Can’t believe I’ve just ordered cordrouy trousers!

From M and S, and in brown!

Yes, I’m fell for all the ‘cords are in’ hype and just ordered some cord flare trousers from M and S in ‘bitter chocolate’. I went in store intending to get the reddish wide leg pair, but then saw brown pair and thought I’d get more use out of them, and liked the flare style better than wide leg (which aren’t too wide leg).

(Ordered because wanted to compare long and regular pair, and both sizes weren’t in store last night at Bluewater, else I would have brought them there).

Don’t think I’ve worn cords since the 70 s!

Got mine from M&S last week. Really annoyed with myself because I thought I’d ordered the flared, but ended up with straight leg which aren’t as nice. Will have to return I think, I chose the olive green which is a lovely colour.

I bought a pair from Lucy & Yak last year & I live in them. So comfy

MugPlate · 16/11/2024 09:33

They’re…a winter staple for many people?

HarrietBond · 16/11/2024 09:35

I adore cords. I’m so pleased they are in at the moment with so much choice. I’ve got a wide leg pair in a dark orange from Uniqlo that I love and will be haunting the sales for other pairs to give me a stash for when they disappear again.

dudsville · 16/11/2024 09:35

Has corduroy ever not been "in"?

HarrietBond · 16/11/2024 09:38

You can usually buy them from the same regular retailers but limited choice of style and colour. The 70s styles that are everywhere at the moment mean loads more to try. M&S for years have sold them every winter for example but only with their horrible patch pockets on.

Yes, but didn’t have ‘long’ in brown, only other colours, so I ordered both to compare.

I’ve worn cords every autumn & winter since 1970!

Cocolapew · 16/11/2024 10:20

I love cords, I've never been a fan of jeans so have a few pairs.

Abra1t · 16/11/2024 10:23

They are so warm in winter!

SweetSixty · 16/11/2024 10:26

Have a really good look at them before you keep them. The cords I bought from M&S last winter fell apart before the spring. The fabric was such poor quality the seams of the pockets and belt loops pulled it apart.

Kitchenwoe · 16/11/2024 10:28

I tried the burnt orange ones in M&S, wide leg aand the 12 was big. They didn't have a 10 in that colour so tried the brown in a 10, same style and they were tight 😅

A significant difference in being baggy and too tight.

Echobelly · 16/11/2024 10:31

I've always liked cords, very warm in winter. I bought a light brown pair last year from Joe Browns because I liked the cut but wasn't sure about the colour, but they're really flattering and look nice with dark/earth toned jumpers.

Your old Geography teacher would be proud of you 😀! With apologies to female and male Geography teachers everywhere. This is meant to be lighthearted.

Agree. They look good on models but my dad has a pair of brown cords ans they look like they smell. I can't explain it.
My history teacher wore brown flare cords too. Can't shake the image.

henlake7 · 16/11/2024 12:43

I love corduroy. I have trousers, skirts, dresses, jackets and a shirt in cord!
Brilliant for winter and usually very durable so will last you years.
(and I love abit of retro styling so Im def up for that!).

Doggymummar · 16/11/2024 12:48

I got three pairs for £20 from Vinted, Boden and they are lovely, I agree. Now wondering why I am wearing my jeans. Off to change

RampantIvy · 16/11/2024 12:50

I have some lovely navy cords from Seasalt. So comfy and wash well.

suburburban · 16/11/2024 12:52

I bought a dark green pair in straight

I wasn't sure about the wide legged as I think they would still be too long or the kick flare style

suburburban · 16/11/2024 12:53

I accidentally gave away my lovely navy pair to jumble.

Milknosugarta · 16/11/2024 12:57

I have brown and green, and am looking for a pair of black boot cut cords. Anyone seen black ones?

BaronessBomburst · 16/11/2024 12:58

Are these the ones? They're lovely!

Can’t believe I’ve just ordered cordrouy trousers!
TheOGCCL · 16/11/2024 13:01

I wouldn’t survive winter without cord trousers. I have at least four pairs of navy cord trousers in different shapes. Plus two green, brown, orange and black.

Quite fussy about the wale though, don’t like anything too wide.

FishPie2 · 16/11/2024 13:04

I bought 2 pair of M and S wide leg ones. Dark Brown size 12 - Black size 14 and they fit the same.
I wear them all the time and love them.
