Holland & Barrett advent calendar opening thread

OchonAgusOchonOh · 30/11/2024 10:50

This is the thread for daily opening of the H&B advent calendar. As with all the threads, the only firm rule is not discussing a drawer's contents before the day. The usual timeline is no spoilers before 7am but we can agree a different time if people want to.

Let the games begin!!!!

I think it is because it is my birthday today so when I saw anti aging I knew I was going to need it 😂😂😂

I’m also the target market (my 50th was last year), but I do question why they print the label in such tiny unfriendly writing! Also I don’t have dry skin, so it may be too much for me.

Completely agree. I opened it when I got up and all I could figure out was that it was a jar of stuff. If you're aiming for an older market, make the writing big enough so that they can at least read the headlines.

Now that I know what it is, I'm pleased with it 😁

Happy birthday! I didn’t realise it was actually today - glad you got a good one on your birthday!

Roundaboot · 08/12/2024 09:38

Happy Birthday @bizzey and @narniabusiness is it yours too?
I'm really pleased with today's. This is one of the more premium brands that H&B stock and it's lovely to get a decent size.
Looks ideal for my late 40s dry skin too!

I agree with the packaging comment.
I am looking forward to trying it. Last night i opened up to the 12th because I'm going away for a few days. I was pleasantly surprised, it's a good few days and makes up for the slow start

skilpadde · 08/12/2024 13:20

Today's does seem to have a bit of eau de stinky feet when you sniff it in the pot. Hopefully it won't be noticeable when used.

greywolfie · 08/12/2024 14:55

I used the cream today after my weekly face mask. My skin feels very soft but it feels 'heavy'. I'll definitely use it at night as I prefer a lighter feel in the morning.
I'm in the target age range!

Happy birthday! I opened it this morning and gave it a smell and it doesn't smell the greatest (in comparison to the other products!) roll on tomorrow!

Wow, I had no idea the brand was worth that much! That works out more than my Dermalogica creams! I used it this morning and I really like it; it has kept my skin feeling hydrated all day.

sharpclawedkitten · 08/12/2024 21:03

Wow that's almost worth the cost of the calendar on its own.

Roundaboot · 08/12/2024 21:13

I do think that H&B is one of the best value calendars.

ChannelLightVessel · 08/12/2024 22:55

Happy Birthday @bizzey (all 6 minutes of it left)! Hope you’ve had a lovely day Xmas Smile

Definitely. Dd got it twice then they stopped doing it in Ireland for a few years after brexit so I was delighted to see it back again. I'm really enjoying it.

Oh wow ok well selfishly I'll be keeping that for myself then and use as a night cream (I hardly use cream at night but will start!)

Yes definitely, I didn't get it last year and was gutted and this year it kept saying it was OOS and I was genuinely distraught but one morning at 5am it was there and I got it ! So so pleased it's the little joys this year round...I know it's only 650am but today's is another product I haven't used or seen before 30ml Balmonds Super7 serum? Anyone else tried this?

bizzey · 09/12/2024 06:57

Ohhh @Roxie99 ...you little devil , posting what it is before 7 am 😂!!

I have been awake since my annoying 5.30 am toilet trip that is becoming a bit too routine for my liking !

I have been sat /lying on bed waiting.

I now know how those little toddlers feel when they are told they can't get up yet , and to wait for their special clock to show them when they can get up !! 😂😂...

I am awake and raring to go....but I am concerned I will make noise and wake ds up who doesn't need to be up today 😂😂

CordeliaNaismithVorkosigan · 09/12/2024 07:17

Never heard of today’s brand, but I like serums so very willing to try this one. Can’t quite believe how much yesterday’s costs - it suggests this is a good value calendar even if that product isn’t for me.

One of my absolute favourite bath products was a H&B discovery a few years ago- the Weleda arnica muscle soak. I’ve bought it multiple times since then.

Roundaboot · 09/12/2024 07:29

Oh yes, that muscle soak is lovely! I've repurchased that too.
The only product I've had from this brand is some eczema balm! This looks good, always up for a hydrating serum

tellmewhenthespaceshiplandscoz · 09/12/2024 08:02

Oooh todays looks fancy ... Grin

tellmewhenthespaceshiplandscoz · 09/12/2024 08:07

Ok so I've double checked and the £40 I said for yesterday's was based on the 60ml not 30ml.

Sorry folks as I'd for us all excited!

However that's still a value of £20 which isn't as awesome but I guess just under half the cost of the entire calendar.

Sorry again Confused

OchonAgusOchonOh · 09/12/2024 08:27

I think we can forgive @Roxie99 for the early post😁

Very pleased with today's too. I love a good serum.

narniabusiness · 09/12/2024 08:32

Another product that looks good. It sounds just what I need. Dry, fragile, depleted skin here, ready to be made soft, supple and healthy as promised.
I also loved the Weleda bath soak. I think the rather medicinal name would have put me off buying it, but it’s a wonderful product and I’ve repurchased several times.

sharpclawedkitten · 09/12/2024 08:36

Ah I got the serum on 6th because I opened the wrong box. It looks good.
