old stuff but I have plenty of new 🤦🏼‍♀️

There was a thread a few years back called something like Product Junkies, and the best thing about it was that loads of photos of products were uploaded. And the true Product Junkies amongst us could ape at the stashes and hoards, then ask a million questions about product usage and experience. Would anyone care to share some stash pictures? Purely to help us all along <she says> Grin

Gonnagetgoingreturnsagain · 26/12/2024 15:25

I’m doing that now. About a year ago I used up a Dior Hologlam blush.

Most things now I use up quite easily and either replace or if discontinued try to find another. Eyeshadow palettes are harder to use up.

Darklane · 26/12/2024 15:47

I need to do this. I reckon I shouldn’t need to buy anything for the next ten years 😳

Emanwenym · 26/12/2024 16:15

Eyeshadow palettes are harder to use up. but it's easy to use up the one or two you actually use. Smile

But I don’t use them on a daily basis…

teacoffeeorpassthegin · 26/12/2024 20:29

I have palettes but there's always one that disappears first and I'm left with the other bits. It's so annoying

HorribleHisTories15 · 28/12/2024 13:42

I should probably declare that I am solely here due to my hair products. I have an embarrassingly large number of shampoos, conditioners and also hair masks. Anyone with type 4 hair or 3 hair may wholeheartedly understand. I am only planning on buying a few leave ins and then finishing up what I do have. 🤞🏿

If you have one perfect one colour pot, you just use it then replace it when it's about to run out.

Use the conditioners up by co-washing.
My hair is wavy not curly though, but I had ended up with far too many bottles of different products.

XiCi · 28/12/2024 15:07

I'm in. I have do many products I need to use up. I'm going to try this with clothes as well. I keep buying and have so many I just hardly wear!
