small crossbody bag

I would like a small crossbody bag that looks good for going out in the evening. Small enough just for a phone, small set of keys, and smart enough to wear when dressed up. I have a smart clutch bag but hate carrying it around but the ones I seem to pick out are all a bit casual.

I'm just not good at knowing what looks good in bags which I don't mind for the daytime, but just occasionally I feel I should look dressed up/like a grown up! Any ideas?

What sort of budget?

I have got some of my favourite dressier crossbody bags from Zara, Oliver Bonas and Mulberry. Vastly different price points but definitely used frequently.

Not silly money, but was going to get my DH to get it for christmas. I'm always reluctant to spend money on bags but I think I need to invest in a good bag.

I got a nice one from Oliver Bonas - the strap is detachable so you can switch it up to go with your outfit.

This would be perfect for you - simple and elegant design, strap length can be adjusted and it can be used as just a clutch too. Very good craftsmanship as well.

I have the leather silver one from disco kids. It’s a nice size. I ado have a MacBook London one I like but for evening prefer silver.

Have you looked at Lisa Angel and Ollie and Nic? (I can’t find my one, but lots of similar smart crossbody styles)

Honestly? A cross body bag never looks dressy. Practical yes for out and about in the daytime and you have your hands free, but if you’re dressed up the cross body strap will spoil your outfit no matter how nice the bag.

I got a small top handle bag for evening use. Or a shoulder bag with a short strap would work too.

I know what you mean, but I'm a nightmare for losing stuff so a bag you have to hold in your hand just drives me nuts and I end up leaving it under a table. If it was a really dressy event, I've got a little smart clutch bag, so it's more just going out (Christmas events etc) when I don't want to leave my stuff unattended, but I don't want to take my bigger bag that I use most of the time.

Oliver Bonas have some great cross body bags. I use one and then take the strap off and use it as a clutch bag if I’m going out in the evening.
