Yes, I’m fell for all the ‘cords are in’ hype and just ordered some cord flare trousers from M and S in ‘bitter chocolate’. I went in store intending to get the reddish wide leg pair, but then saw brown pair and thought I’d get more use out of them, and liked the flare style better than wide leg (which aren’t too wide leg).

(Ordered because wanted to compare long and regular pair, and both sizes weren’t in store last night at Bluewater, else I would have brought them there).

Don’t think I’ve worn cords since the 70 s!

I’ve got those in the rust colour and I adore them. They’re SO comfy that they feel like joggers.

wear with a denim shirt, navy sweatshirt or white tee and navy cashmere. Always with trainers.

No, these are the ones I went for. I admit the pockets are a little strange, but I liked the shape better (and a jumper will hide the pockets).

It was a close call though.

The dark claret was gorgeous in the wide leg trousers.

Yep, that's the ones I had. The front pocket seams ripped away from the cord.

I've got red,purple,olive green and TARDIS blue.
Warm,comfy and practical for school. I wear them with a silky shirt and DMs.
Unfortunately at 50 ,I've still not been whisked away in the TARDIS whilst teaching .
My Sixth Formers always say ' Maybe today ' when I wear my blue ones.

Bloody patch pockets, I hate them.

I got a great tapered pair from Topshop. Haven't bought anything from there for years but the quality is actually pretty good. Am on the lookout for me but only straight leg. I had flared cords when I was 15 and can't bring myself to wear the same fashion again!

M and S had a few different styles.

Loving the cord chat. I have a forest green cord top, a burnt orange skirt, and 5 pairs of trousers including a burnt orange, a very soft dusty rose, a true brown, a greenish brown and a very dark tan. I love them all!

Ooh, timely thread. Been hunting for a nice pair of cords for a couple of weeks now. Looking forward to your suggestions. I'm also liking the OP's pick. Just gutted that they don't have the dark claret option in my size anymore.

I've just received a pair of these north face cords. They look good quality and a cool style but will have to go back due to the size not being right. At the moment I'm between sizes, more 12 than 10, but because they've sold out of 12 I went with 10, hoping for the best. It turned out that 10 is too big!? So if anyone likes these be advised to size down.

I bought those earlier this autumn, in brown too, I've been living in them! Comfy but not very well fitting around the bum for me so not all that flattering.

What tops do people find work/look smart with wide leg cords?

@ChickNorris I’ve discovered, if something goes out of stock on the M and S site, look the next morning as stock levels seem higher then, and there’s a lot more choice (not sure if this applies on Sundays).

I had a pair of dark purple/red flared cords as a teenager in the early 2000’s very tempting to try some! I’m a fan of the chocolate wide leg ones. Only reason I haven’t ordered is my card details aren’t coming up on the app and I can’t be bothered to find my card 🤣

I impulse bought the wide leg brown ones, love them so much I got the navy too.

Had to post because I am a geography teacher and I am loving people honouring my profession with this look 🤣 . I also wear tweed jackets to work (but not with leather patches).

I haven't worn cords in years. My last pair were burgundy boot cut ones in the late nineties. They really were lovely, but I hated the way bits of fluff and other assorted debris stuck to them like glue.

I have some lovely burgundy wide leg cords from M&S for this season. And a sand coloured cord dress from Cos.

My favourite ones are olive green from Sainsbury's last year, always get compliments on the colour.
