Can’t believe I’ve just ordered cordrouy trousers!

From M and S, and in brown!

Yes, I’m fell for all the ‘cords are in’ hype and just ordered some cord flare trousers from M and S in ‘bitter chocolate’. I went in store intending to get the reddish wide leg pair, but then saw brown pair and thought I’d get more use out of them, and liked the flare style better than wide leg (which aren’t too wide leg).

(Ordered because wanted to compare long and regular pair, and both sizes weren’t in store last night at Bluewater, else I would have brought them there).

Don’t think I’ve worn cords since the 70 s!

Only last week I was thinking where all the corduroy had gone. Thought it was now a past thing like the Krankies, Spangles, and the word "wazzock".

I've ordered Seasalt straight ones so fingers crossed they fit.

Which ones did you order @Sayoonara?

I have the Crackington ones. They fit slightly on the large side, but I can confirm that they don't shrink in length.

I got these ones, the "Heald" ones.

Review seem to complain they are a bit wide on the legs, but that will probably be fine for me, I don't have slim legs.

I like the look of the ones you have too, i didn't actually see them when I was shopping. I'd like the cropped wide leg ones but they wouldn't suit me.

I love cord trousers and dungarees

Sorry if already discussed but what footwear goes with wide legged full-length black cords?

I wear mine with purple DM suede clogs but accept that's not to everyone's taste 😂 others I wear with cream DM boots or various pairs of trainers

suburburban · 17/11/2024 19:30

I've ordered the navy wide legs, hoping they won't be too long in petite

Jk987 · 17/11/2024 19:32

They seem so ugly and frumpy to me!

suburburban · 17/11/2024 19:33

Bring on the frumpiness

Gowlett · 17/11/2024 19:36

M&S cords are great. I have a few colours!

I just had to look up purple dm suede clogs, as I didn’t know such things existed!

@Fireworknight they were a Mother's Day present from my DD, I love them 😍

DustyMaiden · 17/11/2024 21:48

I wore brown cords on my first date with DH size 6 . It was 1978 think I’ve gone up a size for every decade.

Sidebeforeself · 17/11/2024 21:53

I love cords but I always feel dumpy in them

I kinda know what you mean by ‘feeling dumpy’ . Being a pear shape, I hope the flare on the ones I chose will give enough shape to get over that feeling.

Just bought a lovely pair of Next wide leg dark brownish black ones on Vinted.
I might have to take them up and in a bit as they are slightly too long and wide. Easy enough to do with cords though. They are high waisted and fit on my true waist really well. Very comfy and warm. Much nicer than denim for winter.

AnImaginaryCat · 21/11/2024 23:38

I hope you lnow you are obliged to dance around to the sound of your corduroy flares when they arrive.

(What do I do now? by Sleeper always enters my head when corduroy flares are mentioned!!)

suburburban · 22/11/2024 10:23

Didn't like the wide legged ones, they were too bell bottom on me

Deathraystare · 22/11/2024 10:32

Funnily enough only this morning I was thinking about getting some corduroy trousers!

GaladrielHiggins · 22/11/2024 11:57

I tried the straight leg M&S cords but they were too tight in the leg for me ( unlike the straight jeans which are fine). I’m not stylish enough for the wide leg cords so I tried on the men’s cords and they are a lovely fit and really deep pockets!

Floisme · 22/11/2024 13:03

Mine are second hand Toast, mid brown and wide leg. Right now I'm very happy but, at the back of my mind, there's an uneasy memory of corduroy not ageing well, of it going straight from soft and slouchy to saggy and droopy. Anyone else? If not I'll bugger off as I don't want to spoil the fun.

I'm not sure but I wore my Seasalt ones for the first time yesterday. They fitted perfectly when I put them on then within an hour were starting to stretch out and slide off me. Must admit I've not had cord trousers since i was a kid, so didn't know this was a thing.

Anyway, doubled down on my mistake and bought another pair in a smaller size, I figure at some point in my life I'll get fatter and wear the other pair.

Not sure about longevity, I've had cord jackets that have worn well.

I’m in my thirties and would love to rock cords! Only problem is that I don’t have the ideal body shape for them.

MamguWeatherwax · 22/11/2024 13:58

Just bought some cords this morning off the back of this thread. I've been looking for trousers that are warmer than jeans and the cords felt so comfortable. Got the M&S grey straight leg. I think I might order some more online (they didn't have any others in stock). I'm torn between the beige and the navy though and not sure which one to go for.

RedRiverShore5 · 23/11/2024 12:34

I bought some nice wide cords from WhiteStuff in khaki this week, I tried on regular length and they were actually long enough, I usually need longer 32-33 inch leg, though a lot of wider cords are long, I think they are meant to bag and drag on the floor a bit to be fashionable though
